The Influence of Followership to Leadership Styles and Empowerment in IT SMEs (팔로워십 특성 조절효과가 IT중소기업의 리더십유형과 임파워먼트에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to highlight the effects of the two leadership styles, namely: transformational leadership and transactional leadership, on the different types of followership through analyzing their impact in the productivity and competitiveness of human resources in IT SMEs. The paper focuses on determining whether transformational leadership or transactional leadership is more effective as shown by the levels of empowerment derived from these two types of leadership under study. From this study, alien, role model and passive types of followership, transformational leadership appears to be more influential for personal empowerment. As for group level of empowerment, the transformational type of leadership shows higher effectiveness in alien, role model, passive, and practical types of followership. On the other hand, transactional leadership yields positive impact on practical and conformist types of followership. In summary, personal empowerment plays a direct impact on group empowerment. Thus, with the exception of conformist type of followership, transformational leadership has more impact in human resources of IT SMEs.

Ambidextrous Leadership and Innovative Work Behavior: Evidence from South Korea Semiconductor Industry (양손잡이 리더십과 혁신적인 업무 행동: 한국 반도체 산업의 증거)

  • The semiconductor industry is a competitive, complicated and a cyclical sector with a highly dynamic business climate which requires an effective leadership style to operate and succeed. This study explores the important issue of how leadership facilitates employee innovative work behaviors in the semiconductor industry. Based on the assumptions of the ambidextrous leadership theory and social exchange theory, we collected data from 300 workers employed in the semiconductor industry of South Korea. The study investigated (1) the impact of ambidextrous leadership on innovative work behavior, (2) the mediating effects of workers decision-making autonomy and workplace learning in the relationship between ambidextrous leadership and innovative work behavior, (3) the moderating role of resistance to change in the relationship between ambidextrous leadership and workplace learning, and (4) the moderating role of openness to experience in the relationship between ambidextrous leadership and innovative work behavior. SmartPLS 4 and SPSS v24 was used to analyze our data. The study revealed that ambidextrous leadership positively influences workers innovative work behavior. In addition, decision-making autonomy and workplace learning partially mediated the relationship between ambidextrous leadership and innovative work behavior. Moreover, resistance to change was found to be a significant moderator in the relationship between ambidextrous leadership and workplace learning. Based on these findings, we conclude that ambidextrous leadership is very imperative for semiconductor businesses seeking to foster employee innovative work behaviors. Theoretical and practical implications of the study are also discussed.

Sports Leadership Theories for Improving Retail Service Quality on Customer Value

  • Purpose: The sports leadership theories are crucial in ensuring the success of corporations. This study shall discuss the various leadership theories employed in the sports industry and how they can be incorporated within the retailing sector to enhance the service quality and promote substantial customer value towards all the consumers visiting the retailing stores. Research design, data and methodology: The present researcher gathered textual data on potential solutions for coding of development through web searching method and coded and produced various topics as solution providers. Methods were then established to enhance quality on customer value by the leadership within their businesses, and the researcher subsequently presented the findings. Results: This study provides a total of nine solutions which are helpful systemically for practitioners in the retailer service sector. These numerous solutions can be incorporated within the retail industry through the sports leadership theories employed in the sports industry to help achieve a full and strong customer value. Conclusions: Finally, the present study concludes that the retail industry and management need to ensure that a substantial customer value is built through high-quality services rendered towards the clientele base, employing sports leadership theories such as path-goal, authentic leadership, transformation, situational and leader-member exchange theories.

The Effects of Organizational Commitment on Leadership Style: Focused on Transactional Leadership and Transformational Leadership (부서장 리더십 유형이 조직몰입에 미치는 영향: 거래적 리더십과 변혁적 리더십을 중심으로)

  • This study aims to suggest proper types of leadership that can enhance organizational commitment by examining differences in recognition of department head leadership style. This research is to find out what kind of leadership type is the most efficient to make member committed to their organization among transactional leadership and transformational leadership. To following consequences are gained through this analysis. First, as to the types of department head leadership, the average of transformational leadership was higher than that of transactional leadership. Second, the result of this research indicates the positive impact of transformational leadership affect organizational commitment without continuance commitment at IT departments. But, at non-IT departments, all organizational commitment is affected by transformational leadership. Third, transactional leadership affects affective commitment at IT departments. But, transactional leadership may not affect affective commitment at non-IT departments. Finally, transactional leadership may not affects normative commitment at IT departments, but at non-IT departments.

  • There is no absolute leadership through East and West. Just as past and present conditions are not the same, it is not easy for past leadership to apply to the present. The best leadership will be the leadership that can represent and lead the changing situation. In that sense, the creative leadership is the most appropriate leadership required by the present age. In the society, research on creative leadership is actively conducted in schools and companies, but there is no research on creative leadership in the military. This is the first study in the military about creative leadership. It is meaningful to understand the understanding of creative leadership and the applicability of the military and to provide a basis for future research. First, we measured the organizational effectiveness of creative leadership. The data were analyzed by factor analysis, correlation analysis, and regression analysis using SPSS 18.0. The results of this study were as follows. First, the organizational effectiveness of creative leadership and organizational goals and achievement were measured, and it was found that there was significant influence on the relationship between creative leadership and organizational effectiveness. I could confirm some. This would be meaningful in that it suggested the possibility of applying the leadership of the creative leadership to lead the change of society and to implement the military command.

  • This study aims to increase effectiveness of human resources management of food service industry by identifying relationships if influence among leadership of manager supervisor, employee' empowerment and organizational effectiveness in food service industry. To achieve the purpose of this study, documentary study and empirical study using a structural equation model analysis was conducted. Based upon the relationships among leadership, empowerment and organizational effectiveness in food service industry, comprehensive methods for human resources management can be presented.

  • Digital transformation plays a critical role in making hospitality and tourism organizations create new business processes and customer experiences. The hospitality and tourism industry thrives on creating unique experiences by offering exceptional and innovative customer services through innovative digital technologies. Thus, this study provides an overview of the current use of these technologies in the hospitality industry and their potential advantages and opportunities. In particular, the metaverse and immersive virtual reality (VR) technology are gaining popularity in the hospitality industry, offering new opportunities for innovation and driving core values. This study discusses the current use of VR and metaverse and potential advantages and opportunities for researchers and practitioners in the hospitality and tourism context. Thus, we provide suggestions and implications for hospitality and tourism industry stakeholders to increase core values and business performance and create sustainable competitive advantages over other market players through VR and metaverse.

  • Under the difficult economy circumstances of Korean universities and industries, Korean government has been strongly emphasizing industry-university collaboration to make percentage of employment among college/university graduates higher as well as prosperity of Korean economy. In order to make effective improvement for universities, industries, local society, and national economic status, it is required to recognize the importance of university-industry collaboration team leader's leadership; which relates various employers personal behaviors with organizational goals and affects the employer's organizational behaviors in university-industry collaboration team. This study aims to suggest the effective strategic leadership behaviors fur the industry-university collaboration team leader in Korean universities as they are to manage university faculty members, professors, and researchers and/or top management of business enterprises and to achieve the organizational goals through literatures concerned about leadership and university-industry collaboration.

The relationship between leadership and service quality (리더십과 서비스품질의 관계에 대한 연구)

  • As the family's revenue and the preference for the quality of life increase, outdoor food and meal industry is rapidly growing up in Korea. Thus employee's service quality is much more necessary in this industry This paper reviews the relationship between the leadership and the service quality. Samples collected from restaurant employee were 571 cases and were analyzed to test the relationship between the leadership factors and the service quality factors. Statistical results showed that the leadership influences to the tangibility and the empathy among service quality factors more than to other factors. And the transformational leadership style is more effective than transactional leadership style.

  • As the service industry has been getting increased attention as the core for the national economic growth, in order to promote growth and development of the industry, in-depth research on the workers in the industry has been timely called for. Therefore current study aims to explore the effect of leadership style on organizational citizenship behavior(ie OCB) for increased productivity of workers in the service industry, and the role of multi-dimensional justice in the relationship between them. The findings suggest that transformational and transactional leadership both have positive effect on OCB, implying that application of leadership style that is appropriate to the context may be more important, Also, mediation test of multi-dimensional justice resulted partial mediation effect except for the procedural justice in the relationship between transformational leadership and OCB.
