  • Although people have had more opportunities to enjoy various types of game, most of players have felt less satisfaction with the games. This is the reason that since most Non-player Characters (NPCs) are simple and uniform, they have some limitations for competing with a variety of players. Thus, technologies for creating intelligent NPCs that can compete with each player at a similar level are required. In this paper, we present an action information management method for creating adaptive NPCs based on the algorithm for calculating their action efficiency. This algorithm is useful to the adaptation method for saving and controlling player-appropriate action. In our method, adaptive NPCs observe the actions of players and collect the relationship data between status and action. The efficiency value of the action data is calculated and data of similar status are grouped, and finally stored at the action database. The game system of NPC updates the action database and stores diverse actions. Then, NPC selects action with high efficiency value. We have tested our algorithm on an action game. A random test subject performed a one-on-one game against an adaptive NPC in real-time. As a result, the action dispositions of both the subject and NPC are analyzed in a log file to determine whether or not the disposition of the subject is similar to that of the NPC. The statistics of the diverse test results shows that NPCs become adaptive to players with error rate within less than 6%.

  • As a part of the back-end fuel cycle, transportation of spent nuclear fuel (SNF) from nuclear power plants (NPPs) to a fuel storage facility is very important in establishing a nuclear fuel cycle. In Korea, the accumulated amount of SNF in the NPP pools is troublesome since the temporary storage facilities at these NPP pools are expected to be full of SNF within ten years. Therefore, Korea cannot help but plan for the construction of an interim storage facility to solve this problem in the near future. Especially, a decision on several factors, such as where the interim storage facility should be located, how many casks a transport ship can carry at a time and how many casks are initially required, affect the configuration of the transportation system. In order to analyze the various possible candidate scenarios, we assumed four cases for the interim storage facility location, three cases for the load capacity that a transport ship can carry and two cases for the total amount of casks used for transportation. First, this study considered the currently accumulated amount of SNF in Korea, and the amount of SNF generated from NPPs until all NPPs are shut down. Then, how much SNF per year must be transported from the NPPs to an interim storage facility was calculated during an assumed transportation period. Second, 24 candidate transportation scenarios were constructed by a combination of the decision factors. To construct viable yearly transportation schedules for the selected 24 scenarios, we created a spreadsheet program named TranScenario, which was developed by using MS EXCEL. TranScenario can help schedulers input shipping routes and allocate transportation casks. Also, TranScenario provides information on the cask distribution in the NPPs and in the interim storage facility automatically, by displaying it in real time according to the shipping routes, cask types and cask numbers that the user generates. Once a yearly transportation schedule is established, TranScenario provides some statistical information, such as the voyage time, the availability of the interim storage facility, the number of transported casks sent from the NPPs, and the number of transported casks received at the interim storage facility. By using this information, users can verify and validate a yearly transportation schedule. In this way, the 24 candidate scenarios could be constructed easily. Finally, these 24 scenarios were compared in terms of their operation cost.

  • Government introduces a Total Maximum Daily Loads(TMDL) which can be implemented for total pollutant amounts in 2004. Normally, the local governments have been calculated the amounts of pollutant discharge of each watershed using a water quality model. However, among the input data to use the water quality model, creating a schematic diagram of the stream or the modeling usually requires considerable amount of time and efforts due to the manual work. Therefore, this study tried to develop an algorithm which automates the creation of a schematic diagram for water quality modeling using the Korean Reach File capable of river network analysis. Further, this study creates a schematic diagram with the shape of a stream utilizing GIS capabilities. The diagram can be easily analyzed with overlapping various spatial information such as pollution sources and discharge points. This study mainly has automated element segmentation algorithm to divide streamflows into equal distance using line graphic data of Koran Reach File. Also, automated attribute input algorithm has also been developed to enable to insert element order and type into elements using point graphic data of Korean Reach File. For the verification of the developed algorithm, the algorithm was applied to kyungan stream basin to see the acceptable results. To conclude, it was possible to automate generating of schematic diagram of water quality model and it is expected to be able to save time and cost required for the water modeling. In future study, it is necessary to develop an automatic creation system of various types of input data for water quality modeling and this will lead to relatively easier and simple water quality modeling.

  • The space between urban buildings becomes a waterway during rain events and requires a boundary condition in numerical calculations on grids to separate overland storm flows from building areas. Minimization of the building data distortion as a boundary condition is a necessary step for generating accurate calculation results. A building generalization is used to reduce the distortion of building shapes and areas during a raster conversion. The objective of this study was to provide the appropriate threshold value for building generalization and grid size in a numerical calculation. The impact of building generation on the connectivity of urban storm waterways were analyzed for a general residential area. The building generalization threshold value and the grid size for numerical analysis were selected as the independent variables for analysis, and the number and area of sinks were used as the dependent variables. The values for the building generalization threshold and grid size were taken as the optimal values to maximize the building area and minimize the sink area. With a 3 m generalization threshold, sets of $5{\times}5m$ to $10{\times}10m$ caused 5% less building area and 94.4% more sink area compared to the original values. Two sites representing general residential area types 2 and 3 were used to verify building generalization thresholds for improving the connectivity of storm waterways. It is clear that the recommended values are effective for reducing the distortion in both building and sink areas.

  • Blenderbot 2.0 is a dialogue model representing open domain chatbots by reflecting real-time information and remembering user information for a long time through an internet search module and multi-session. Nevertheless, the model still has many improvements. Therefore, this paper analyzes the limitations and errors of BlenderBot 2.0 from three perspectives: model, data, and dialogue. From the data point of view, we point out errors that the guidelines provided to workers during the crowdsourcing process were not clear, and the process of refining hate speech in the collected data and verifying the accuracy of internet-based information was lacking. Finally, from the viewpoint of dialogue, nine types of problems found during conversation and their causes are thoroughly analyzed. Furthermore, practical improvement methods are proposed for each point of view, and we discuss several potential future research directions.

  • Technical documents in the construction field are changing from paper documents to electronic ones. As a result, the industry witnesses a trend of using portable electronic devices in searching or retrieving necessary information such as relevant regulations. Despite the improvement in the accessibility to general technical documents, a limitation is still found in accessing the electronic documents on the regulations. We see the barrier for field engineers to enhance their technical knowledge. One of major barriers is that videos, animations, and virtual reality information to enhance the visual understanding of technical content related to regulations are not linked. It is the interactive electronic technical manual (IETM) that can address such issues. The IETM is an electronic document system that enables real-time information acquisition while operating in the form of conversations with users by linking multimedia functions to document types such as specifications and guidelines. This study establishes a model of the IETM that can be operated in the planning stage of a construction project. The study also verifies its usability with a hypothetical case study. This study aims to improve the usability of the IETM in the construction project by analyzing the application effect of the IETM using the AHP technique.

  • Mapping urban areas using the earth observation satellites is useful for monitoring urban expansions and measuring urban developments. In this research, the different thresholds for detecting the urban areas separately from the remote-sensing index images (normalized-difference built-up index(NDBI) and urban index(UI) images) generated from the Landsat-8 image acquired in Daegu, South Korea were evaluated through the following steps: (1) the NDBI and UI images were separately generated from the given Landsat-8 image; (2) the different thresholds (-0.4, -0.2, and 0) for detecting the urban areas separately from the NDBI and UI images were evaluated; and (3) the accuracy of each detected urban area was assessed. The experiment results showed that the threshold -0.2 had the best performance for detecting the urban areas from the NDBI image, while the threshold -0.4 had the best performance for detecting the urban areas from the UI image. Some misclassification errors, however, occurred in the areas where the bare soil areas were classified into urban areas or where the high-rise apartments were classified into other areas. In the future research, a robust methodology for detecting urban areas, including the various types of urban features, with less misclassification errors will be proposed using the satellite images. In addition, research on analyzing the pattern of urban expansion will be carried out using the urban areas detected from the multi-temporal satellite images.

  • According to IMO, MASS is defined as a vessel operated at various levels independent of human interference. The safety navigation support service for MASS is designed to improve the safety and efficiency of MASS by developing public services on shore for ship arrivals/departures and for cargo handling. The safety navigation support service consists of a total of six types of services: autonomous operation, berthing/unberthing/mooring, cargo handling and ship arrival/departure service, PSC inspection, condition monitoring, and accident response support services. In order to support accident response service, the relative importance of a bridge navigational equipment was assessed by stratifying the navigation system to provide safe and efficient support services by objective judgment through specific and quantitative methods using AHP, one of decision-making methods used by an expert group. The survey was conducted by dividing the bridge navigational equipment into depth, location, and speed information. As a result of applying the AHP method, the importance of depth, location, and speed information was assessed. The relative importance of each equipment for providing location information was also assessed in order of Radar, DGPS, ECDIS, Gyro compass, Autopilot, and AIS. This was similar to survey results on the utilization of each operator's preference and its impact on marine accidents.

  • The current Private 5G use procedure goes through the step of application examination, use and usage inspection, and can be divided in to application, examination step as a procedure before frequency allocation, and use, usage inspection step as a procedure after frequency allocation. Various types of documents are required to apply for a Private 5G, and due to the document screening process and radio station inspection for using Private 5G frequencies, the procedure for Private 5G applicants to use Private 5G is complicated and takes a considerable amount of time. In this paper, we proposed Frequency Allocation Process for Private 5G using a blockchain platform, which is fast and simplified than the current procedure. Through the use of a blockchain platform and NFT (Non-Fungible Token), reliability and integrity of the data required in the frequency allocation process were secured, and security of frequency usage information was maintained and a reliable Private 5G frequency allocation process was established. Also by applying the RPA system that minimizes human intervention, fairness was secured in the process of allocating Private 5G. Finally, the frequency allocation process of Private 5G based on the Ethereum blockchain was performed though a simulation.

  • As information technology is more actively incorporated into automobiles, the role of IVIS (In-Vehicle Infotainment System) is becoming increasingly important for providing convenience and entertainment for drivers. However, using the infotainment systems while driving requires task switching and attending to two visual resources simultaneously. We simulated a setting where participants have to drive while interacting with the infotainment system and examined how task difficulty and motor cues impact driver task-switching and driving performance, specifically whether the effects of motor cues differ depending on task difficulty. For the infotainment display, we used two types of number array depending on the congruency between the digit repetition and the chunking unit, while task difficulty was manipulated by the size of the touch-keys. Participants were instructed to dial two numbers on the screen while we recorded the dialing time, lateral position, inter-key press intervals, and steering wheel control. We found that dialing time and lateral position were affected by task difficulty, while the type of number array had no effect. However, the inter-key press intervals between chunked numbers and steering wheel movement both increased when participants had to use an incongruent number array, which indicates that, if number digits are repeated, chunking is ignored by the drivers. Our findings indicate that, in a dual-task condition, motor cues offset the effect of chunking and can effectively signal the timing for task switching.
