  • Various wt. ratios of indium were doped to the poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)-poly(styreneswulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) to enhance the conductivity and transmittance. The transmittance of the films increased with increasing the amount of indium. The field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) image of 2.54 wt. % of indium doped PEDOT:PSS film shows large number of aggregated indium particles. However, more than 2.54 wt. % of indium doped PEDOT:PSS films showed reduced aggregated indium particles. Moreover, 4.47 wt. % of indium doped PEDOT:PSS film showed no aggregated particles. The resistivity of pure PEDOT:PSS film showed $880k{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$. The resistivity of 1.03 wt. % indium doped film reduced approximately 26 times compared with pure PEDOT:PSS film. The resistivity of indium doped film further reduced with increasing the amount of indium, which showed approximately $0.55k{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ for the PEDOT:PSS film doped 4.47 wt. % of indium.

  • Indium, element of group III, was refined by using zone refining for high purity refinement. We have found the impurities of T1, Zn, Fe, Cd, Pb, Ni, Cu, Sn in the refined indium with ICP-AES, so that 3.9 weight ppm of T1 was reduced to less than 1 ppm, 1.0 weight ppm of Zn was reduced to 0.7 ppm, 2.8 weight ppm of Cd was reduced to 2.5 ppm and 14.0 weight ppm of Sn was reduced to 6.7 ppm with 5 melten zone passes only. 3.9 weight ppm of T1 was reduced to less than 1 ppm, 1.0 weight ppm of Zn was reduced to 0.3 ppm, 2.8 weight ppm of Cd was reduced to less than 1.0 ppm and 14.0 weight ppm of Sn was reduced to 0.4 ppm after vacuum baking with 5 melten zone passes. The surface morpholgy of metal Indium thin film in each conditions showed that porosities were reduced in the front of sampled ingot after vacuum baking with 5 zone melten zone passes. The average electrical resistivity of Indium thin film was reduced from 1.4*10$^{-3}$ .ohm.-cm in Indium origin ingot to 7.9*10$^{-6}$ .ohm.-cm after zone refined with 5 melten zone passes.

  • InGaN/GaN multiple quantum wells (MQWs) grown with various growth interruptions between the InGaN well and GaN barrier by metal-organic chemical vapor deposition were investigated using photoluminescence, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, and energy filtered transmission electron microscopy (EFTEM). The luminescence intensity of the MQWs with growth interruptions is abruptly reduced compared to that of the MQW without growth interruption. Also, as the interruption time increases the peak emission shows a continuous blue shift. Evidence of indium clustering is directly observed both by using an indium ratio map of the MQWs and from indium composition measurements along an InGaN well using EFTEM. The higher intensity and lower energy emission of light from the MQW grown without interruption showing indium clustering is believed to be caused by the recombination of excitons localized in indium clustering regions and the increased indium composition in these recombination centers.

  • Various nitrobenzaldehydes were simultaneously allylated and reduced using indium in the presence of HCl in aqueous media to give compounds having both functionality of homoallylic alcohol and aromatic amine. Sequential protection of the amino gro up and oxidation of the anilinyl homoallylic alcohol provided useful precursors of heterocyclic compounds such as dihydroindolones and dihydroquinolones, which could be efficiently synthesized through intramolecular cyclization reaction.

  • In this paper, indium reduced materials for transparent conductive electrodes (TCE) were fabricated and their physical properties were evaluated. Two of materials, indium-zinc-tin oxide (IZTO) and aluminum (Al) were selected as TCE materials. In case of IZTO nanoparticles, composition ratios of In, Zn and Sn is 8:1:1 were synthesized. Size of the synthesized IZTO nanoparticles were less than 10 nm, and specific surface areas were about $90m^2/g$ indicating particle sizes are very fine. Also, the IZTO nanoparticles were well crystallized with (222) preferred orientation despite it was synthesized at the lowered temperature of $300^{\circ}C$. Composition ratios of In, Zn and Sn were very uniform in accordance with those as designed. Meanwhile, Al was deposited onto glass by sputtering in a vacuum chamber for mesh architecture. The Al was well deposited onto the glass, and no pore was observed from the Al surface. The sheet resistance of Al on glass was about $0.3{\Omega}/{\square}$ with small deviation of $0.025{\Omega}/{\square}$, and adhesion was good on the glass substrate since no pelt-off part of Al was observed by tape test. If the Al mesh is combined with ink coated layer which is consistent of IZTO nanoparticles, it is expected that the good and reliable metal mesh architecture for TCE will be formed.

  • In this paper, we report the research highlight on the preparation and characterization of Indium-free $Cu_2ZnSnSe_4$ and Indium-reduced $CulnZnSe_2$ thin films in order to seek the viability of these absorber materials to be applied in thin film solar cells. The films of $Cu_2ZnSnSe_4\;and\;CulnZnSe_2$ were prepared using mixed binary chalcogenides powders. It was observed that Cu concentration was a function of substrate temperature as well as CuSe mole ratio in the target. Under an optimized condition, $Cu_2ZnSnSe_4\;and\;CulnZnSe_2$ thin films grew with strong [112]. [220/204] and [312/116] reflections. Both $Cu_2ZnSnSe_4\;and\;CulnZnSe_2$ films were found to exhibit a high absorption coefficient of $104^4cm^{-1}\;Cu_2ZnSnSe_4$ film showed a band gap of 1.5eV which closes to the optimum band gap of an ideal solar absorber for a solar cell. On the other side, an increase of optical band gap from 1.0 to 1.25eV was found to be proportional with an increase of Zn concentration in the $CulnZnSe_2$ film. All films in this study revealed a p-type semiconductor characteristic.

  • In this report, Indium-free and Indium-reduced thin film materials for solar absorber were studied in order to search alternative materials for thin film solar cell. The films of $Cu_2ZnSnSe_4$ and $Cu_2ZnSnSe_2$ were deposited using mixed binary chalcogenides powders. From the film bulk analysis result, it is observed that Cu concentration is a function of substrate temperature as well as CuSe mole ratio in the target. Under optimized conditions, $Cu_2ZnSnSe_4$ and $Cu_2ZnSnSe_2$ thin films grow with strong (112), (220/204) and (312/116) reflections. Films are found to exhibit a high absorption coefficient of $10^4$ $cm^{-1}$. $Cu_2ZnSnSe_4$ film shows a 1.5 eV band gap. On the other side, an increasing of optical band gap from 1.0 eV to 1.25 eV ($CuInSnSe_2$) is found to be proportional with an increasing of Zn concentration. All films have a p-type semiconductor characteristic with a carrier concentration in the order of $10^{14}$ $cm^{-3}$, a mobility about $10^1$ $cm^{2{\cdot}-1.}S^{-1}$ and a resistivity at the range of $10^2-10^6$ ${\Omega}{\cdot}m$.

  • Transparent conduction oxides (TCOs) films is extensively reported for optoelectronic devices application such as touch panels, solar cells, liquid crystal displays (LCDs), and organic light emitting diodes(OLEDs). Among the many TCO film, indium tin oxide(ITO) is in great demand due to the growth of flat panel display industry. However, indium is not only high cost but also its deposits dwindling. Therefore, many studies are being done on the transparent conductive oxides(TCOs). We fabricated a target of IZTO(In2O3:ZnO:SnO2=70:15:15 wt.%) reduced indium. Then, IZTO thin films were deposited on glass substrates by pulsed DC magnetron sputtering with various oxygen flow ratio. The substrate temperature was fixed at the room temperature. We investigated the electrical, optical, structural properties of IZTO thin films. The electrical properties of IZTO thin films were dependent on the oxygen partial pressure. As a result, the most excellent properties of IZTO thin films were obtained at the 3% of oxygen flow rate with the low resistivity of $7.236{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}cm$. And also the optical properties of IZTO thin films were shown the good transmittance over 80%. These IZTO thin films were used to fabricated organic light emitting diodes(OLEDs) as anode and the device performances studied. The OLED with an IZTO anode deposited at optimized deposition condition showed good brightness properties. Therefore, IZTO has utility value of TCO electrode although it reduced indium and we expect it is possible for the IZTO to apply to flexible display due to the low processing temperature.

  • The different concentration Indium doped ZnO:Al films were grown on glass substrates (Corning 1737) at $200^{\circ}C$ by pulsed laser deposition. The indium doping in AZO films shows the critical effect on the crystallinity, resistivity, and optical properties of the films. The AZO films doped with 0.3 atom % indium content exhibit the highest crystallinity, the lowest resistivity of $4.5\times10^{-4}\Omega$-cm, and the maximum transmittance of 93%. The resistivity of the indium doped-AZO films is strongly related with the crystallinity of the films. The carrier concentration in the indium doped-AZO films linearly increases with increasing indium concentration. The mobility of the AZO films with increasing indium concentration was reduced with an increase in carrier concentration and the decrease in mobility was attributed to the ionized impurity scattering mechanism. In an optical transmittance, the shift of the optical absorption edge to shorter wavelength strongly depends on the electronic carrier concentration in the films.

  • It is confirmed that the ITO(Indium Tin Oxide) thin films can be etched by low-temperature plasma at atmospheric pressure. The etching happened deepest at a hydrogen flow rate of 4 sccm, and the etch rate was 120 /min. The etching speed corresponded to the H$\alpha$* emission intensity The etching mechanism of the ITO thin films is as follows; thin films were reduced by H$\alpha$*, and the metal compound residues were detached from the substrate by reacting on the CH* The etching was started after etching time of initial 50 sec and above the threshold temperature of 145$^{\circ}C$. The activation energy of 0.16 eV(3.75 Kcal/mole) was obtained from the Arrehenius plots.
