In this empirical study, we try to find major factors influencing the selection of technology acquisition strategy, and to examine the relation between technology acquisition strategies and corporate performances. The results of this study are as follows. Firstly, it is required to make intrinsic efforts for the harmony of technology acquisition strategies, which guarantees the effective acquirement of new technology. Secondly, we should pay particular attention to the harmony of external and internal resources for the corporate growth, Finally, the development of new technology is to be made on the basis of technology acquisition strategy established in terms of resources.

Study on users which was done centering information approach, acquisition and interoperability between users and information systems need to be studied in the perspective of information behavior including information acquisition and sharing behavior in the changing information environment. In order to analyze users' information acquisition and sharing behavior's demands, motives and processes in libraries and internet environments, integrated approach of both qualitative and quantitative study were tried by applying Wilson's information behavior concept. Plans for the improvement of information services were suggested on the basis of integrative analysis.

Comtemporary firms need capability of acquiring external knowledge and internalizing it to cope with environmental fluctuation. The paper analyzes the impact of absorptive capacity, an ability to recognize and utilize external knowledge, on knowledge acquisition of the firm, and examines the role of trust in the knowledge acquisition process. Data were collected from 84 domestic companies that had adopted ERP packages. The results indicate that prior experiences of knowledge acquisition, communication mechanism, and conflict resolution mechanism affect knowledge acquisition positively. Among those independent variables, communication mechanism and conflict resolution mechanism significantly and positively related with trust. Trust is, in turn, positively associated with knowledge acquisition. Meanwhile, previous knowledge base and prior relationship with the knowledge provider do not affect knowledge acquisition. Further, the results provide evidence that trust plays a mediating role between other absorptive capacity factors and knowledge acquisition.

This paper proposes the acquisition system using the multiple antennas in DS-CDMA system. The conventional acquisition schemes using multiple antennas are the methods to utilize the multi-antenna combining and the fixed multi-beam forming of a serial acquisition. Then, this paper proposes the hybrid acquisition scheme using the fixed multi-beam forming. The numerical results show the performance comparison of two acquisition schemes in terms of the acquisition time ill the multipath Rayleigh fading channel.

This paper proposes a new rotational frequency detector (RFD) for phase-locked loop (PLL) or clock and data recovery (CDR) applications for fast frequency acquisition. The proposed RFD uses the four states finite state machine (FSM) model to accelerate the frequency acquisition time. It is modeled and simulated with MATLAB Simulink. The functionalities of the proposed RFD are examined and the results are compared to those of a conventional RFD. The proposed RFD's frequency acquisition time is four times faster than that of a conventional one. The proposed RFD incorporated with a phase detector (PD) in PLL or CDR is expected to improve the frequency and phase acquisition performance later greatly.

Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the public cognition and information acquisition route for heavy metals and organic solvents in the general population in order to provide information for the development of public relations materials. Methods: The study was carried out by questionnaire from January to March 2011 by an interview with trained surveyors. There were 700 participants, divided by gender and age. A questionnaire was issued consisting of subjective and objective cognition evaluation items and questions about information acquisition route and preferred information acquisition route for six heavy metals and five organic solvents. Data were expressed as a percentage using the SPSS 23.0 software package. Result: For heavy metals, subjective and objective cognition degrees were higher in the order of lead, mercury, cadmium, and arsenic. They were higher among males than females, and in adults compared to school-age subjects. For organic solvents, both cognition degrees were high in the order of acetone, benzene, and formaldehyde. However, cognition degree by gender and age showed a complex pattern. As a response to information acquisition route, broadcast media had the highest in all ages and genders, followed by word of mouth from neighbors in elementary school children, school education or expert lectures in middle and high school students up to people in their 30s, and print media among those in their 40s to over 60s. There was no difference in the order by gender. As a response to preference for information acquisition route, broadcast media also proved the highest in all ages and genders, followed by school education or professional lectures among those in elementary school and over their 60s, and the internet in other age groups. Females preferred school education or expert lectures and word of mouth from neighbors, while males preferred the internet. In the case of the internet, the ranking was higher for preferred information acquisition route compared with the ranking for information acquisition route. Conclusions: This data on cognition degree, information acquisition route, and preferred information acquisition route according to gender and age can provide basic data for the development of educational and promotional materials for heavy metals and organic solvents exposure management.

This paper investigates the current status of the acquisition of information resources at the domestic hospitals. First of all, as a theoretical background, the concept of hospital information systems and the acquisition of information resources are reviewed. Second, as a research methodology, samples, data collection methods, and data analysis methods are discussed. Third, research hypotheses, operational definitions of the research variables and measurement are discussed. Fourth, as research results, characteristics of the samples and the current situations of the acquisition of information rourses are discussed based on the five research hypotheses.

In this paper, we analyze the performance of double-dwell hybrid initial acquisition in a direct sequence ultra-wideband (DS-UWB) system via detection, miss, false alarm probabilities, and mean acquisition time. In the analysis, we consider the effect of the acquisition sequence as well as the deployment scenario of the abundant multipath components over small coverage of the piconet in the DS-UWB system. Based on the simulation, we obtain various performance measures for the mean acquisition time by varying parameters such as the total number of hypotheses to be searched, subgroup size, and dwell time. We thereupon suggest the optimum parameter set for the initial acquisition in the DS-UWB system.
