소프트 스위칭 모드에 의한 고역률의 AC-DC 강압형 컨버터 토폴로지 (AC-DC buck converter topology of high power factor with soft switching mode)

  • This paper proposed that a AC-DC Converter topology of high power factor with soft switching mode operates with four chopper connecting a number of parallel circuit. To improve these, a large number of soft switching topologies included a resonant circuit have been proposed. And, some simulative results on computer is included to confirm the validity of the analytical results. The partial resonant circuit makes use of a inductor using step up and a condenser of loss-less snubber. The result is that the switching loss is very low and the efficiency of system is high. And the snubber condenser used in partial resonant circuit makes charging engergy regenerated at input power source for resonant operation. The proposed conversion system is deemed the most suitable for high power applications where the power switching devices are used.

  • A new four level half-bridge converter is proposed in this paper. Compared to a conventional half-bridge converter and an asymmetric half-bridge converter, the proposed converter has less stress on power switching components and have smaller output inductor. Zero-voltage-switching condition is also achieved with the proposed converter. The operational principle, DC conversion ratio and ZVS analysis are presented. Experimental results are demonstrated to verify the feasibility and advantages of the new topologies.

  • A new high efficiency active clamp forward converter suitable for the sustaining power module(SPM) of a plasma display panel (PDP) is proposed. It has a wide zero voltage switching (ZVS) range without inserting additional resonant inductor. Also, it features simpler structure, lower cost, less mass, and no effective duty loss. Furthermore, voltages across all rectifier diodes are clamped on the output voltage, which results in a higher efficiency.

저압 방전등 교류 접등 특성의 이론적 예측 (Theoretical Prediction of AC Characteristics of Low Pressure Lamps)

  • In order to develop a mathematical model which can predict the operating voltage and current of a discharge lamp, the properties and the physical phenomena of a low pressure gas discharge are investigated. Fluorescent lamp which uses a low pressure mercury-argon gas discharge is used in the model development. In a low pressure mercur-argon gas discharge, the continuity equation for each excited atom and electron, and the electron energy balance equation can predict the physical quantities of discharge. By coupling these equations and the circuit equation, the electrical characteristics of the discharge lamp can be predicted. To verify the validity of the suggested model, we calculated the voltage and current of a fluorescent lamp operating with inductor ballast for source frequency of 5KHz, 8KHz, 10KHz, and 13KHz. The results show good agreements in wave forms between the measured voltage and current, and the difference between the measured and calculated one is less than 5%.

  • Modern business trends call for miniaturization of electronic systems. One of the major impedances in this miniaturization is the conductive and inductive components in chips and circuit boards. Direct Write Technology can write these soft magnetic materials, thus allowing for further miniaturization of inductor devices. Another obstacle in electronics fabrication is the size limitations of thick screen-printing and the material limitations in ink jet printing. Direct Write Technologies address both of these limitations by providing feature sizes less than 20 microns with a wide range of materials possibilities. A discussion of the application of these nano-particulate materials by Direct Write Technologies will be presented.

Single Input Multi Output DC/DC Converter: An Approach to Voltage Balancing in Multilevel Inverter

  • This paper presents a new DC/AC multilevel converter. This configuration uses single DC sources. The proposed converter has two stages. The first stage is a DC/DC converter that can produce several DC-links in the output. The DC/DC converter is one type of boost converter and uses single inductor. The second stage is a multilevel inverter with several capacitor links. In this paper, one single input multi output DC-DC converter is used in order to voltage balancing on multilevel converter. In addition, as compare to traditional multilevel inverter, presented DC/AC multilevel converter has less on-state voltage drop and conduction losses. Finally, in order to verify the theoretical issues, simulation and experimental results are presented.

Non-Isolated Unidirectional Three-Port Cuk-Cuk Converter for Fuel Cell/Solar PV Systems

  • A DC-DC Non-Isolated Three-Port Cuk-Cuk (NI-TPCC) converter for interfacing renewable energy sources (RESs) such as Fuel Cell (FC) and Photovoltaic (PV) energy with a DC load is presented in this paper. It features single-stage power conversion from both of the input ports to the load port. The proposed NI-TPCC converter is designed based on the classical Cuk converter. The operational modes and power flow are analyzed in the continuous conduction mode (CCM), and the relationships among the port voltages are derived. Continuous currents in all three ports with less ripple enhance the performance of a fuel cell and its operating life. Furthermore, the output inductor is shared with both of the input ports, which reduces the number of active and passive components. The effectiveness of the designed NI-TPCC converter has been validated through simulation and experimental results.

V2O5 도핑한 페라이트 페이스트로 제조된 칩인덕터의 자기적 특성 (Magnetic Properties of Chip Inductors Prepared with V2O5-doped Ferrite Pastes)

  • NiCuZn 페라이트에 $V_2O_{5}$를 0~0.5 wt% 첨가하여 페라이트 페이스트를 준비한 후,스크린 인쇄법으로 내부전극이 4.5회 회전된 임의의 크기(7.7$\times$4.5$\times$l.4 mm)의 칩인덕터를 제조하여, $V_2O_{5}$ 첨가량에 따른 미세구조 및 자기적 특성 변화를 분석하였다. $V_2O_{5}$첨가량이 증가할수록 액상소결이 발달하여 페라이트 입계에 내부전극 Ag의 확산과 Cu 석출 현상이 촉진되고, 이로 인하여 과대입자성장이 발달되었다. 이러한 현상은 칩인덕터의 자기적 특성에 큰 영향을 미쳐,900 $^{\circ}C$에서 소결된 $V_2O_{5}$ wt% 첨가시편의 주파수 10 MHz에서의 인덕턴스 값이 3.7$\mu$H로 0.3 wt% 첨가 시편의 4.2 $\mu$H보다 작게 나타났는데, 이는 Ag와 Cu의 석출량이 많아짐에 따라 잔류응력 발생이 심화되기 때문으로 생각된다 또한 $V_2O_{5}$ 0.5 wt% 첨가한 시편의 경우 소결온도가 증가함에 따라 품질계수 값이 감소하였는데, 이 결과도 페라이트 입계에서의 Ag나 Cu의 금속성분의 석출량 증가 및 과대입자성장에 의한 입자크기 증대로 인하여 전체 전기비저항이 감소되기 때문인 것으로 생각된다. 결론적으로 자기적 특성을 고려할 때 0.3 wt%가 적정 첨가량으로 나타났다.
