  • In web-based education environment, it is necessary to provide individually adjusting feedback according to learner's characteristic. Despite this necessity, it is a current state that there are difficulties in deriving the variables of learners' characteristics and lack in developing the systematic strategies and practical tools for providing individually adjusting feedback. This study analyzed the learners' learning patterns, one of learner's characteristic variables regarded as important in web-based teaching and learning environment by employing Apriori algorithm, and also grouped the learners by learning pattern. Under this framework, the e-SRM feedback system was designed and developed to provide learning content, learning channel, and learning situation, etc. for individual learners. The proposed system in this study is expected to provide an optimal learning environment complying with learner's characteristic.

  • In this paper, a mobile quiz system using SMS has been developed, which can be conveniently used on the spot of education. The system immediately not only provides each individual student with the results of his/her quizzes but also a instructor with the statistics of the results by SMS. Field tests of the quiz system have shown that it can be effectively used as a good teaching tool for teachers getting immediate feedback from participants in the lecture and adjusting teaching level as well as for inducing more interest in learning from participants and raising their concentration on the class.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify and describe nurses' experience of a career ladder program (CLP) in a general hospital in Korea. Methods: The data were collected from 15 nurses who participated in the CLP. Each nurse completed individual in-depth interviews, for which the main interview question was "How do you describe your experience of CLP?" All interview data were transcribed and were analyzed using the grounded theory method. Results: The core category of the experience of CLP was identified as "challenging to rebirth as an expert". The participants used five action/interaction strategies such as "taking some time for introspection", "appreciating the essence of nursing", "making use of feedback positively", "throwing away doubts about their own capabilities", "exerting themselves with confidence". The consequence of the process of adjusting to CLP was "positioning a differentiated expert". Conclusion: The results of this study show that participants recognized CLP as a powerful resource which leads them to professional growth and development. Thus, CLP could be utilized as a clinical career-promoting program and ultimately as a program for providing high-quality nursing services.
