Robot Dynamic Analysis using Free-body-diagram (자동물체도를 이용한 로봇 동력학 해석)

  • Dynamic analysis is important in structural design of SCARA or articulated type industrial robots and is' usually done to main three axes. In this paper, robot arm dynamics was analyzed using FBD(free body diagram). Though the proposed scheme becomes complex as DOF(degree of freedom)increases, it allows to see types and directions of forces and moments acting on the body. Therefore, the strength analysis of robot arm can be done relatively easy in a case of either closed or open loop chain. This method can be used for obtaining dynamic simulation at off-line programming system and calculating required torques at joints at on-line system.

  • In this paper show how to design a redundant robot which is suitable for the multiple task without any constraints on the workspace. The implementation is possible by the rigid connection of a mobile robot and a task robot. Use a five joint articulated robot as the task robot; designed the 3 joint mobile robot for this usage. For a task execution assigned to the redundant robot, not only the task robot but the mobile robot should work in the coordinated way. therefore, a kinematic connection of the two robots should be cleary represented in a frame. And, also the dynamic interaction between the two robots needs to be analyzed. Clarified these issues considering the control of the redundant robot. Finally, demonstrate away of utilization of the redundancy as the cooperation between the mobile robot and the task robot to execute a common task.

Application of LabView-Based Parameter Scheduling Programming for a 6-Axis Articulated Robot (LabView기반 6축 수직 다관절 로봇의 파라미터 스케쥴링 프로그래밍에 관한 연구)

  • As industrial robots come into wider use, their control techniques are being developed along with enhancements in their performance. Specially, the dynamic performance of a 6-axis articulated industrial robot is greatly changed according to the position and orientation of the robot. This means that the PI parameter tuning of the robot and orientation of the robot. This mconsidering the dynamic characteristics of robot mechanism. In this study, $LabView^{(R)}$ programming was applied to automatically conduct parameter scheduling for various robot motions. Using forward and inverse kinematics of RS2, we can divide the working envelope of RS2 into 24 subspaces. We then conduct the gain-tuning according to each subspace. Finally, we program the actual gain scheduling, in which the optimized gain-tuning for each subspace to be passed should be changed for various robot motions using $LabView^{(R)}$.

  • As the smart factory progresses, the use of automation facilities and robots is increasing. Also, with the development of IT technology, the utilization of the system using voice recognition is also increasing. Voice recognition technology is a technology that stands out in smart home and various IoT technologies, but it is difficult to apply to factories due to the specificity of factories. Therefore, in this study, a method to control an industrial articulated robot was designed using voice recognition technology that considers the situation at the manufacturing site. It was confirmed that the robot could be controlled through network protocol and command conversion after receiving voice commands for robot operation through mobile.

Sensor-Based Path Planning for Planar Two-identical-Link Robots by Generalized Voronoi Graph (일반화된 보로노이 그래프를 이용한 동일 두 링크 로봇의 센서 기반 경로계획)

  • The generalized Voronoi graph (GVG) is a topological map of a constrained environment. This is defined in terms of workspace distance measurements using only sensor-provided information, with a robot having a maximum distance from obstacles, and is the optimum for exploration and obstacle avoidance. This is the safest path for the robot, and is very significant when studying the GVG edges of highly articulated robots. In previous work, the point-GVG edge and Rod-GVG were built with point robot and rod robot using sensor-based control. An attempt was made to use a higher degree of freedom robot to build GVG edges. This paper presents GVG-based a new local roadmap for the two-link robot in the constrained two-dimensional environment. This new local roadmap is called the two-identical-link generalized Voronoi graph (L2-GVG). This is used to explore an unknown planar workspace and build a local roadmap in an unknown configuration space $R^2{\times}T^2$ for a planar two-identical-link robot. The two-identical-link GVG also can be constructed using only sensor-provided information. These results show the more complex properties of two-link-GVG, which are very different from point-GVG and rod-GVG. Furthermore, this approach draws on the experience of other highly articulated robots.

  • As the demand for industrial robots and Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) increases, higher performance is also required from them. Fuzzy controllers, as part of an intelligent control system, are a direct control method that leverages human knowledge and experience to easily control highly nonlinear, uncertain, and complex systems. This paper uses a $LabVIEW^{(R)}-based$ fuzzy controller with gain scheduling to demonstrate better performance than one could obtain with a fuzzy controller alone. First, the work area was set based on forward kinematics and inverse kinematics programs. Next, $LabVIEW^{(R)}$ was used to configure the fuzzy controller and perform the gain scheduling. Finally, the proposed fuzzy gain scheduling controller was compared with to controllers without gain scheduling.

Implementation of a 2-axis Additional Axes Strategy on a 6-axis Articulated Robot for Improving Welding Process Efficiency (2축 부가 축을 이용한 6축 수직 다관절로봇의 용접공정효율 증대를 위한 연구)

  • This paper aims to realize additional axes, which increase the processing efficiency of a robot by controlling in harmful environments. Ultimately, this is to create time and energy savings in industrial sites with 6-axis articulated welding robots (RS2). Using $RecurDyn^{(R)}$ a simulation technique is applied. The motion paths of the welding rod are compared for two cases in order to verify the necessity of the additional axes: 1) when there are no additional axes and 2) when there are additional axes during welding using the RS2. For this purpose, the angle variations of the RS2 axes required for the simulation are compared, on the assumption that each of the four points of the welding bed installed on the additional axes of the welding rod in $Solidworks^{(R)}$ is point-welded. Then, actual additional axes equipment is grafted on to the RS2 and the process times compared using $LabVIEW^{(R)}$.

Design of a Fuzzy-Sliding Mode Controller for a SCARA Robot to Reduce Chattering

  • To overcome problems in tracking error related to the unmodeled dynamics in the high speed operation of industrial robots, many researchers have used sliding mode control, which is robust against parameter variations and payload changes. However, these algorithms cannot reduce the inherent chattering which is caused by excessive switching inputs around the sliding surface. This study proposes a fuzzy-sliding mode control algorithm to reduce the chattering of the sliding mode control by fuzzy rules within a pre-determined dead zone. Trajectory tracking simulations and experiments show that chattering can be reduced prominently by the fuzzy-sliding mode control algorithm compared to a sliding mode control with two dead zones, and the proposed control algorithm is robust to changes in payload. The proposed control algorithm is implemented to the SCARA (selected compliance articulated robot assembly) robot using a DSP (digital signal processor) for high speed calculations.

  • In this study, an interactive programming method for robot in electronic part assembly task is proposed. Many of industrial robots are still taught and programmed by a teach pendant. The robot is guided by a human operator to the desired application locations. These motions are recorded and are later edited, within the robotic language using in the robot controller, and play back repetitively to perform robot task. This conventional teaching method is time-consuming and somewhat dangerous. In the proposed method, the operator teaches the desired locations on the image acquired through CCD camera mounted on the robot hand. The robotic language program is automatically generated and downloaded to the robot controller. This teaching process is implemented through an off-line programming software. The OLP is developed for an robotic assembly system used in this study. In order to transform the location on image coordinates into robot coordinates, a calibration process is established. The proposed teaching method is implemented and evaluated on an assembly system for soldering electronic parts on a circuit board. A six-axis articulated robot executes assembly task according to the off-line teaching in the system.

  • In recent years, medium- to large-scale transportation machinery and machine tool manufacturing process lines have shown a trend toward centralization, softening, lightening, and slimming to reduce costs and increase productivity. This has increased the demand for vertical articulated robots. When developing and introducing a heavy weight-handling robot that can be easily applied to existing production lines, it is expected to have a great effect in securing industrial competitiveness by solving industrial issues such as the decreased productivity and increased risk of accidents due to work involving heavy lifting. In this study, we design a 6-axis robot mechanism with a heavy load-handling capacity of 700kg or more for large-sized materials of various types supplied in small quantities.
