The trend of globalization has sharpened the debate on interculturality, which scholars examine from different and often conflicting points of view ('content' vs. 'practice', 'culture-specific' vs. 'universal', 'communication (meta)theory' vs. 'communication practice', 'individual' vs. 'collective', etc.). Whereas all these approaches are necessary to describe the multiple dimensions of interculturality, their dichotomous nature does not help to account for its internal complexity, which cannot be dissociated from the connections that exist among all these dimensions. The difficulty posed by the essentialist interpretations that tend to result from these dichotomies is compounded by the fact that in postmodern debates priority has been given to approaches that emphasize individual or collective agency over structural constraints which have to do with political economy or with cultural and linguistic codes and traditions. This paper aims mainly at suggesting that the dissolution of the boundaries that exist between these approaches should be pursued in order to get a fuller and richer approach to their common object of study. After discussing, by way of illustration, content-based and practice-based perspectives, we suggest that one way of getting beyond these dichotomies consists in focusing on the 'interactional' dimension of interculturality, which means laying emphasis on intersubjectivity and, particularly, on the individual subjects considered as members of different cultural communities who strive to transcend their sociocultural boundaries in order to reach harmonious interactions in a world in which inequality and the de-territorialization of people and cultures are central features.
In modern society, user privacy is emerging as an important issue as closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems increase rapidly in various public and private spaces. If CCTV cameras monitor sensitive areas or personal spaces, they can infringe on personal privacy. Someone's behavior patterns, sensitive information, residence, etc. can be exposed, and if the image data collected from CCTV is not properly protected, there can be a risk of data leakage by hackers or illegal accessors. This paper presents an innovative approach to "machine learning based reversible chaotic masking method for user privacy protection in CCTV environment." The proposed method was developed to protect an individual's identity within CCTV images while maintaining the usefulness of the data for surveillance and analysis purposes. This method utilizes a two-step process for user privacy. First, machine learning models are trained to accurately detect and locate human subjects within the CCTV frame. This model is designed to identify individuals accurately and robustly by leveraging state-of-the-art object detection techniques. When an individual is detected, reversible chaos masking technology is applied. This masking technique uses chaos maps to create complex patterns to hide individual facial features and identifiable characteristics. Above all, the generated mask can be reversibly applied and removed, allowing authorized users to access the original unmasking image.

A thermal camera is used to obtain thermal information of a certain area. However, it is difficult to depict all the information of an area in an individual thermal image. To form a high-resolution panoramic thermal image, we propose an optimized FAST (feature from accelerated segment test) algorithm to combine two or more images of the same scene. The FAST is an accurate and fast algorithm that yields good positional accuracy and high point reliability; however, the major limitation of a FAST detector is that multiple features are detected adjacent to one another and the interest points cannot be obtained under no significant difference in thermal images. Our proposed algorithm not only detects the features in thermal images easily, but also takes advantage of the speed of the FAST algorithm. Quantitative evaluation shows that our proposed technique is time-efficient and accurate. Finally, we create a mosaic of the video to analyze a comprehensive view of the scene.
In case of the BTL Project for current educational faculties, the proper standards to analyze those said educational standards lack, so it is very difficult to conduct an exact analysis and those improper standards are problematic when proper management and maintenance costs are calculated. In case of such educational facilities, as students have to use them safely for a long time and the quantity of their activities and the status of their physical growth based on individual classes, as well as the features for use by facility and the regional characteristics are different, other standards for maintenance and management must be considered unlike an apartment house. Thus, in this study, to set up the standards considering the features of educational facilities, the maintenance and management level suitable for educational facilities is presented by comparing and analysing that required to maintain and manage an apartment house, targeting the experts specializing management of educational facilities.
This paper presents fingerprint authentication method based on minutiae quadrangle definded by neighboring two Delaunay triangles. In this method, we first make minutiae triangle through Delaunay triangulation which adaptively connect neighboring minutiae according to the local minutiae density distribution, and then use feature vectors in authentication which is extracted from the minutiae quadrangle formed by neighboring two minutiae triangles. This prevents the degradation of matching ratio caused by the errors in image processing or local deformation of the fingerprint, and we can authenticate more discriminately as this method reflects wider local area's topological features than the features extracted from the individual minutiae triangles. To evaluate the proposed algorithm's performance, experiment are conducted on 120 fingerprints, of which size is 256 ${\times}$ 364 with 500dpi resolution. Robust authentications are possible with low FRR.

This paper presents a new algorithm for surface segmentation and feature description. The algorithm extracts the signature of an edge image based on the signature technqique[12] in the first stage. If there exists a range in the angle axis where more than two signatures form a closed curve, we can conclude there is a surface inside the range. Using this feature of the signature, surfaces can be segmented. The surface features such as number of vertices, number of edges, and type of surfaces can also be extracted by finding the signatures of individual surfaces. This algorithm has distinguished advantages: it can easily recover the lost part occuring in the edge iage using the curve fitting method and it can extract surface features even when surfaces are rotated in 3-D space.
The aim of this paper is to analyze vowels in voice imitation and disguised voice, and to find the invariable phonetic features of the speaker. In this paper we examined the formants of monophthongs /a, u, i, o, {$\omega},{\;}{\varepsilon},{\;}{\Lambda}$/. The results of the present are as follows : $\circled1$ Speakers change their vocal tract features. $\circled2$ Vowels /a, ${\varepsilon}$, i/ appear to be proper for speaker recognition since they show invariable acoustic feature during voice modulation. $\circled3$ F1 does not change easily compared to higher formants. $\circled4$ F3-F2 appears to be constituent for a speaker identification in vowel /a/ and /$\varepsilon$/, and F4-F2 in vowel /i/. $\circled5$ Resulting of F-ratio, differences of each formants were more useful than individual formant of a vowel to speaker recognition.
In this paper, the relocation of a mobile robot is considered such that it enables the robot to determine its position with respect to a global reference frame without any $\alpha$ priori position information. The robot acquires sonar range data from a two-dimensional model composed of planes, corners, edges, and cylinders. Considering individual range as data features, the robot searches the best position where the data features of a position matches the environmental model using a constraint-based search method. To increase the search efficiency, a hypothesize and-verify technique is employed in which the position of the robot is calculated from all possible combinations of two range returns that satisfy the sonar sensing model. Accurate relocation is demonstrated with the results from sets of experiments using sparse sonar data in the presence of unmodeled objects.
This study uses a network approach to investigate the structural characteristics of sub-organizations within public research institutes in order to obtain their implications for organizational structures. We construct a network based on research similarities between sub-organizations because sub-organizations generally build their own research portfolios. We examine how sub-units are organized based on their structural features. The structural features are compared between three public research institutes in different countries: the Korean the Government-funded Research Institutes (GRIs), the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft in Germany, and the National Laboratories (NLs) in the United States. The structural comparison helps to identify organizational characteristics and to differentiate between them. We found little common ground in the research areas between the GRIs because individual sub-organizations have distinct research portfolios. Therefore, the organizational hierarchy of research in the GRIs is less matured than it is in other public research institutes. This study suggests that the GRIs need to establish integrated strategies in order to strengthen the common knowledge base.
Phyllodes tumor of the breast, especially malignant, is a rare tumor which has characteristic cytologic features. We recently experienced a case of fine needle aspiration cytology of malignant phyllodes tumor of the breast metastatic to the lung. The aspirate showed cellular smear with biphasic population of epithelial and stromal cells. Many individual large cells with round hyperchromatic nuclei were found in the necrotic background and stromal cell atypia was also present. Chondrosarcomatous fragments were also seen in cytologic specimens.
