This study was carried out to identify dietary risk factors for childhood obesity. The study subjects were male children, aged 2-6years, who were enrolled in nursery schools and kindergartens. We obtained anthropometric measurements from 949 boys and dietary questionnaires from 253 boys. The subjects were classified into two groups using the BMI criteria, normal (n=200) group with the BMI below 85th percentile and the obese group with the BMI at 85th percentile and above (n=53). The logistic regression analysis showed that the odds ratios (OR) for obesity were, birth weight greater than 4.0㎏ (3.27) , increased meal speed (4.98) , the frequency of overeating more than twice a week (2.63), the consumption of cooked rice more than one bowl per meal (2.77), the consumption of milk and dairy products less than 5 times a week (2.81), and increased maternal meal speed (1.98). Stepwise multiple logistic regression analyses showed that the variables which contribute to obesity significantly were birth weight greater than 4.0 ㎏ (OR 5.19), the frequency of overeating more than twice a week (OR 2.51) , the consumption of cooked rice more than one bowl per meal (OR 2.74), and the consumption of milk and dairy products less than 5 times a week (OR 4.43) (p<0.0001) . The results of this study indicate that dietary habits of both children and of their mothers as well as child's birth weight are important variables that contribute to childhood obesity. Evaluating and designing secondary clarifier require to define characteristics of influent MLSS (Mixed Liquor Suspended Solids). In this study, bioflocculation and settling characteristics for MLSS from a Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR) plant located in near Seoul were measured. MLSS concentrations in bioreactor were about 2,500mg/L in summer and about 4,000mg/L in winter, respectively. Tests showed that there was not much bioflocculation occurred in secondary clarifier. Average ESS/DSS (Effluent Suspended Solids/Dispersed Suspended Solids) was 100%. From the settling tests, ZSV (Zone Settling Velocity) and settling constant (n) in Vesilind equation were estimated at different MLSS temperatures. SVI (Sludge Volume Index) and SSVI (Stirred Sludge Volume Index) were also measured at different temperatures. It was found that ZSV was positively correlated with temperature and n was inversely proportional to temperature. SVI and SSVI had very similar values at about $25^{\circ}C$ of MLSS, However, SVI had more than 2 times higher values than SSVI at below $20^{\circ}C$ of MLSS. Temperature effect must be considered to design and evaluate secondary clarifier.

Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Progressive muscle relaxation training on pain, Korean version of Oswestry disability index (ODI) and psychological level in chronic low back pain patients with somatization. Methods: A total of 30 subjects were treated with the experimental group (n=15) and conservative physical therapy (n=15). The experimental group was trained with progressive muscle relaxation (PMR), and the control group was treated with conservative physical therapy. Physical factor treatment was applied for 60 minutes by hot pack, electrotherapy and ultrasound. Both groups performed three times a week for six weeks. VAS, ODI, psychological level measurements were taken before and after intervention. Results: There was a significant difference in VAS (p<.05) and ODI (p<.01) between experimental and control group. At the psychological level, there were significant differences in somatization (p<0.01) and depression scales (p<.01), but not in anxiety. Conclusion: As a result of this study, the degree of pain was decreased, the level of back pain dysfunction was improved, and the somatization scale and depression scale were decreased by gradual muscle relaxation therapy.
Purpose: This study aimed to examine the effect of auricular acupressure therapy on reducing the ocular symptoms and signs for dry eye syndrome. Methods: The participants who were aged ≥ 40 years old and met the inclusion criteria of the ocular surface disease index score ≥ 13 and a tear film break-up time ≤ 10 seconds were enrolled into the two groups: experimental group (n=29) and control group (n=27). Experimental group received auricular acupressure therapy for 8 weeks. Seed stickers were applied to the eye, liver and tubercle point of each ear once a week. Data were collected at pre and 4 and 8 weeks after the treatment and analysed the efficacy of intervention by repeated measures ANOVA. Results: There were significant differences in the ocular surface disease index, standard patient evaluation of eye dryness and a tear film break-up time in both eyes at 8 weeks after the treatment between the two groups. Conclusion: The findings indicate that the auricular acupressure therapy may be helpful for relieving symptoms of dry eye as a nursing intervention. In addition, it could also be utilized as a self-care practice using proper education and training.

The purpose of this study was to determine whether the biomechanical variables of the walking patterns of the obese children compared with those of normal children would revealing significant differences. Normal(N=25) and obese(N=19) subjects were screened based on a health record which was examined to eliminate any subjects who had any pathological condition related to their gait. Data for a minimum of 5 repeated walking trials were collected using a stop watch and a tape measure. Basic kinematic analyses yielded data based on the following variables : stride length divided by leg length, and cadence divided by leg length. This measurement data was classified by the Obesity Index calculated from by height, weight data. Results showed no significant difference among normal, obese and subjects(p>.05). Difficulties in formulating the experimental condition and poor equipment quality are thought to be reason for the inconclusive results. Future studies might include medical complications such as tibia vara, genu valgum, other diseases caused by obesity.

The effects of a directionally emitting and reflecting dielectric surface on the wall heat flux and medium temperature distribution are studied. The system is an infinite square duct enclosing an absorbing and emitting medium. The emissivity and reflectivity of opaque and gray wall vary with direction. Combined effect of conductive and radiative heat transfer is analyzed using finite difference and the direct discrete-ordinates method. The parameters under study are conduction to radiation parameter, optical depth, refractive index ratio. The results with directional and diffuse properties deviate each other when the conduction to radiation parameter is less than around 0.01. The wall heat flux differs fur optical thickness less than around 0.1. However, the medium temperature profiles differ for optical thickness greater than around 1. Deviations from diffuse property calculations are larger for hot wall with directional property than cold wall with directional property. As n increases from 1.5, the trend changes are observed fur refractive index ratio about n=6.10

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate effects of Horse riding simulator exercise on pain, dysfunction and dynamic balance in adults with nonspecific chronic low back pain. METHODS: In this study, total 19 college students usually complain of low back pain who were randomly divided into the horse riding simulator exercise group (n=10), lumbar strengthening exercise group (n=9) were recruited. Each group carried out for 30 minutes exercise three times a week for 4 weeks. Horse riding simulator exercise group carried out 15 minutes horse riding simulator exercise and 15 minutes lumbar strengthening exercise. Lumbar strengthening exercise group carried out 30 minutes lumbar strengthening exercise. Visual analogue scale (VAS) were measured for evaluation back pain. Korean oswestry disability index (KODI) were measured for dysfunction. Limits of stability (LOS) were measured for dynamic balance. RESULTS: VAS, KODI, LOS results showed a significant change within both horse riding simulator exercise group, lumbar strengthening exercise group. CONCLUSION: Present study suggested that the horse riding simulator exercise can improve back pain, dysfunction, dynamic balance. Horse riding simulator exercise provides more convenience, interest and motivation than conversional therapy and it could be a possible approach to adults with nonspecific chronic low back pain.
The relationship of gonad weight and liver weight with body weight of six fish species viz; Catla catla, Labeo rohita, Cirrhina mrigala, Hypophthlamichthys molitrix, Ctenopharyngodon idella and Cyprinus carpio under the influence of artificial feed, broiler manure, buffalo manure, N:P:K (25:25:0) and a control pond were examined after a rearing period of one year. The positive relationship between gonad weight and body weight was significant which showed the dependence of gonadal development on body weight in all the six fish species. The currelation coefficients were higher in female fishes. However, the major carps had a much smaller proportional gonadal weight as compared with Chinese carps and a common carp due to their faster growth rate. The overall comparison of six fish species under different experimental treatments revealed that highest liver weight was observed for C. idella closely followed by C. carpio. The maximum correlation value was observed with H. molitrix under the broiler manure. The maximum Gonadosomatic Index (GSI) remained as 32.63 for C. carpio followed by C. idella. The maximum value for Hepatosomatic Index (HSI). remained 1.99 for C. idella followed by C. mrigala.

Background: The purpose of this study was to compared of scapular position between operation side and non-operation side to the rotator cuff surgery. Methods: This study was carried out with a total 34 patients: male (n=14), female (n=20). Shoulder range of motion (ROM), the quadruple visual analogue scale (QVAS), the shoulder pain and disability index (SPADI), and the scapular index (SI) were used to assess shoulder posture and function. SI was the resting position of the scapular was determined by measuring the distance from the mid-point of the sternal notch (SN) to the medial aspect of the coracoid process (CP) and the horizontal distance from the posterolateral angle of the acromion (PLA) to the thoracic spine (TS) with a soft tape measure. The SI was calculated using the equation: [(SN to CP/PLA to TS) ${\times}$ 100]. Results: There were no significant difference in ROM, QVAS to rotator repair patients according to SI (p>.05). There were significant differences in SI between the operation side and the non-operation side (p<.01). Conclusions: Scapular position was operation side more internal rotation, protraction, abduction than non-operation side. Therefore, health professionals managing for rotator cuff tear repair patients should consider scapular position.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare a control group and an experimental group, consisting of arthroscopic shoulder surgery patients who had received acute rehabilitation treatment and who were to perform scapular stabilization exercise. Methods: Sixteen subjects were studied. The control group, n=8, received instruction for basic physical therapy intervention. An experimental group, n=8, received instruction for doing scapular stabilization exercise (protraction, retraction, elevation, depression) 10 times, 6 times per week. To evaluate the effects of exercise, subjects were evaluated using a joint position sense of shoulder (JPS), disability of the arm, shoulder index (DASH), shoulder pain and disability index (SPADI). Results: Participants showed after the intervention, both groups saw their JPS errors at $30^{\circ}$, $60^{\circ}$, and $90^{\circ}$ significantly decrease relative to before the intervention (p<0.05). Both groups saw their JPS rates at $90^{\circ}$ significantly decrease (p<0.05), with no significant changes in JPS at $30^{\circ}$ and $60^{\circ}$ (p>0.05). SPADI and DASH significantly decrease after the intervention (p<0.05), with no significant decreases before the intervention (p>0.05). The change rates of SPADI and DASH significantly reduced (p<0.05). Conclusion: Low-intensity scapular stabilization exercise is considered effective as a clinical treatment for arthroscopic shoulder surgery patients who receive acute rehabilitation treatment.
