Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between soft drink consumption and subjective oral symptoms in Korean adolescents. Methods: Data of 65,528 adolescents were derived from the twelfth Korea youth risk behavior web-based survey, which was conducted from 1st June 2016 to 30th June 2016. Sociodemographic factors, dietary habit, and oral health behavior were collected as independent variables. The subjective oral symptoms were used as a dependent variable. The chi-square test and logistic regression analysis were performed to identify the correlation between dental caries and the other variables. Results: A multiple logistic regression analysis revealed that subjective oral symptoms were correlated with sex, age, subjective economic status, soft drink consumption, sweet drink consumption, tooth brushing frequency and dental sealant experience. Conclusions: Since the intake of soft drink adversely effects subjectively perceived oral symptoms in Korean adolescents, oral health education should include information on the pH levels of food and beverages including carbonated drinks, the effects of sugar on the teeth, and precautions to preventing tooth damage.

This study was to investigate the dietary behavior and fast foods use among Korean youth in order to obtain basic information of nutrition education for them. Survey was carried out through questionnaire and the subjects were 236 boys and 388 girls of 4 middle schools in Seoul. The questionnaire included use frequency of Korean and Foreign fast-foods, preference, concepts regarding prices, fullness, choice factors, dietary habits and nutritional knowledges. The results are summarized as follow:1. Overweight students(52.8%) were more than normal(43.1%) and low body weight students (4.2%), classified by Roher index. 2. Most students (78.9%) had very good or good food habit, 52.6% of boys and 44.0% of girls were having breakfast regulary. 46.1% of subjects had fast-foods once or twice in a week and girl subjects used more than boys. 3. Nutritional knowledge of the subjects was satisfiable and normal and overweight groups were better than underweight group. 4. Fast-foods most students like were duckbocki(81.1%) fried chicken(80.9%) french fried potatos(80.4%) mandoo(78.1%) kimbab(78.9%), and fried chicken(77.9%). 5. 57.9% of the subjects wished to develope Korean traditional food items into fast-food style.

In this paper, first I try to sketch the changing Japanese labor market after 1990s, and then examine the so-called "Job $Caf{\acute{e}}$ program" in detail, which was initiated in 2004 by central and local governments to help young people fine suitable jobs, and finally investigate the possible direction for future labor policy as an important tool for revitalize the local economy. Latter half of 1990s witnessed the high unemployment rate among the population aged twenties in Japan, and the number of 'shinsotsu-mugyo', i.e. population not at work after completing high school or university, NEET (not in employment, education or training) and 'freeters' have grown rapidly. "Job $Caf{\acute{e}}$ program" was initiated as a public response to the increased youth unemployment, aiming at assisting young people's transition from education to career. In the Job $Caf{\acute{e}}$ program, job information service by MHLW, information service for high school students and university students by MEXT, placement service of career internship by METI are integrated into one service, and are provided by local government initiative, therefore named as "one stop service of employment". Although it is highly appreciated for one stop service, the Job cafe program has criticized for paying too much attention to the performance of projects, such as the number of users, and the number of successful job matching. At the final section of the paper, more practical spatial unit for executing effective regional plan on local employment and more empirical research on job search behavior are discussed.

The purpose of this study was to provide information to prevent and manage the risk factors of adolescent health behavior by identifying the relationship between smartphone use and the intake of sugar-sweetened beverages of Korean adolescents. Data from the 2017 Korean Youth Risk Behavior Survey of 54,603 adolescents was used for this study. The study examined the variables related to general characteristics, smartphone use, and intake of sugar-sweetened beverages. Complex sample analysis was done by performing multivariate logistic regression analysis. Smartphone usage time (aOR = 2.19, 95%CI = 2.05-2.34) and smartphone use for communication (aOR = 1.51, 95%CI = 1.43-1.60) were associated with three or more times per week of SODA beverage intake. In addition, adolescents who experienced conflicts with family were associated with SODA beverage intake (aOR = 1.42, 95%CI = 1.33-1.51), conflict with friends was associated with sweet beverage intake (aOR = 1.39, 95%CI = 1.30-1.49), and study problems were associated with SODA beverage intake (aOR = 1.79, 95%CI = 1.54-2.07). Therefore, controlling the use of Smartphones in schools and homes and creating an environment in which communication skills can be learned can help adolescents reduce the intake of sugar-sweetened beverages. Positive relationships with family and friends, and appropriate management of academic stress can help reduce inappropriate health behaviors associated with smartphone use by adolescents.
Objectives: This study examined the association between dietary behaviors and perceived health status among Korean adolescents from multicultural families. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 2,459 Korean adolescents from multicultural families (aged 13 ~ 18 years) who participated in the 2017 ~ 2019 Korea Youth Risk Behavior Surveys. Information on the sociodemographic variables, dietary behaviors, and lifestyle variables was self-reported using a web-based questionnaire. The dietary behaviors analyzed in this study were the breakfast and food intake frequencies, including fruit, vegetable, milk, fast food, carbonated drink, sweet drink, and high caffeine/energy drinks. The adolescents' health perception was self-rated as healthy, average, or unhealthy. The dietary behaviors associated with health perception were examined using a multiple logistic regression after adjusting for the confounding variables. Results: In this study population, 7.6% of adolescents perceived their health status as unhealthy, and 25.4% perceived it as average. The adolescents who were girls, middle school students, and in households with a low economic status showed significantly higher percentages of poor health perception (P-values < 0.001). Skipping breakfast was significantly associated with a negative health perception. Compared to the adolescents who consumed fruits every day, those who did not consume fruits during the previous week showed a higher odd ratio (OR) for a negative health perception [OR = 2.29, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 1.32-3.97]. The adolescents who frequently consumed carbonated drinks (≥ 5 times/week) perceived their health status as unhealthy relative to those who did not consume carbonated drinks (OR = 2.15, 95% CI = 1.25-3.71). Skipping breakfast was significantly associated with an increased OR for a negative health perception in girls but not in boys. Compared to adolescents with a normal weight, those with overweight/obesity (OR = 1.75, 95% CI = 1.21-2.52) and underweight (OR = 2.19, 95% CI = 1.25-3.82) showed higher ORs for negative health perception. Positive associations of overweight/obesity and underweight with negative health perception were observed in boys but not in girls. Conclusions: Dietary behaviors and weight status were associated with the health perception in Korean adolescents from multicultural families. These findings suggest that nutrition interventions on breakfast intake and healthy food choices for this population might effectively improve their weight and perceived health status.
Objectives: This study was performed to examine the relationship between health behaviors, living environment, and asthma in adolescents in Korea. Methods: Information on adolescents' characteristics, including demographic factors, health behaviors, and doctor's diagnosis of asthma was obtained from the Korean Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey (2015). In total, 68,043 middle and high school students participated. Environmental characteristics, including city park area and outdoor PM10 concentrations in 2015 were obtained from the Korean Statistical Information Service. The adolescents' and environmental characteristics were merged by local information. Multiple logistic regression models were used to investigate the risk factors affecting asthma in adolescents. Results: The prevalence of asthma in adolescents in 2015 was 8.8%. In the multiple logistic regression analysis, adolescents who were male, attended middle school, suffered obesity, experienced tobacco smoking, had physical activity levels of 2 to 4 days, had higher stress levels, and lived in areas with outdoor PM10 concentrations more than 47 ㎍/㎥ were more likely to have asthma, while adolescents who had middle levels of family economic status were less likely to do so. Conclusions: The fact that PM10 concentration can affect asthma is an important point in this study. Risk factors identified in this study could be used as basic data for the prevention and management of asthma in Korea.
The purpose of this study is to find out the relationship between violence damage experience and mental health of multicultural youths in Korea, and to use it as a basic data in developing mental health promotion interventions for multicultural youths. This study is a secondary data analysis based on the 2018 Youth Health Behavior Survey. Data analysis is based on IBM 25 ver. SPSS was used and logistic regression analysis was performed using complex samples. As a result of this study, factors affecting the mental health characteristics of multicultural youths in general are violent damage experience, gender, and subjective health. Suicide plans and suicide attempts were high. Although this study is a secondary data analysis study, it is difficult to grasp the school violence damage and mental health causality.

It has been shown that in the modern society, teenagers do not read a lot of books. As basic research in order to attract teenagers to reading activities, the effectiveness of booktrailers in affecting reading motivation of teenagers has been studied. As such, 121 middle school and high school students were surveyed with respect to their (1) basic awareness of reading and booktrailers, (2) awareness thereof after watching booktrailers, and (3) reader behaviour reaction applied to AIDMA & AISAS sub-elements. Results show booktrailers to be much more effective in reading motivation than printed media such as book reviews. The preferred booktrailer type is the storyline type. The preferred elements of booktrailers are the storyline, background music, video effects, with their preference in descending order. Also, in terms of the reader behaviour reaction of the teenagers, very positive responses appear across all areas including attention and interest in the book, memories of the book, desire to read the book, search for information, and production of booktrailers. These results indicate that booktrailers can be utilized very effectively in providing reading motivation and in reading expression activities.

The purpose of this study were 1) to find out the structural elements in classifying clothes images, and 2) to segment the consumer market for women's street clothes based on clothes image preferences and to identify the group differences in psychological variables, purchasing behavior variables and demographic variables. The sample was taken from 1106 middle class women who were in thier 30's∼40's living in Gwangju city. Consumers were classified into six groups: active image group (35.4%), feminine image group (25.9%). daring image group (16.5%), elegant image group (10.8%), dressy image group (8.9%) and brisk image group (3.5%). Women in their 30's∼40's preferred elegant image, daring image, active image and feminine image. Elegant image oriented group: This group is the lowest education level group and has the highest rating of housewife. This group has the lowest scores use of person information search, Daring image oriented group: Woman in their 30's prefers daring image. This group thinks practical benefit sought is less important than self-expression benefit sought. This group has the highest scores use of non-person information search, Active image oriented group: This group is practical benefit seeking group. and purchases the lowest amount of clothes. The amount of average household income is the lowest. Feminine image oriented group: The amount of average household income is the highest. This group perceives more youth$.$fashion benefit sought and self-expression benefit sought than elegant image oriented group. ANOVA, $\chi$$^2$-test revealed differences among groups according to benefit sought use of information sources, purchasing behavior variables and demographic variables.
Objectives: This study investigated dietary and lifestyle factors associated with the weight status among Korean adolescents in multicultural families. Methods: This cross-sectional study analyzed 1,751 multicultural families' adolescents who participated in the 2017-2018 Korea Youth Risk Behavior Surveys. Information on dietary and lifestyle factors was self-reported using a web-based questionnaire and this information included breakfast and foods consumption, perceived health status, alcohol drinking, smoking, physical activity, and weight control efforts. Body mass index (BMI) was calculated based on the self-reported height and body weight (kg/㎡). Weight status was assessed according to the 2017 Korean National Growth Chart: underweight (weight-for-age <5th percentiles), overweight (85th≤ BMI-for-age <95th percentiles), and obese (BMI-for-age ≥95th percentiles). Multiple logistic regression analysis was performed to examine the dietary and lifestyle factors associated with weight status after adjustment for covariates. Results: Among Korean adolescents from multicultural families, the prevalence of overweight/obesity was 20.9%, whereas about 7% of adolescents were underweight. The weight status did not show differences according to gender, school level, area of residence, and household income. Compared to adolescents who did not have breakfast during the previous week, those who had breakfast 3-4 days/week and ≥5 days/week had a 42% (p=0.021) and a 37% (p=0.009) lower prevalence of overweight/obesity, respectively. The adolescents who frequently consumed carbonated soft drinks (≥5 times/week) showed an odds ratio (OR) of 1.69 (95% CI=1.01-2.83) for overweight/obesity relative to those adolescents who did not consume carbonated soft drinks. The OR of being underweight for adolescents who ate fast food ≥3 times/week was 1.97 (95% CI=1.04-3.71) compared to those adolescents who had not eaten fast food during the previous week. Conclusions: Dietary and lifestyle factors were associated with overweight/obesity as well as underweight among Korean adolescents in multicultural families. Our findings could be used to design and provide nutrition interventions for this specific population.
