In this paper, we introduce new locally repairable codes based on a Fractional repetition codes which is one of the MBR codes. We introduce two different constructions for different system parameters and compare these codes in terms of several performance metrics. There is some tradeoffs between the locality and other performance metrics. The newly introduced codes having the good locality should pay the price such as lower capacity or more storage nodes. And the proposed codes are more reliable than other locally repairable codes and have lower repair complexity since they can be repaired without any operations.

In this paper, we analyze the cycle structure of punctured finite-length RA-type LDPC codes and design interleavers which have good memory efficiency and avoid short cycles. Furthermore, we introduce the check-node merging scheme for punctured finite-length RA-type LDPC codes and design simple interleavers. Simulation results show that punctured finite-length RA-type LDPC codes using the proposed simple interleavers have better performance than those with random and S-random interleavers.
In this paper, a new iterative decoding of LDPC codes is proposed. The decoding is based on the posteriori probability of each belief propagation (BP) decoding and an additional postprocessing, that is, erasure decoding of LDPC codes. It turned out that the new method consistently improves the decoding performance on various classes of LDPC codes. For example it removes the error floor of Margulis codes effectively.

Multi-dimensional DC-free trellis codes based on two-dimensional constellation which can be omplemented more easily than conventional codes are proposed and their performances are analyzed in this paper. 2N-dimensional constellation of the proposed codes is constructed by concatenating N 2-dimensional constellation. Thus, for the proposed codes, information bits can be assigned easily to each signal point of the 2-dimensional consteellation and DC-free characteristic can be simply obtained by the symmetric structure of the constellation. In addition, since Viterbi decoder can calculate multi-dimensional Euchlidean distance between signals by simple sum of each 2-dimensional Euclidean distanc, decoding complexity can be reduced. The performance analysis shows that the proposed codes have almost same spectral characteristic and error performance as compared with conventional codes. However, the complexity is shown to be reduced further due to the construction method of contellation and the simple decoding algorithm of the proposed codes.

In this paper, we propose a new rate-control scheme, called splining, to construct low-rate codes from high-rate codes by splitting rows of the parity-check matrices of LDPC codes, which can construct rate-compatible LDPC codes having good initial transmission performance. Good low-rate codes can be constructed by making the number of distinct check node degrees as small as possible after splitting. The proposed scheme achieves good cycle property, low decoding complexity, and fast convergence speed, especially compared to the puncturing. Especially, rate-compatible repeat accumulate-type LDPC (RA-Type LDPC) code is constructed using splitting, which covers the code rates from 1/3 to 4/5. Through simulation it is shown that this code outperforms other rate-compatible RA-Type LDPC codes for all rates and can be decoded conveniently and efficiently.

In this paper we explain a trellis representation of block codes and derive their MAP decoding algorithm based on it. We also analyze the performance of block codes and concatenated codes with block codes as components by computer simulations, which were performed by changing the structures and constituent codes of concatenated codes. Computer simulations show that soft decision decoding of block codes get an extra coding gain than their hard decision decoding and that concatenated codes using block codes have good performance in the case of high code rate.

This article investigates the distributed data storage problem in the space information network (SIN) using distributed fountain codes. Since space nodes in the SIN are resource-limited, in order to reduce energy consumption while improving the storage reliability, an efficient distributed storage based on fountain codes and probabilistic broadcasting (DSFPB) strategy is proposed. In the proposed strategy, source packets are disseminated among the entire network according to probabilistic broadcasting (PBcast), and the final degree distribution is close to the desired robust soliton distribution (RSD), this is benefited from the appropriate packets encoding procedure of the proposed strategy. As presented by the analysis and simulations, the total cost of data dissemination is greatly reduced compared with existing representative strategies, while improving the decoding performance.

Polar codes are the first provable error correcting code achieving the symmetric channel capacity in a wide case of binary input discrete memoryless channel(BI-DMC). However, finite length polar codes have an error floor problem with successive-cancellation list(SCL) decoder. From previous works, we can solve this problem by concatenating CRC(Cyclic Redundancy Check) codes. In this paper we propose to make polar codes having extended-minimum distance from original polar codes without outer codes using correlation with generate matrix of polar codes and that of RM(Reed-Muller) codes. And we compare performance of proposed polar codes with that of polar codes concatenating CRC codes.
In this paper, we consider the construction of cyclic and quasi-cyclic structured q-ary low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes over a designated small field. The construction is performed with a pre-defined sliding-window, which actually executes the regular mapping from original field to the targeted field under certain parameters. Compared to the original codes, the new constructed codes can provide better flexibility in choice of code rate, code length and size of field. The constructed codes over small fields with code length from tenths to hundreds perform well with q-ary sum-product decoding algorithm (QSPA) over the additive white Gaussian noise channel and are comparable to the improved spherepacking bound. These codes may found applications in wireless sensor networks (WSN), where the delay and energy are extremely constrained.

Traditional regenerating codes are designed to tolerate node failures with optimal bandwidth overhead. However, there are many types of partial failures inside the node, such as latent sector failures. Recently, proposed regenerating codes can also repair intra-node failures with node-level redundancy but incur significant bandwidth and I/O overhead. In this paper, we construct a new scheme of regenerating codes, called IR-RBT codes, which employs intra-node redundancy to tolerate intra-node failures and serve as the help data for other nodes during the repair operation. We propose 2 algorithms for assigning the intra-node redundancy and RBT-Helpers according to the failure probability of each node, which can flexibly adjust the helping relationship between nodes to address changes in the actual situation. We demonstrate that the IR-RBT codes improve the bandwidth and I/O efficiency during intra-node failure repair over traditional regenerating codes but sacrifice the storage efficiency.
