This study has been developed the way that evaluates the road safety using the speed of individual vehicles at curve sections in 2-lane rural highways. For this study, we developed variation of operational speed for the individual vehicle using the speed of vehicles in 96points of selected roads. Drawing out of variation of operational speed for the individual vehicle, estimation models for speed variation of individual vehicles considering horizontal alignments and vertical alignments of the roads have been developed. These models presents the way to evaluate road safety out of the operational speed and acceleration of individual vehicles. Considering safety and based on the results of these study above, some regular spots are ranked by "good", "fair", "bad". The results that this study showed in this paper could be useful to derive some particular spots that needs to be improve in terms of safety.
Purpose: Greenhouse gases are one of the major causes of global warming, a global disaster. In this study, the priority that affects when calculating the GHG emissions in the road sector is accurately calculated based on the speed of individual vehicles from the existing section average speed. I have the purpose of finding a possible factor. Method: A comparative analysis is conducted between the conventional method of the general passage section, the rest area section, the entrance section, and the confluence section of the highway and the speed-based emission calculation method of individual vehicles. Result: As a result of analyzing a total of 6 sections of the Gyeongbu Expressway, it was found that the standard deviation of the speed and the congestion of the sections had a great influence. Conclusion: When comparing the existing GHG emission calculation method with the speed-based emission calculation method of individual vehicles, it is clear that the speed-based method of individual vehicles is more precise. However, since it is difficult to apply it all over the country, this study compares the existing method with the speed-based method of individual vehicles and presents factors that have a significant difference.
In this paper, we introduce a system that detects all kinds of violations at a street intersection such as red light running, speed violation, stop line violation and lane violation by tracking individual vehicles. Two cameras are used for defecting violations. One is an analog camera for real-time tracking and the other is a digital camera for license plate reading. This system is connected to the traffic signal system controller and monitors the red, arrow, yellow and green phases of an approach. Two loops in the road are used to detect vehicle approach and speed. The system takes pictures of all vehicles passing a second loop and tracks the vehicles until they go out a street intersection...

The number of traffic accidents is about 230,000, and due to non-recurring congestion and high driving speed, the number of deaths per traffic accident on freeways is more than twice compared to other roads. Currently, traffic information is provided based on nodes and links using the centerline of the road, but it does not provide detailed speed information. Recently, installing sensors for vehicles to monitor obstacles and measure location is becoming common not only for autonomous vehicles but also for ordinary vehicles as well. The analysis using large-capacity location-based data from such sensors enables real time service according to processing speed. This study presents an mapping method for individual vehicle data analysis based on space. The processing speed of large-capacity data was increased by using method which applied a quaternary notation basis partition method that splits into two directions of longitude and latitude respectively. As the space partition was processed, the average speed was similar, but the speed standard deviation gradually decreased, and decrease range became smaller after 9th partition.
Purpose: Greenhouse gases are one of the major causes of global warming, a global disaster. This study aims to calculate road sector greenhouse gas emissions more precisely than conventional methods. Method: Currently, the average speed of a vehicle is used to calculate greenhouse gas emissions. In this study, GHG emissions are calculated using the speed of individual vehicles and compared with current methods. Result: It was confirmed that the existing emission estimation method underestimated about 15% in the case of carbon dioxide, about 1% in the case of nitrous oxide, and about 1% in the case of methane. Conclusion: Current methods of estimating greenhouse gas emissions were developed before 2000 and were developed to meet the limits of available data. However, with the advancement of technology, the quality of available data is now high, and new emissions estimation methods are needed. Therefore, in this study, we propose a method for estimating the velocity-based greenhouse gas emissions of individual vehicles as a more accurate method for calculating greenhouse gas emissions.

The number of freeway traffic accidents in Korea is about 4,000 as of 2020, and deaths per traffic accident is about 3.7 times higher than other roads due to non-recurring congestion and high driving speed. Most of the accident types on freeways are side and rear-end collisions, and one of the main factors is hazard traffic flow caused by merge, diverge and accidents. Therefore, the hazard traffic flow, which appears in a continuous flow such as a freeway, can be said to be important information for the driver to prevent accidents. This study tried to classify hazard traffic flows, such as the speed change point and the section where the speed difference by lane, using individual vehicle information. The homogeneous segment of speed was classified using spatial separation based on geohash and space mean speed that can indicate the speed difference of individual vehicles within the same section and the speed deviation between vehicles. As a result, I could extract the diverging influence segment and the hazard traffic flow segment that can provide dangerous segments information of freeways.
The purpose of this study is to estimate consumer preferences on hybrid cars and electric cars by employing a choice experiment reflecting the various market conditions, such as different projected market shares of green vehicles and $CO_2$ emission regulations. Depending on different market scenarios, we examine as to which attribute and individual characteristic affect the preferences of potential consumers on green vehicles and further, forecast the potential market shares of green cars. The primary results, estimated by a conditional logit and panel probit models, indicate that sales price, fuel cost, maximum speed, emission of air pollutants, fuel economy, and distance between fuel stations can significantly affect consumer's choice of environment-friendly cars. The second finding is that the unique features of electric cars might better appeal to consumers as the market conditions for electric cars are improved. Third, education, age, and gender can significantly affect individual preferences. Finally, as the market conditions become more favorable toward green cars, the forecasted market shares of hybrid and electric vehicles will increase up to 67% and 14%.

The road traffic noise becomes aggravated due to the rapid increase of motor vehicles. It has a great effect ell the dwelling environment. We Investigated characteristics and sources of the motor vehicle noise through grasping the status of the motor vehicle noise. Traffic noise results from the collective contribution of the noise produced by individual motor vehicles. The motor vehicle noise varies enormously depending upon its type and mode of operation. This Paper is concerned with the relationship between the vehicle running speed and the noise level under accelerated and steady running.

Since mobile source is a major source of VOCs, quantifying emissions from motor vehicles is an important factor to control VOCs in atmosphere. In this study, in order to evaluate tailpipe VOCs emissions from motor vehicles, mass emissions of non-methane volatile organic compounds from 45 vehicles were determined. Measurements were made on a chassis dynamometer using CVS-75 mode and speed specific drive modes. Target VOCs are 53 compounds determined as the volatile ozone precursors. The individual VOCs composition of vehicle emission and emission rates were also determined. In case of gasoline vehicles, VOCs emission from over 80,000 km vehicles were about 46% larger than less 80,000 km vehicles. The difference in benzene and toluene according to driving mileage was 44% and 26% respectively. The composition of VOCs were different by fuel type. The order of VOCs composition was paraffins>aromatics>olefins in gasoline vehicle emissions, paraffins>olefins>aromatics in light duty diesel vehicle emissions. The VOCs emissions were decreased as vehicle speed increasing. These results will be used to calculate total VOCs emissions from automobiles in the future.
Video image processing systems(VIPS) offer numerous benefits to transportation models and applications, due to their ability to monitor traffic in real time. VIPS based on wide-area detection, i.e., multi-lane surveillance algorithm provide traffic parameters with single camera such as flow and velocity, as well as occupancy and density. However, most current commercial VIPS utilize a tripwire detection algorithm that examines image intensity changes in the detection regions to indicate vehicle presence and passage, i.e., they do not identify individual vehicles as unique targets. If VIPS are developed to track individual vehicles and thus trace vehicle trajectories, many existing transportation models will benefit from more detailed information of individual vehicles. Furthermore, additional information obtained from the vehicle trajectories will improve incident detection by identifying lane change maneuvers and acceleration/deceleration patterns. The objective of this research was to relate traffic safety to VIPS tracking and this paper has developed a computer vision system of monitoring individual vehicle trajectories based on image processing, and offer the detailed information, for example, volumes, speed, and occupancy rate as well as traffic information via tripwire image detectors. Also the developed system has been verified by comparing with commercial VIP detectors.
