The dielectric properties and phase transformation of poled <001>-oriented $Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-x%PbTiO_3$(PMN-x%PT) single crystals with compositions of x = 20, 30, and 35 mole% are investigated for orientations both parallel and perpendicular to the [001] poling direction. An electric-field-induced monoclinic phase was observed for the initial poled PMN-30PT and PMN-35PT samples by means of high-resolution synchrotron x-ray diffraction. The monoclinic phase appears from $-25^{\circ}C$ to $100^{\circ}C$ and from $-25^{\circ}C$ to $80^{\circ}C$ for the PMN-30PT and PMN-35PT samples, respectively. The dielectric constant (${\varepsilon}$)-temperature (T) characteristics above the Curie temperature were found to be described by the equation$(1/{\varepsilon}-1/{\varepsilon}_m)^{1/n}=(T-T_m)/C$, where ${\varepsilon}_m$ is the maximum dielectric constant and $T_m$ is the temperature giving ${\varepsilon}_m$, and n and C are constants that change with the composition. The value of n was found to be 1.82 and 1.38 for 20PT and 35PT, respectively. The results of mesh scans and the temperature-dependence of the dielectric constant demonstrate that the initial monoclinic phase changes to a single domain tetragonal phase and a to paraelectric cubic phase. In the ferroelectric tetragonal phase with a single domain state, the dielectric constant measured perpendicular to the poling direction was dramatically higher than that measured in the parallel direction. A large dielectric constant implies easier polarization rotation away from the polar axis. This enhancement is believed to be related to dielectric softening close to the morphotropic phase boundary.

In this study, we investigated the optimum calcination temperature of lead-free $0.74(Bi_{0.5}Na_{0.5})TiO_3-0.26SrTiO_3$(BNST) piezoelectric ceramics by analyzing the crystal structure, dielectric properties, and electric field-induced strain behavior. BNST ceramics prepared by conventional solid-state reaction methods at various calcination temperatures according to the industrial standard. All samples of BNST ceramics were subsequently sintered at $1,175^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. Crystal structure classification of the ceramics showed a single perovskite phase, with no second phase detectable for the samples calcined at $750^{\circ}C$ or higher. BNST samples calcined at $850^{\circ}C$ exhibited the most optimal values for itsand the common physical parameters of $density=5.518g/cm^3$, ${\varepsilon}=1,871.837$, $tan{\delta}=0.047$, and ${d_{33}}^*=874pm/V$.
Electrical failures and reliability problems of electronic components by ionic migration between adjacent device terminals have become an issue in automotive electronics. Especially unlike galvanic corrosion, ionic migration is occurred at high temperature and high humidity under applied electric field condition. Until now, although extensive studies of the ionic migrations dealing with PCBs, electrodes, and solders were reported, there is no study on the effect of insulation polymers and metallic fillers for ionic migration. In this research, therefore, ionic migration induced by the types and contents of polymers and metallic fillers, and variety conditions of temperature, humidity, and applied voltage was studied in detail. Ester and amide types of liquid crystal polymer (LCP) and poly (phthalamide) (PPA) were used as base polymers, respectively and compounded with the metallic fillers of Copper iodide (CuI), Zinc stearate (Zn-st), or Calcium stearate (Ca-st) in various compositions. The compounding polymers were fabricated in IPC-B-24 of SIR test coupon according to ISO 9455-17 with Cu electrodes for ionic migration test. While there is no change in LCP-based samples, ionic migration in PPA compounding sample with a high water absorption property was accelerated in the presence of 0.25 wt% or above of CuI at the environmental conditions of 85℃, 85% RH and 48V. The dendritic short-circuit growth of Cu caused by ionic migration between the electrodes on the surface of compounded polymers was systematically observed and analyzed by using optical microscopy and SEM (EDX).

The physical properties of biomaterials are important for their isolation and separation from body fluids. In particular, the precise evaluation of the multi-physical properties of single biomolecules is essential in that the correlation between physical and biological properties of specific biomolecule. However, the majority of scientific equipment, can only determine specific-physical properties of single nanoparticles, making the evaluation of the multi-physical properties difficult. The improvement of analytical techniques for the evaluation of multi-physical properties is therefore required in various research fields. In this study, we developed a motion-tracking algorithm to evaluate the multi-physical properties of single-nanoparticles by analyzing their behavior. We observed the Brownian motion and electric-field-induced drift of fluorescent nanoparticles injected in a microfluidic chip with two electrodes using confocal microscopy. The proposed algorithm is able to determine the size of the nanoparticles by i) removing the background noise from images, ii) tracking the motion of nanoparticles using the circular-Hough transform, iii) extracting the mean squared displacement (MSD) of the tracked nanoparticles, and iv) applying the MSD to the Stokes-Einstein equation. We compared the evaluated size of the nanoparticles with the size measured by SEM. We also determined the zeta-potential and surface-charge density of the nanoparticles using the extracted electrophoretic velocity and the Helmholtz-Smoluchowski equation. The proposed motion-tracking algorithm could be employed in various fields related to biomaterial analysis, such as exosome analysis.
For enhancing productivity of glulam, high frequency (HF) curing technique was researched in this study. Heat energy is generated by electromagnetic energy dissipation when HF wave is applied to a dielectric material. Because both lamina and adhesives have dielectric property, internal heat generation would be occurred when HF wave is applied to glulam. Most room temperature setting adhesives such as phenol-resorcinol-formaldehyde (PRF) resin, which is popularly used for manufacturing glulam, can be cured more quickly as temperature of adhesives increases. In this study, dielectric properties of larch wood and PRF adhesives were experimentally evaluated, and the mechanism of HF heating, which induced the fast curing of glue layer in glulam, was theoretically analyzed. Result of our experiments showed relative loss factor of PRF resin, which leads temperature increase, was higher than that of larch wood. Also, it showed density and specific heat of PRF, which are resistance factors of temperature increase, were higher than those of wood. It was expected that the heat generation in PRF resin by HF heating would occur greater than in larch wood, because the ratio of relative loss factor to density and specific heat of PRF resin was greater than that of larch wood. Through theoretical approach with the experimental results, the relative strengths of ISM band HF electric fields to achieve a target heating rate were estimated.

In this paper, we described the laboratory layout of the optical CT in connection with the measurement of large current based on Magneto-Optic Effects. It was used He-Ne laser for light source and was used PIN-Photodiode for light receiver. The sensing section was organized by winding optical fiber around conductor on the concept that the rotation angle of polarizing axis by Faraday Effect is proportional to the applied current in to conduction. The optical signal passed through optical fiber sensor was induced to analyzer arranged in the direction of $\theta$ for input polarization, and then analyzed its rotation angle and researched on operating characteristics of optical CT for 60[Hz] AC current measurement from l00[A] to 1000[A] was carried out. In this results, the output signals induced linearly with the current and proved that the intensity is increased with increasing turns of fiber through output differences which in accordance with turns of fiber and we verified that there is not only difference of the output with the medium between electric field and optical fiber, but also the lineality. Measuring the references and output intensities of the optical CT, ratio errors were within $\pm$7%. This confirmed that error rate will be improved by each medium and turns.

Basically, the lattice mismatch between film and substrate can make those BiFeO3(BFO) films distorted with strain structure. BFO phase can be stabilized on LaAlO3(LAO) represents the example of a multiferroic with giant axial ratio. Its crystal structure is not strictly tetragonal, but tetragonal with a slight monoclinic distortion and related to the rotation of the oxygen octahedra. In this study, we show that phases with a tetragonal-like epitaxial BFO films can indeed be ferroelectric and also can be stabilized via epitaxial growth onto LAO. Recent reports on epitaxial BFO films show that the crystal structure changes from nearly rhombohedral ("R-like") to nearly tetragonal("T-like") at strains exceeding approximately -4.5%, with the "T-like" structure being characterized by a highly enhanced c/a ratio. While both the "R-like" and the "T-like" phases are monoclinic, our detailed x-ray diffraction results reveal asymmetry change from MA and MC type, respectively. By applying additional strain or by modifying the unit cell volume of the film by substituting Ba for Bi, the monoclinic distortion in the "T-like" MC phase is reduced, i.e. the system approaches a true tetragonal symmetry. There are two different M-H loops for $Bi_{1-x}Ba_xFeO_{3-{\delta}}$(BBFO) and BFO films on SrTiO3(STO) & LAO substrates. Along with the ferroelectric characterization, these magnetic data indicate that the BFO phase stabilized on LAO represents the first example of a multiferroic with giant axial ratio. However, there is a significant difference between this phase and other predicted ferroelectrics with a giant axial ratio: its crystal structure is not strictly tetragonal, but tetragonal with a slight monoclinic distortion. Therefore, in going from bulk to highly-strained films, a phase sequence of rhombohedral(R)-to-monoclinic ["R-like" MA-to-monoclinic, "T-like" MC-to-tetragonal (T)] is observed. This sequence is otherwise seen only near morphotropic phase boundaries in lead-based solid-solution perovskites (i.e. near a compositionally induced phase instability), where it can be controlled by electric field, temperature, or composition. Our results show that this evolution can occur in a lead-free, stoichiometric material and can be induced by stress alone. Those major results are summarized as follows ; 1) Ba-doping increases the unit cell volume, 2) BBFO on LAO can be fully strained up to x=0.08 as a strain limit (Fig. 1), 3) P(E) & M(H) properties can be tuned by the variation of composition, strain, and film thickness.
The study was undertaken to examine the possibility of the involvement of $K^+$ channels in the mechanism of relaxant-action of imipramine on the isolated canine detrusor muscle strips. Canine urinary bladder were isolated, and smooth muscle strips of 15 mm long and 2 mm wide from the mid-portion of anterior wall were made in the Tyrode solution of $0{\sim}4^{\circ}C$. The strips were prepared for isometric myography in Biancani's isolated muscle chamber containing 1 ml of Tyrode solution, which was maintained with pH 7.4 by aeration with $95%\;O_2/5%CO_2\;at\;37^{\circ}C$. RP 52891, a non-specific $K^+$ channel opener, concentration-dependently suppressed the spontaneous phasic contractions of the detrusor strips. Imipramine, a tricyclic antidepressant, also reduced the spontaneous contractions in a concentration-dependent manner. RP 52891 was more potent than imipramine(p<0.05), and Imipramine was more efficient than RP 52891(p<0.05).Procaine, a voltage-dependent $K^+$ channel blocker, glibenclamide, an ATP-dependent $K^+$ channel blocker, and apamin, a calcium-dependent $K^+$ channel blocker antagonized the relaxant effect of RP 52891, but not of imipramine. Imipramine reduced the electric field stimulation (EFS) -induced contractions concentration-dependently. None of the $K^+$ channel blockers employed for this study, procaine, glibenclamide or apamin antagonized the inhibitory action of imipramine on the EFS-induced contraction. These results suggest that in canine detrusor, the $K^+$ channels of the characteristics of voltage-dependent, ATP-dependent and/or calcium-dependent are exist, and the inhibitory action of imipramine on the contractility of the detrusor is independent from the $K^+$ channels.
In this paper, we propose a real-time method of detecting hand motions and extracting the signal frame induced by EF(Electric Field) sensors. The signal induced by hand motion includes not only noises caused by various environmental sources as well as sensor's physical placement, but also different initial off-set conditions. Thus, it has been considered as a challenging problem to detect the motion signal and extract the motion frame automatically in real-time. In this study, we remove the PLN(Power Line Noise) using LPF with 10Hz cut-off and successively apply MA(Moving Average) filter to obtain clean and smooth input motion signals. To sense a hand motion, we use two thresholds(positive and negative thresholds) with offset value to detect a starting as well as an ending moment of the motion. Using this approach, we can achieve the correct motion detection rate over 98%. Once the final motion frame is determined, the motion signals are normalized to be used in next process of classification or recognition stage such as LSTN deep neural networks. Our experiment and analysis show that our proposed methods produce better than 98% performance in correct motion detection rate as well as in frame-matching rate.
Extremely low frequency electro magnetic fields (EMFs) have been classified as possibly carcinogenic to humans by the International Agency for Research on Cancer. An increased number of chromosomal alterations in peripheral lymphocytes are correlated with elevated incidence of cancer. The aim of the present study was to assess occupationally induced chromosomal damage in EMF workers exposed to low levels of radiation. We used conventional metaphase chromosome aberration (CA) analysis and the micronucleus (MN) assay as biological indicators of non ionizing radiation exposure. In the present study totally 70 subjects were selected including 50 exposed and 20 controls. Informed written consent was obtained from all participants and the study was performed in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki and the approval of the local ethical committee. A higher degree of CA and MN was observed in exposed subjects compared to controls, the frequency of CA being significantly enhanced with long years of exposure (P<0.05). Moreover increase in CA and MN with age was noted in both exposed subjects and controls, but was significantly greater in the former. The results of this study demonstrated that a significant induction of cytogenetic damage in peripheral lymphocytes of workers occupationally exposed to EMFs in electric transformer and distribution stations. In conclusion, our findings suggest that EMFs possess genotoxic capability, as measured by CA and MN assays; CA analysis appeared more sensitive than other cytogenetic end-points. It can be concluded that chronic occupational exposure to EMFs may lead to an increased risk of genetic damage among electrical workers.
