Usefulness of High-Resolution Ultrasonography after Foreign Body Injection on Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (성형외과 영역에서 이물질 주사에 대한 고해상초음파 검사의 유용성)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the usefulness of the high resolutional ultrasonographic features in patients with foreign body. Methods: From September 2007 to August 2009, we retrospectively reviewed high resolutional ultrasonogram using 5~12 MHz linear transducer of 13 patients presenting with inflammation after foreign body injection. They were referred for complications after foreign body injection. Injected foreign bodies were 4 silicone, 4 paraffin, 2 artecoll, and 3 unknown. We treated them with foreign body removal (7), foreign body removal and corrective plastic surgery (4), and conservative treatment with antibiotics and steroid injection (2). Results: High resolutional ultrasonography well demonstrated the existence of foreign body and it's overall size, location within the tissue layer, and vascularity. Comparison between preoperative and postoperative ultrasonographic findings was useful not only to evaluate the prognosis but also to plan the treatment. These ultrasonographic findings aided in precise assessment of the contour and location of the foreign body and led to an accurate surgery. We were able to acquire various information in order to set a detailed plan for the operation which in turn, led to a precise, successful surgery. After the treatment, complication did not occur in 12 patients, except 1 patient. But this patient was also treated after reoperation. Postoperative high resolutional ultrasonography shows almost foreign body removed and inflammation disappeared. Conclusion: Considering the usefulness of highresolution ultrasonography in foreign body injection, highresolution ultrasonography would be necessary for both the patient and the doctor. Preoperative and postoperative high resolutional ultrasonography is highly accurate, safe, inexpensive and easy. It can be a useful modality in foreign body after plastic surgery.

3dimension Topography Generation and Accuracy Analysis Using GIS (GIS를 이용한 3차원 지형도 생성 및 정확도 분석)

  • Recently as map making skills developed and as digital maps prevailed, peoples began to take interest in the realistic 3dimension topography rather than the flat 2 dimension one. The experiment is done by using the topographical information from the digital maps, To analyze the preciseness of this 3dimension topography, analysis of the coordinate-changed standard map image and the location errors of the plane and height from digital values of the map's topography by layers and features, were done. The visual results of locational values differed by every programs of coordinate transformation. Errors of locations also appeared from the methods of correcting the visual sources, when deciding the standard source's datum point. The plan's accuracy of the image data coordinate transformation is about ${\pm}4.1m$. In ground distance, therefore, it is included in the allowed error of the 1:25,000 scale changed map, satisfying the plan's accuracy. Also, by the use of reasonably spaced grid, it satisfied the visual topographical accuracy. Because the 3 dimension topographical map can be produced effectively and rapidly by using various scale's standard map image and the digital map, the further practical use of 3 dimension topographic map made by using the existing topographies and changed maps has high expectations.

  • In industry, it is a current trend that systems are developed by using Enterprise JavaBeans(EJB) technology for reducing the cost and the time. Thus, the architecture of EJB is getting more essential to enhance reusability, extensibility and portability of system. However little has been studied in the realm of the practical software architectures for EJB. The architecture has just bean studied in abstract level, but not in concrete level providing the method to substantiate it using the practical J2EE techniques. Just using the EJB technology doesn't guarantee the reusability of the artifacts because EJB specification provides the characteristics and architecture for only fine grained components as session and entity bean. In this paper, we propose the enterprise software architecture for the systems based on EJB and the concrete techniques for implementing that. Also, design patterns of modeling efficient enterprise architecture are represented. By analyzing both the strengths and the weaknesses of suggested design patterns, EJB design patterns which are suitable for each layer of enterprise architecture will be identified. Through the component which design patterns are applied, the architecture can support the optimized relationship between the components. Five techniques for designing components from fine grained to coarse grained based on EJB technology, and architecture design techniques including transaction and assembling techniques are proposed.

  • Non-volatile RAM (NVRAM) is a form of next-generation memory that has both characteristics of nonvolatility and byte addressability each of which can be found in nonvolatile storage and RAM, respectively. The advent of NVRAM may possibly bring about drastic changes to the system software landscape. When NVRAM is efficiently exploited in the system software layer, we expect that the system performance can be significantly improved. In this regards, we attempt to develop a new Flash file system, named MiNVFS (Metadata in NVram File System). MiNVFS maintains all the metadata in NVRAM, while storing all file data in Flash memory. In this paper, we present quantitative experimental results that show how much performance gains can be possible by exploiting NVRAM. Compared to YAFFS, a typical Flash file system, we show that MiNVFS requires only minimal time for mounting. MiNVFS outperforms YAFFS by an average of around 400% in terms of the total execution time for the realistic workloads that we considered.

  • Recently, wireless sensor networks have found their way into a wide variety of applications and systems with vastly varying requirements and characteristics such as environmental monitoring, smart spaces, medical applications, and precision agriculture. The sensor nodes are battery powered. Therefore, the energy is the most precious resource of a wireless sensor network since periodically replacing the battery of the nodes in large scale deployments is infeasible. Energy efficient mechanisms for gathering sensor readings are indispensable to prolong the lifetime of a sensor network as long as possible. There are two energy-efficient approaches to prolong the network lifetime in sensor networks. One is the compression scheme to reduce the size of sensor readings. When the communication conflict is occurred between two sensor nodes, the sender must try to retransmit its reading. The other is the MAC protocol to prevent the communication conflict. In this paper, we propose a novel approaches to reduce the size of the sensor readings in the MAC layer. The proposed scheme compresses sensor readings by allocating the time slots of the TDMA schedule to them dynamically. We also present a mathematical model to predict latency from collecting the sensor readings as the compression ratio is changed. In the simulation result, our proposed scheme reduces the communication cost by about 52% over the existing scheme.

FlaSim: A FTL Emulator using Linux Kernel Modules (FlaSim: 리눅스 커널 모듈을 이용한 FTL 에뮬레이터)

  • Many researchers have studied flash memory in order to replace hard disk storages. Many FTL algorithms have been proposed to overcome physical constraints of flash memory such as erase-before-write, wear leveling, and poor write performance. Therefore, these constraints should be considered for testing FTL algorithms and the performance evaluation of flash memory. As doing the experiments, we suffer from several problems with costs and settings in experimental configuration. When we, for example, replay the traces of Oracle to evaluate the I/O performance with flash memory, it is hard to extract exact traces of I/O operations in Oracle. Since there are only write operations in the log, it is impossible to gather read operations. In MySQL and SQLite, we can gather the read operations by changing I/O functions in the source codes. But it is not easy to search for the exact points about I/O and even if we can find out the points, we might get wrong results depending on how we modify source codes to get I/O traces. The FlaSim proposed in this paper removes the difficulties when we evaluate the performance of FTL algorithms and flash memory. Our Linux drivers emulate the flash memory as a hard disk. And we can easily obtain the usage statistics of flash memory such as the number of write, read, and erase operations. The FlaSim can be gracefully extended to support the additional modules implemented by novel algorithms and ideas. In this paper, we describe the structure of FTL emulator, development tools and operating methods. We expect this emulator to be helpful for many experiments and research with flash memory.

Colorimetric comparison of single layered dental composite with double layered dental composite (색상 측정 기기를 이용한 복합레진 적층 수복과 단일 수복의 색상 비교 분석)

  • Objectives: This study analyzed the difference in color caused by different thickness in enamel layer of composite resins when applied with single and layering placement technique, and evaluated if the results agreed with the shade guide from the manufacturers to verify reliability of the color matching process of the manufacturers. Materials and Methods: For single composite resin samples, 6 mm diameter and 4 mm thickness cylindrical samples were fabricated using Ceram-X mono (DENTSPLY DeTrey) and CIE $L^*a^*b^*$ values were measured with spectrophotometer. Same process was done for layering composite resin samples, making 3 dentinal shade samples, 4 mm thickness, for each shade using Ceram-X duo (DENTSPLY DeTrey) and enamel shade resins were layered in 2 mm thickness and CIE $L^*a^*b^*$ values were measured. These samples were ground to 0.2 mm thickness each time, and CIE $L^*a^*b^*$ values were measured to 1 mm thickness of enamel shade resin. Results: Color difference (${\Delta}E^*$) between single and layering composite resin was 1.37 minimum and 10.53 maximum when layering thicknesses were between 1 mm and 2 mm and 6 out of 10 same shade groups suggested by manufacturer showed remarkable color difference at any thickness (${\Delta}E^*$ > 3.3). Conclusion: When using Ceram-X mono and duo for composite resin restoration, following the manufacturer's instructions for choosing the shade is not appropriate, and more accurate information for Ceram-X duo is needed on the variation and expression of the shades depending on the thickness of the enamel.

  • It is important to realize automation services by communicating in IoT with humans, objects & objects, and forming a common network. People used web like the most powerful network way to sharing things and communication. Therefore the efficiency method communication between each device and the web in IoT could be different from ones. The best method for high quality software product in web applications is software reuse ; Modules, classes, patterns, frameworks, and business components are reusable elements of various perspectives. Components is plugged with others through well-defined interfaces, which can overcome the operation and complexity of application development. A web-based distributed environment for IoT applications is a standard architecture use information collected from various devices for developing and using applications. For that reason, the network management which manages the constituent resources for the best service control in IoT application is required as a sub-layer support service in most applications as well as individual applications. In this paper, we measure to develop a network management system based not only by components but on heterogeneous internetworks. For procedure this, we clarify a component architecture for classifying and classify also the component needed in the IOT and network domain or order the type of real network management system.

  • The objective of this study was to monitor vegetation development process after timber harvesting at (Mt.) Baekwoonsan Seoul National University Forests, Korea. Two monitoring plots were established in 1994 and woody plant were monitored from 1994 to 1999. Vegetation development pattern during last six years(1994-1999) after timber harvesting were as follows; Styrax obassia, Styrax japonica and Lindera erythrocarpa as of the existing tree were competitive species in the first year after clearcut, and Styrax japonica and Lindera erythrocarpa as of sprout tree) and Aralia elata as of seedling were dominant species in the sixth years after clearcut. Species diversity indices of harvested forest interior was decreased at the southwestern slope and increased at the northeastern slope. According to DBH distribution pattern, No. of individuals of Lindera erythrocarpa and Aralia elata showed vigorous growth in the sub-canopy layer and then Styrax japonica, Quercus serrata, Maackia amurensis, Lespedeza maximowixzii, Lindera obtusiloba, Staphylea bumalda, Clero-dendrum trichotomum, Weigela subsessilis, in order showed good growth in the sixth year after clearcut. Lindera erythrocarpa with a reversed J-shaped curve pattern by DBH class will be increased while Aralia elata with a J-shaped curve pattern will be decreased.

Isolation and Determination of Phenolic Compounds from Tuber of Color-fleshed and White-fleshed Potatoes

  • Color-fleshed potatoes 'Hong-young' and 'Ja-young' were developed by RDA, and it has reported that they have high content of anthocyanin. Additionally they show higher radical scavenging activity compared to white or yellow fleshed potatoes. So it will be expected that the consumption of color-fleshed potatoes gradually increase by pre-peeled potatoes and color potato chips. This study was conducted to enhance the utilization of the tuber of color-fleshed potatoes. At first, we isolated four compounds from the organic solvents soluble layer in ethanol extract of tuber, and their structures were characterized by spectroscopic methods and by comparing their data to those in the literature. Their structures were characterized to be caffeic acid (1), chlorogenic acid (2), gallic acid (3) and protocatechuic acid (4) for the first time reported from this source. These compounds were already reported ingredients but considered to exhibit a high physiological activity. The quantitative determination on the four compounds in tuber of color-fleshed [Hong-young (HY) & Ja-young (JY)] and white-fleshed [Superior (SP)] potatoes samples were measured using HPLC. The concentration of caffeic acid in each total fractionations of HY (184.4 g/g) and JY (435.1 g/g) were higher than in total fractionation of SP (31.1). The concentration of gallic acid in each total fractionations of HY (282.1 g/g) and JY (315.2 g/g) were higher than in total fractionation of SP (143.3 g/g). The concentration of chlorogenic acid contents appeared to be highest in total fractionation of SP (954.2 g/g). The concentration of protocatechuic acid in total fractionation of HY (120.3 g/g) was higher than in each total fractionationss of JY (74.4 g/g) and SP (102.7 g/g). Overall, color-fleshed potatoes had higher amount of physicochemical properties than 'Superior'. Therefore, color-fleshed potatoes are expected to be highly valuable items for the development and applications of a functional food. In addition, these results will provide fundamental information for improving sitological value, and breeding of new cultivar.
