  • According to the development of the aircraft industry, the fatigue strength of Aluminum Alloy becomes a great important material, but it seems that we don't understand an effect on the crack growth behaviour very well. This thesis is not only studied about the five kinds of 2017-T3, 2023-T3, 5083-0, 7075-T6, 7N01-T6 among the Aluminum Alloy which are the main materials of the aircraft, but also small or large relations against the fatigue strength of them. The consequence of the research was being progressed the accordance with the order. That is, The order is 2024-T3> 2017-T3> 7N01-T6> 7075-T6> 5083-0. These inclusion came out the acceleration phenomena in the crack growth behaviour among the high ${\Delta}K$ section Nevertheless I figured out their effects were being ignored at the 2b step.

  • An novel amylolytic yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae HA 27, isolated from nuruk, displayed resistance against high sugar (50% glucose) and alcohol (15%). Maximal production of amylolytic enzyme by S. cerevisiae HA 27 was achieved on 9 days of cultivation at the optimal temperature $20^{\circ}C$ and pH 6.0. The activity of amylolytic enzyme produced by S. cerevisiae HA 27 was stable, even at $70^{\circ}C$, and over a broad pH range (4.0-11.0). Also, the amylolytic enzyme of S. cerevisiae HA 27 showed optimal activity in pH 5.0 at $50^{\circ}C$. S. cerevisiae HA 27 exhibited 6.2%(v/v) alcohol fermentation ability using starch as a carbon source.

  • Objective: The objective of this study was to determine net energy (NE) of expeller-press (EP-RSM) and solvent-extracted rapeseed meal (SE-RSM) and to establish equations for predicting the NE in rapeseed meal (RSM) fed to growing pigs. Methods: Thirty-six barrows (initial body weight [BW], 41.1±2.2 kg) were allotted into 6 diets comprising a corn-soybean meal basal diet and 5 diets containing 19.50% RSM added at the expense of corn and soybean meal. The experiment had 6 periods and 6 replicate pigs per diet. During each period, the pigs were individually housed in metabolism crates for 16 days which included 7 days for adaption to diets. On day 8, pigs were transferred to respiration chambers and fed their respective diet at 2,000 kJ metabolizable energy (ME)/kg BW0.6/d. Feces and urine were collected, and daily heat production was measured from day 9 to 13. On days 14 and 15, the pigs were fed at 890 kJ ME/kg BW0.6/d and fasted on day 16 for evaluation of fasting heat production (FHP). Results: The FHP of pigs averaged 790 kJ/kg BW0.6/d and was not affected by the diet composition. The NE values were 10.80 and 8.45 MJ/kg DM for EP-RSM and SE-RSM, respectively. The NE value was positively correlated with gross energy (GE), digestible energy (DE), ME, and ether extract (EE). The best fit equation for NE of RSM was NE (MJ/kg DM) = 1.14×DE (MJ/kg DM)+0.46×crude protein (% of DM)-25.24 (n = 8, R2 = 0.96, p<0.01). The equation NE (MJ/kg DM) = 0.22×EE (% of DM)-0.79×ash (% of DM)+14.36 (n = 8, R2 = 0.77, p = 0.018) may be utilized to quickly determine the NE in RSM when DE or ME values are unavailable. Conclusion: The NE values of EP-RSM and SE-RSM were 10.80 and 8.45 MJ/kg DM. The NE value of RSM can be well predicted based on energy content (GE, DE, and ME) and proximate analysis.

  • The objective of this study was to determine the optimum ratio of methionine to methionine plus cystine for growing pigs. A nitrogen balance trial was conducted using a total of 21 barrows (Large WhiteLandrace) over two replicates. The initial body weight was $20.36{\pm}1.22kg$ (mean${\pm}$SD) in the first replicate and $23.54{\pm}1.02kg$ (mean${\pm}$SD) in the second. For each replicate, the 21 pigs were randomly assigned to one of seven dietary treatments with three observations per treatment. The diets included a methionine and cystine-deficient basal diet with all other essential nutrients meeting nutrient requirements and six diets formulated with graded levels of DL-methionine (0.00, 0.03, 0.06, 0.10, 0.13, 0.16%) and $L-Cystine{\cdot}HCl{\cdot}H_2O$ (0.19, 0.15, 0.11, 0.07, 0.04, 0.00%). This resulted in ratios of methionine to methionine plus cystine of 41.3, 29.6, 35.3, 41.2, 46.0, 51.6 and 57.5%. Each experimental period lasted 12 days consisting of a seven-day adaptation period followed by a five-day total collection of urine and feces. During the collection period, pigs were fed 900 g/day for the first replicate and 1,200 g/day for the second replicate. The feed was provided in three equal portions at 0800, 1500, and 2200 h daily. Pigs had ad libitum access to water after feeding. There was a linear (p<0.01) and quadratic (p<0.01) effect on daily gain and feed conversion as the ratio of methionine to methionine plus cystine increased. Pigs receiving the diets providing a methionine to methionine plus cystine ratio of 51.6% had the best daily gain and feed conversion. Plasma urea nitrogen was also lowest for this treatment. Nitrogen retention increased (p<0.01) as the relative proportion of methionine increased up to 51.6% and then a downward trend occurred at 57.5%. The quadratic regression model, as well as one- and two- slope regression line models, were used to determine the optimum ratio of methionine to methionine plus cystine. Eliminating the 35.3% methionine to methionine plus cystine treatment resulted in $R^2$ values in excess of 0.92. The optimal ratio of methionine to methionine plus cystine was estimated to be 54.15% for nitrogen retention and 56.72% for plasma urea nitrogen.

  • As of the end of August 2017, there were 392 academic articles for $4^{th}$ Industrial Revolution in Korea. Is the vigorous discussion on the 4th Industrial Revolution in Korea normal? We checked the main theories on this topic by existing theories and responses of major countries and industries. The findings are that there are technologies called a Technological Revolution, and the industrial application of some technologies is in the starting stage. If comes, the Industrial Revolution is expected with the structure as follows: excellence science, core technologies, base technologies, application and infrastructure, and institutions. Nonetheless, the brisk studies are from three branches such as the Industry 4.0, social connection and artificial intelligence. The Industry 4.0, the digital transformation of manufacturing is the on-going issue in the industry, and artificial intelligence brings the biggest discourse. The 392 literature are mostly from introduction and preparation for future; technology 15.8%, industry 26.3%, society 24.5%, education 19.1%, policy 10.7%. The labor and employment is only 3.6%.

  • Fatty acid compositions of seventy-two species of Korean fish muscle, 59 species of sea water fish and 13 species of fresh water fish, were studied. Polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) was the richest fatty acid group in all fish samples, accounting for $38.0\pm10.3\%$ of total fatty acids. Monounsaturated fatty acids $(MUFA,\;31.4\pm9.67\%)$ and saturated fatty acids $(SFA, 30.5\pm3.81\%)$ showed a similar level. There was a positive correlation between the total lipid content and MUFA (r=0.7788, p<0.001) and a negative correlation between the total lipid content and PUFA (r= -0.7786, p<0.001) while there was no correlation between the total lipid content and SFA. The proportion of n-3 PUFA and n-6 PUFA was $29.7\pm8.73\%$ and $6,48\pm3.70\%$, respectively, in all fish samples. The n-3 PUFA was rich in sea water fish while n-6 PUFA was rich in fresh water fish. The migratory fish contained the highest level of the n-3 PUFA $(1.82\pm1.01g/100g\;muscle)$, followed by the fresh water fish $(1.09\pm1.04g/100g\;muscle)$, the reef fish $(0.90\pm0.60g/100g\;muscle)$ and the demersal fish $(0.77\pm0.38g/100g\;muscle)$. There was a positive correlation between the total lipid and n-3 PUFA content, $y=0.2083\times+0.05 (r=0.9352,\;p<0.0010)$.

  • We investigated the optimal conditions for keratinase production by feather-degrading Pseudomonas geniculata H10 using one variable at a time (OVT) method. The optimal medium composition and cultural condition for keratinase production were determined to be glucose 0.15% (w/v), beef extract 0.08% (w/v), $KH_2PO_4$ 0.12% (w/v), $K_2HPO_4$ 0.02% (w/v), NaCl 0.07% (w/v), $MgSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O$ 0.03%, $MgCl_2{\cdot}6H_2O$ 0.04% along with initial pH 10 at 200 rpm and $25^{\circ}C$, respectively. The production yield of keratinase was 31.6 U/ml in an optimal condition, showing 4.6-fold higher than that in basal medium. The strain H10 also showed plant growth promoting activities. This strain had ammonification activity and produced indoleacetic acid (IAA), siderophore and a variety of hydrolytic enzymes such as protease, lipase and chitinase. Therefore, this study showed that P. geniculata H10 could be not only used to upgrade the nutritional value of feather wastes but also useful in situ biodegradation of feather wastes. Moreover, it is also a potential candidate for the development of biofertilizing agent applicable to crop plant soil.

  • Protein, lipid classes, and fatty acid composition, including n-3 highly unsaturated fatty acids (HUFAs), were analyzed in the soft parts, which we differentiated as the adductor muscles and 'other portions,' from the cultured pearl oyster after the pearl was harvested and before the nucleus was grafted to evaluate the nutritional qualities of the soft parts. Total lipid content was higher in the other portions of the soft parts ($1.25-1.26\%$) than in the adductor muscles ($0.580.65\%$) in both pearl oyster samples, whereas protein content was higher in the latter ($15.518.7\%$) than in the former ($11.2-13.9\%$; P<0.05). The percentage of total lipids (TLs) consisting of phospholipids (PLs) was higher in the adductor muscles ($60.4-68.3\%$) than in the other portions ($40.6-47.0\%$), but the percentage of nonpolar lipids (NLs) was higher in the other portions of the soft parts. The prominent lipid classes were free sterol (FS) and triglyceride (TG) in the NLs and phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylethanolamine in the PLs. The adductor muscles contained high levels of FS and all PL classes, while the other portions contained high levels of all NL classes, especially TG (but not FS; P<0.05). The prominent fatty acids were 22:6n-3 ($17.2-24.9\%$), 16:0 ($8.35-15.8\%$), 20:5n-3 ($7.95-14.9\%$), 18:0 dimethyl acetal (DMA, $4.79-13.5\%$), 18:0 ($4.50-6.16\%$), and 20:4n-6 ($4.36-5.43\%$). The percentages of 22:6n-3, 20:4n-6, and 18:0 DMA were higher in the adductor muscles than in the other portions of both pearl oyster samples, while those of 20:5n-3 and 16:0 were higher in the other portions (P<0.05). The levels of these food components were similar to those of other bivalves or were higher, especially the protein content, indicating that the soft parts of pearl oysters, which are currently wasted, have food value.
