The purpose of this study is to analyze the spatial distribution and the linkage characteristics of the warehousing industry in Busan and to provide the policy implications for the warehousing industry in Korean port hinterland. We surveyed the warehousing firms in Busan. Categorizing the warehousing industry into industry types, sizes, and organization types on the basis of the survey, we attempted the point pattern analysis and the proximity analysis using the GIS. The warehousing industry in Busan had changed from a small single-unit firm to a medium or a large firm with a head office or branches. These were distributed in hinterland of North Harbor, South Harbor & Gamcheon Harbor, and Sin-Pyoung & Jang-Rim industrial complex and Sasang Industrial Complex constituting the spatial agglomeration. The warehousing industry in Busan formed the linkages with other sectors of the same logistics to provide manufacturing industries with various other services as well as storage services. The linkages were largely formed in the local scope with spatial proximity, generating the economic gains of agglomeration, which were transformed into the efficiency of the warehousing industry in the local scope to gradually expand the spatial dimensions of the linkages.
The "logistics industry" is recommended as an economic growth power in the future in Korea. In the past, Korea has handled China's freight volume overflow as a transfer hub. However, recently China has been constructing its own port facilities and many mega fleets have been moving to China's ports. As a result, the position of Korea's hub-ports facing a crisis. Now, new strategies are necessary for renovating Korea's logistics industry and international competitiveness. This study proposes a "value-added logistics cluster" as a new strategy. In particular, this study proposes a Korean value-added logistics cluster that maximizes Korea's locational and industrial advantages. Additionally, a model for a value-added logistics cluster is proposed for the rehabilitation of Korea's ports as logistics hubs in Northeast Asia. Many analyses are executed step-by-step to develop a Korean value-added logistics cluster model, such as an analysis of the relationship between the logistics industry and other industries for the definition of cluster components. Lastly, the Korean value-added logistics cluster model is applied to Kwangyang port, which is currently confronted with a crisis because of the decrease of freight volume.
In Gwangyang port, huge reclaiming work and developing harbor facilities are underway to built industrial complexes. So it is estimated that towing barges will increase and make overtaking, head-on, crossing situations with a lot of cargo vessels in narrow passages. And it is possible to cause severe marine accidents inside of the harbor. This paper has a purpose to produce some policies making navigational safety of towing-barge on Gwangyang Hysco temporary passage. So it is considered how the change of marine traffic capacity and the risk factors in passage navigation influence to towing-barge navigation. And also the questionnaire survey of pilots and VTS operator was conducted to find out what they think about the navigational safety of towing-barge incoming and outgoing in No.1 Yulchon industrial complexes.
Currently, we are living in the era of the 4th industrial revolution. In the field of shipping industry, the MASS is a revolutionary game changer in the making arising out of such an industrial and technical innovation in the pursuit of radically challenging the pre-existing system of a human-operated vessel. Given this trend, the entire maritime regulatory regime, which has been designed by, and intertwined with, human seaworthiness, abruptly faces the most unprecedented normative confrontations now and increasingly in the coming days. As the constitution of ocean, UNCLOS, provides, every flag state is obliged to effectively exercise its jurisdiction to secure technical and human seaworthiness. Moreover, the coastal state may institute protective proceedings against vessels in respect of any violations of its laws to protect its marine environment in maritime zones of the coastal state. Further, UNCLOS acknowledges that the port state's authority extends to take administrative measures to prevent sub-standard ships from sailing within the ports or offshore-terminals of the state. These three jurisdictional functions will be required to more closely interface with each other than ever over the legal and political implications created by MASS. Although states' jurisdictional nuances are significant in this present world tilting back to protectionism, there are few articles to present jurisdictional issues of states and conceivable normative discourse with regard to MASS. This articles visits potential jurisdictional conflicts underlying MASS and tries to strike balance between contradictory interpretive approaches under UNCLOS while it is undeniable that this doctrinal research tends to strive to find justifications within the current framework of international law.

Located mostly inside the megacity of Busan, the Busan Southern Port is a multifunctional port with various nearby industry activities, including a joint fish market, ship repair facilities, and fishing boat facilities. If toxic chemicals generated by the industrial activities continue to flow into and accumulate in the sediment of the port, they can affect aquatic ecosystems and humans. Therefore, in this study, distribution levels and potential influent sources of organic pollutants, including polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and butyltin compounds (BTs), in the sediment were investigated. The sediment samples were collected from eight sampling sites in November 2013 (first phase) and November 2014 (second phase). The mean concentrations of PAHs, PCBs, and BTs in the first and second sampling phages were 4174.0 ng/g-dry wt. and 1919.0 ng/g-dry wt., 166.3 ng/g-dry wt. and 21 ng/g-dry wt., and 50.9 ng/g-dry wt. and 30.8 ng/g-dry wt., respectively. The concentrations of the organic pollutants detected in the seabed sediments were lower in the second phase than in the first phase. In this study, the inflow sources of PAHs, PCBs, and BTs were found to be combustion, land, and municipal sewage or industrial wastewater, respectively.

The fuel oil/heat exchanger installed in military aircraft is a device that cools the lubricant oil supplied to other devices, such as an AMAD, and a hydraulic pump using the low temperature of the fuel is cracked at the AMAD lubricant inlet port. If a crack in the heat exchanger occurs, the lubricant oil supplied to other equipment is not cooled. Therefore, the flight can no longer be performed. In this study, non-destructive inspection and microscopic examination of the fracture surface of the oil port were performed to analyze the crack tendency. The oil pipe connected to the oil port is a titanium pipe, which is fastened with over torque and has been identified as the leading cause of heat exchanger oil port cracks. In addition, it was verified as the main reason for cracking by finite element analysis. The material and diameter of the pipe were changed to improve this defect, and the applied torque was adjusted. In addition, the bending value of the pipe was adjusted to minimize the fatigue accumulation due to pulsating pressure. As a result, no cracks occurred on the heat exchanger via the ground test after the installation of an improved pipe under the same conditions.
The Seaborne Trade Volume accounts for 97% of the total. This means that the port operation management system can improve port efficiency, reducing operating costs, and the manager who manages all operations at the port needs to check and respond quickly when delays of work and equipment support is needed. Based on the real-time location information confirmation of yard automation equipment used the existing system GPS, the real-time location information confirmation system is a GPS system of the tablet, rather than a port operation system that monitors location information for the entered information, depending on the completion of the task or the start of the task. Network configurations also reduce container processing delays by using commercial LTE services that do not have shading due to containers in the yard also reduce container processing delays. Trough introduction of smart devices using Android or IOS and container processing scheduling utilizing artificial intelligence, we will build a minimum delay system with Smart Device usage of container processing applications and optimization of container processing schedule. The adoption of smart devices and the minimization of container processing delays utilizing artificial intelligence are expected to improve the quality of port services by confirming the processing containers in real time to consumers who are container information demanders.
Due to the 4th Industrial Revolution announced at the Davos Forum, the World Economic Forum, in 2016, industrial trends around the world are changing rapidly and intelligently. Among them, the digital twin is drawing attention from all industries as a groundbreaking technology that reduces unnecessary costs and trial and error by implementing real objects, systems, and environments in the same way in the real virtual world and using them to perform simulation analysis. In particular, there is a lot of interest in the application of digital twin technology in solving ports safety and efficiency challenges at once. However, there is a lack of in-depth research for the application of digital twin technology in the port, and in particular, there is a lack of research on measurable data for the implementation of the digital twin in ports. The purpose of this study was to increase granularity and connectivity through measurable data investigation for the application of digital twin technology at container ports. Based on the study results, data factors for container port application were classified into crane data, operational data, physical data, and transportation data, and factor composition, correlation with factors, and fitness were confirmed through confirmatory factor analysis.
In June 2016, the term "Fourth Industrial Revolution" was first used at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, and it gained worldwide attention. Consequently, the importance of smart ports has increased as the shipping industry has been incorporating various Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies. Currently, major countries around the world are working to achieve digital transformation in the maritime and port industry by establishing comprehensive smart ports. However, the smartification of domestic ports in South Korea is currently limited to a few areas such as Busan, Incheon, and Gwangyang, focusing on port automation. In this context, this study performed keyword analysis to identify key components of smart ports and conducted Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) analysis among relevant stakeholders to determine the priorities for the Introduction of smart ports in South Korea. The analysis revealed that universities prioritized automation, intelligenceization, informatization and environmentalization in that order. Research institutes prioritized informatization, intelligenceization, automation and environmentalization. Government agencies prioritized informatization, automation, intelligenceization and environmentalization, while private sector enterprises prioritized automation, intelligenceization, informatization, and environmentalization.

We study a multi-component production/inventory system in which individual components are made to meet various demand types. We assume that the demands arrive according to a Poisson process, but there is a fixed probability that a demand requests a particular kit of different components. Each component is produced by a flow line with several stations. The production of each component is operated by the CONWIP control mechanism. To analyse this system, we propose an approximation method based on aggregation method. In application of the aggregation method, a product-form approximation technique as well as a matrix-geometric method is used. Comparisons with simulation show that the approximation method provides fairly good results.
