This paper presents the implementation of two-arm modulation (TAM) technique for the independent control of a two-induction motor drive fed by a five-leg inverter (FLI). A carrier-based space vector pulse width modulation technique for TAM is proposed to generate switching signals for FLI. Two independent three-phase space vector modulators are utilized to control two motors. The motor drive system applies two separate indirect field-oriented control methods. The stationary voltage outputs from the vector control are synthesized in the three-phase space vector modulator to generate switching signals for FLI. The performance of the independent control of the motors and the voltage utilization factor are likewise analyzed. Simulation and experimental results verify the effectiveness of the proposed method for the independent control of the two-motor drive system. The proposed technique is successfully validated by dSPACE DS1103 experimental work.

The sound /w/ has been traditionally regarded as an independent segment in Korean regardless of the phonological contexts in which it occurs. There have been, however, some questions regarding whether it is an independent phoneme in /CwV/ context (cf. Kang 2006). The present pilot study examined how Korean /w/ is realized in $/S^*wV/$ context by performing some perception tests. Our assumption was that if Korean /w/ is a part of the preceding complex consonant like $/C^w/$, it should be more or less uniformly articulated and perceived as such. If /w/ is an independent segment, it will be realized with speaker variability. Experiments I and II examined the identification rates as "labialized" of the spliced original stimuli of $/S^*-V/$ and $/S^{w*}-^wV/$, and the cross-spliced stimuli $/S^{w*}-V/$ and $/S^*-^wV/$. The results showed that round qualities of /w/ are perceived at significantly different temporal point with speaker and context variability. We therefore conclude that /w/ in $/S^*wV/$ context is an independent segment, not a part of the preceding segment. Full-scale examination of the production test in the future should be performed to verify the conclusion we suggested in this paper.

The existence of the Ras-independent signal transduction pathway of insulin leading to DNA synthesis was investigated in Rat-1 fibroblasts overexpressing human insulin receptor (HIRc-B) using the single-cell microinjection technique. Microinjection of a dominant-negative mutant $Ras^{N17}$ protein into quiescent HIRc-B cells inhibited the DNA synthesis stimulated by insulin. Microinjection of oncogenic H-$Ras^{V12}$ protein ($H-Ras^{V12}$) (0.1 mg/ml) induced DNA synthesis by 35%, whereas that of control-injected IgG was induced by 20%. When the marginal amount of oncogenic H-$Ras^{V12}$ protein was coinjected with a dominant-negative mutant of the H-Ras protein ($Ras^{N17}$), DNA synthesis was 35% and 74% in the absence and presence of insulin, respectively. This full recovery of DNA synthesis by insulin suggests the existence of the Ras-independent pathway. The same recovery was observed in the cells coinjected with either H-$Ras^{V12}$ plus H-$Ras^{N17}$ plus SH2 domain of the p85 subunit of PI3-kinase ($p85^{SH2-N}$) or H-$Ras^{V12}$ plus H-$Ras^{N17}$ plus interfering anti-Shc antibody. When co-injected with a dominant-negative H-$Ras^{N17}$, the DNA synthesis induced by the Ras-independent pathway was blocked. These results indicate that the Ras-independent pathway of insulin leading to DNA synthesis exists, bypassing the p85 of PI3-kinase and Shc protein, and requires Rac1 protein.

The EEG is a time series of electrical potentials representing the sum of a very large number of neuronal dendrite potentials in the brain. The collective dynamic behavior of neural mass of different brain structures can be assessed from EEG with depth electrodes measurements at regular time intervals. In recent years, the theory of nonlinear dynamics has developed methods for quantitative analysis of brain function. In this paper, we considered it is reasonable or not for ICA apply to EEG analysis. Then we applied ICA to EEG for big toe movement and separated the independent components for 15 samples. The strength of each independent component can be represented on the topological map. We represented ICA can be applied for time and spatial analysis of EEG.

With improvements in science and technology, independent game which through individuals or small groups development mode has become one of new art creation. In these constantly emerging works, there are contents include trend of modernism thought. In this article, independent game < The Binding of Isaac > is used as an example, by analyzing that game's script, art style and animation sequence, and comparing with westward modernism literature, modernism art and modernism movie's characteristics and manifestation, we try to find how modernism thought influences the independent game design, and conclude modernism game's characteristics. Through those deep influences, we prove that the progress of productivity can also stimulate mass culture to develop in a certain extent.

During the last 25 years, independent TV production programing quota policy has been actively evaluated in various aspects except in the field of production personnel. This study focuses on production personnel who has been neglected among the debate of independent TV production programing policy. Especially, this study tries to explore the effect that the policy has brought to production personnel's motivation. After in-depth interviews with 4 professionals and 6 media major senior college students, this study finds that both broadcasting and independent company professionals evaluated the policy performance in negative way. They insist the policy constricts their motivation for production. College students agreed they become unwilling to entering the production filed. The policy should be reconsidered and turn to positive incentives and rewards to motivate production personnel.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify the needs of independent dental hygiene practices in the Korean public dental hygienists. Methods: This research was a cross-sectional survey study. 159 Korean public dental hygienists were selected by simple random sampling on March 10, 2017. 133 public dental hygienists were participated, after excluding 26 hygienists who showed insufficient responses. The respondents were asked to select one of the following options to reflect their needs: direct supervision, indirect supervision, and independent dental hygiene practice. Results: The results showed that the public dental hygienists wanted both public oral health practices (62.5%) and assistance in preventive dental treatments (63.4%) to be performed independently. Conclusions: The public dental hygienists were required to independently perform oral health education and fluoride mouth rinsing projects. Dental hygienists should improve their capability of independently practicing dental hygiene first, and then indicators. It should be established and measured to evaluate their competency in this respect. Legal protection should be considered for independent dental hygiene practices.

1) Purpose: The goal of this study is to examine the association between independent external financial audits and uncompensated care. Not-for-profit hospitals are required to provide uncompensated care in return for tax exemption. These tax exemption benefits are applied to all activities that contribute to the enhancement of uncompensated care. However, some researchers argue not-for-profit hospitals do not provide uncompensated care as expected by their tax exemption. Thus, this paper examines whether independent external financial audits can help the not-for-profit hospitals to function as designed and ultimately for meeting the objectives of the not-for-profit organization, which are the clearest examples of charitable activities performed by not-for-profit hospitals. 2) Methodology: Panel data analysis was utilized with fixed effect using California hospital financial data from 2002 to 2011. 3) Findings: We found that hospitals receiving independent external financial audits provide more uncompensated care than their counterparts which do not receive audits. 4) Practical Implications: Not-for-profit hospitals provide uncompensated care to people in welfare blind spots. Therefore, they fulfill what governments cannot afford, and play a social role as a ʻnonprofitʼ organization with independent external financial audits.

Multi-axle driving vehicles that are used in special environments require high driving performance, steering performance, and stability. Among these vehicles, 6WS/6WD vehicles with middle wheels have structural safety by distributing the load and reducing the pitch angle during rapid acceleration and braking. 6WS/6WD vehicles are favored for military use in off road operations because of their high maneuverability and mobility on extreme terrains and obstacles. 6WD vehicles that using in-wheel motor can generate the independent wheel torque without other mechanical parts. Conventional vehicles, however, cannot generate an opposite driving force at each side wheel. Using an independent steering and driving system, six-wheel vehicles can show better performance than conventional vehicles. Using of independent steering and driving system, the 6 wheel vehicle can improve a performance better than conventional vehicle. This vehicle enhances the maneuverability under low speed and the stability at high speed. This paper describes an independent 6WS/6WD vehicle, consists of three parts; Vehicle Model, Control Algorithm for 6WS/6WD and Simulation. First, vehicle model is application of TruckSim software for 6WS and 6WD. Second, control algorithm describes the optimum tire force distribution method in view of energy saving. Last is simulation and verification.

This paper proposes a coordinated control for an independent multi-phase transverse flux linear synchronous motor (IM-TFLSM) based on magnetic levitation. The stator structures of the IM-TFLSM are composed of a two set, which has independent three-phase windings and a double-sided air-gap as opposed to the conventional Y-connected three-phase linear motors. A suitable control algorithm is necessary to operate the applied linear machine. This study proposes a coordinated control algorithm for adjusting the mover air-gap and thrust force of the IM-TFLSM in order to maintain air-gap and phase shifted current control of the independent 3-phase modules. In addition, the principle of operation and its special structures are described in detail and the validity and effectiveness of the control algorithm is verified through multiple experimental results.
