  • UMTS(Universal Mobile Telecommunication System)는 시간, 위치 및 단말기의 종류와 독립적으로 모든 사용자에게 동일한 서비스를 공급하는 것이 목적이다. 이를 위해서는 현재 사용자가 사용하고 있는 단말기의 종류나 사용자 위치에 독립적인 연결 설정과, 서비스 로밍(service roaming)의 기술이 필요하다. UMTS를 포함한 차세대 통신망에서 가장 중요한 개념은 서비스 로밍을 가능하게 해주는 VHE이다. VHE는 사용자에게 시간과 공간에 독립적인 일관적인 서비스를 제공하는 것이지만, 아직까지는 서로 다른 망을 연동 하는데 있어서 많은 문제점이 해결되지 않은 상황이다. 기존의 전화망과 인터넷망을 통합시켜주는 JAIN 기반 위에, Mobile Agent Technology(MAT)를 이용해서 기존환경의 문제점을 극복하고, 새로운 형태의 서비스를 창출할 수가 있다. 이 논문에서는 MAT를 기반으로 하여 이동 환경을 고려한 효율적인 정보검색 시나리오를 설계하고 그 시나리오를 제시한다.

  • UDDI (Universal Discovery Description and Integration) Registry is used for Web Services registration and search. UDDI offers the search result to the keyword-based query. UDDI supports WSDL registration but it does not supports WSDL search. So it is required that contents based search and ranking using name and description in UDDI registration information and WSDL. This paper proposes a retrieval engine considering contents of services registered in the UDDI and WSDL. It uses Vector Space Model for similarity comparison between contents of those. UDDI registry information hierarchy and WSDL hierarchy are considered during searching process. This engine suppports two discovery methods. One is Keyword-based search and the other is template-based search supporting ranking for user's query. Template-based search offers how service interfaces correspond to the query for WSDL documents. Proposed retrieval engine can offer search result more accurately than one which UDDI offers and it can retrieve WSDL which is registered in UDDI in detail.

  • The efficient discovery of services from a large scale collection of services has become an important issue[7, 24]. We studied a syntactic method for Web service discovery, rather than a semantic method. We regarded a service discovery as a retrieval problem on the proprietary XML formats, which were service descriptions in a registry DB. We modeled services and queries as probabilistic values and devised similarity-based retrieval techniques. The benefits of our way are follows. First, our system supports ranked service retrieval by keyword search. Second, we considers both of UDDI data and WSDL definitions of services amid query evaluation time. Last, our technique can be easily implemented on the off-theshelf DBMS and also utilize good features of DBMS maintenance.

  • This paper describes design and implementation of a Web-based information service that supports management and retrieval of use cases for earth-related materials in traditional Korean construction process. Managed data are gathered from old traditional books which are written in Chinese characters. Development needs to consider providing users effective interface to retrieve information from the service easily. Gathering and analysis of earth-related data are processed in parallel to the database construction. Data store and management needs to be flexible enough. This paper introduces several design and implementation issues for the developed service, and proposes solutions for the them.

NutriSyn: Knowledge Based Synonym Retrieval Service for Food and Dishes on the Web (NutriSyn(식품어휘지능망): 웹 기반 식품.음식 유의어 지식 구축 및 검색 서비스 구현)

  • Studies based on food analysis or food databases use the national standard food database. Although Internet information services are increasing gradually, users are only able to get definitive and profitable information using standard food terms. Until now, it has been uncommon to find food retrieval services that include users' regional or historical characteristics. Thus, this study introduces a prototype for Food and Dish Synonym Retrieval (NutriSyn) that includes synonyms and related words. The environments which NutriSyn was implemented were Linux for the server operating system, the Microsoft Windows series for the users' operating system and Apache for a web server. The development languages used are PHP, JavaScript and HTLM with a MySQL database. Users can access NutriSyn using Internet browsers. The main menu items are (1) Food Synonym DB, (2) Dish Synonym DB, (3) Food Information DB, (4) Dish Information DB, and (5) Food and Menu Synonym Retrieval. This system is expected to be a useful tool for food experts and interdisciplinary research.

  • WThe education information have been increased. Accordingly, the necessary of developing on education information metadata standards has been increased. By the reason, the Korea Education & Research Information Service developed KEM(Korea Educational Metadata) 2.0. And MPEG-7 was developed to describe metadata of multimedia data. In this paper, we developed a education information image retrieval system. This system used XML schema to accept education information image metadata. We integrated contents-based retrieval and a semantic-based retrieval to overcome there problems that content-based retrieval system can not support semantic-based retrieval and a semantic-based retrieval can not support content-based retrieval. As a results, we expect to handle metadata more efficiently.

  • With the developments in the areas of IT and internet, the portal sites have provided a variety of services. The explosive growth of portal sites based on IR services has a great influence on information services and types of information provided typically by libraries. Because of various and useful information services, information users consider portal sites as a more useful information resource. With the user's changes in information resource the portal sites can be a threatening competitor to libraries as a information resource. To deal successfully environmental changes around libraries. IR agency service can be best solution. IR agency service is a sort of more advanced and expanded information services for information users who can not connect to internet or has no skill on IT area. In this paper, information users' opinion on their internet using behavior and IR agency service was collected and analyzed. Based on the result of survey. this paper proposes how to provide IR agency service and its expecting effect for libraries, especially public libraries.

  • The purposes of this study were to define the current status of information infrastructures and electronic information retrieval systems in university libraries in Korea, to assess the impact of information technology on library collection development in Korea universities, and to determine the relationship between electronic information retrieval service and library collection development. Data was collected by a mail survey. Questionnaires were mail in December, 1997 to all 134 4-year university libraries. Approximately 78 percent of the questionnaires was returned. The data taken from the survey instruments were analyzed with the analysis of variance(ANOVA) test of SAS program.

  • Recently, GIS(Geographic Information System) has been developed to personalized service for providing the specialized services that is aimed to personal user based on mobile communication. The existing GIS system provides comprehensive and simple information but GIS System for personalized service must provide the adjustive information through the personal interest profile based on POI(PoInt of Interest). This paper describes the intelligent retrieval geographical information service module for providing personal oriented geographic information service. Our proposal model consists of user preference profile, acquisition of POI through hybrid network (Wireless LAN, CDMA), service platform and implementation of prototype system. Implementation model can apply to the life information service like restaurant, oil station, convenient store and etc.
