  • The purpose of this paper is to estimate the economic value of Multi-functionality Roles including landscape and so on, which the stone fences in Jejudo possess, using Dichotomous Choice Contingent Valuation Method(DC-CVM). The stone wall is life cultural heritance of Cheju islanders. It has functions like Development of Favorable Landscapes, Maintenance of Cultural Heritage, and Recreation/Relaxation. Expectation from Cheju visitors shows that the existence and inheritance value of the stone wall is higher then we expected. According to the research that we had done from the people that had agreed to contribute the stone wall, the result was that the public commercial value of Cheju tradition stone will increase every yew(2006: 367 billion won, 2011: 437.1 billion won). Therefore, preserving the stone wall that has Multi-functional Roles and values can lead to huge economic value in the future. But farmhouses in the stone wall conservation area are being supported 6 million won every year. This is only 10% of the income that farmhouse ems per year. Thus, stone wall preservation policy and plan that can raise green-tour commercial value of Cheju Island of long-term inside measurement will have to be propelled continuously.

  • Recent social aspects such as change in population structure, preference to eco-friendly lifestyle, potential for high-tech agriculture are increasing the public attention to returning to farming and rural areas. Especially, retired people who have a longer life expectancy than in the past seek to find a beginning of their later years in farming and rural life. This phenomenon is expected to form new value on rural areas and create new culture for the aged. In order to suggest a futuristic residential development plan for the retiree, this thesis first analyzes 'MARPA(Maison d'Accueil Rurale pour Personnes Ag$\acute{e}$es)' through reference research, site visit and interview with professionals and based on this suggest solutions applicable to Korean conditions. This thesis concludes that residential development plan apt to local characteristics, marketing strategies and administrative system through network and specialized maintenance system are required. In addition, it is contended that interaction and cooperation with local community, various support on creating regional income and residential development plan being in harmony with existing community are needed.

  • Conventional treatment techniques cannot meet the stringent modern water quality regulations emanating from the need to provide high quality drinking water. Therefore, a number of studies have suggested low pressure membrane filtration as a worthwhile alternative. However, a major constraint to the extensive use of this technology in low and middle income countries is the high operating and maintenance costs caused by the inherent predisposition to membrane fouling. Notwithstanding, pretreatment of feed water using techniques such as coagulation, adsorption, oxidation and bio-filtration is believed to control fouling. In this review paper, the existing scientific knowledge on membrane fouling and pretreatment techniques for controlling fouling in low pressure membranes is analyzed with the aim of providing new and valuable insights into such techniques, as well as unveiling crucial issues noteworthy for further studies. Among the techniques reviewed, coagulation was observed to be the most cost-effective and will remain the most dominant in the coming years. Although oxidants and magnetic ion exchange resins can also control fouling, the propensity of oxidants to form health treating precursors and the high economic implications of magnetic ion exchange resins will hinder their adoption in developing countries.

  • The household behavior of food, clothing, and shelter in Seoul area was analyzed to determine characteristics of consumer behavior in the industrial society. Questionaires were administered to 1095 housewives to find out the degrees and types of household labor substituted by the commodities and their buying behavior. Attitudes and values concerning clothing and housing were also measured. The results of the study indicated that the degree of labor substitution by commodities in clothing related area were high, while traditional food items were relatively low. Household labors related to clothing and housing maintenance also showed increased tendency to be substituted by the commercial services. The age and educational level of housewife, and household income were found to be the influencing factors to accelerated labor substitution, which is expected to increase as the industrialization progresses. Buying behavior varied in store selection and information sources according to commodities. Marketer dominated information sources according to commodities. Marketer dominated information sources were used for foods and clothing commodities, while interpersonal information sources were used for services. Shortened clothing life cycles, and rental housing were also found indicating consumer's change in housing concept from possession to use. Suggestion were made to consumers, industries, and government based on the results from the study.

  • The purpose of this study is to predict the roles of public social workers and clarify their job. There were a few studies concerning them, and they suggested that it was needed to reform the delivery system or to supplement personnel. But they were almost normative. This study, based on the literature, analyzed public social workers' daily works to suggest their desirable roles. Generally the job of public social workers consists of two functions. One is income maintenance function, the other is social services function concerned with economically disadvantaged. The result showed that these functions were meshed up to now. Especially, It also showed that although they performed mostly eligibility work related public assistance and general practices, they wanted to perform professional practices. Took into account their working conditions, it seemed to be desirable to clarify their job. Thus, several suggestions based on these results are as follows: First, while eligibility functions are the central aspects of the public social worker's roles, it is needed for them to provide selected access services. Second, if they wanted to perform social services, it would be needed to restrict their roles for case manager and broker.

  • A marine ranching project in Tongyoung was established in 1998, lasting 9 years to 2006. Project activities included the deployment of artificial reefs, the release of young fishes like jacopever and rockfish, and input/output control for specific marine ranching areas in Tongyoung. This report focuses on the economic feasibility of the project in hindsight. Analysis concentrates on three aspects; (a) direct economic benefits, such as increasing effects of fisheries income and savings in harvesting costs, (b) indirect benefits, including increasing effects of recreational fishing and saving R&D costs, and (c) costs, including releasing and purchasing costs of artificial reef and juvenile fish, R&D costs, maintenance costs and harvesting costs. Results show that NPV=4.7 billion won, IRR=8.55% and B/C ratio=1.286 under Scenario 1, which considers the saving effects of R&D costs, and NPV=0.9 billion won, IRR=6.03% and B/C ratio=1.11 under Scenario 2, which does not consider the saving effects of R&D costs, based on 5.5% of the social rate of discount. According to sensitivity analysis, the economic feasibility is very sensitive to the recapture rate.

  • This study aims to identify limitations and pending problems after reviewing the overall policies and status of rural Newtown projects, and to seek solutions to its problems. This study targeted the villages of 5 districts, which were developed as rural new-towns after 2009 and included the basic status and progress of the pilot districts. This study conducted a literature review to examine the basic status and progress of the pilot districts, and based on this, analyzed the demand prediction, site selection, project implementation, and housing and amenity facilities of the pilot districts. The study methods included literature reviews, on-site surveys, interviews with village representatives, and consultations with experts. According to the analysis results, a low occupancy rate of the Newtown project districts is because the prediction of occupancy demand was incorrectly completed before implementing the projects. Also, the eligibility for occupancy, such as age restriction and mandatory farming was too strict. Other problems included an absence of income generation support policies for rural returnees, a housing supply policy in disregard of agricultural characteristics, and a lack of understanding of maintenance of communal space, etc.

  • The purpose of this research is to valuate the economic value of the arboretum which will be provided in Multifunctional Administrative City by estimating citizens' willingness to pay with double-bounded dichotomous choice contingent valuation method, and to provide the basic information necessary for designing and managing it for the future by identifying the types of the variables affecting the WTP. It was found that respondent's average WTP for arboretum was \23,508, and when this figures applied to all the Seoul citizens aged between 20 and 59, the economic value of it was \157,000,000,000. The variables affecting the amount of WTP were visit intention, variety seeking tendency, level of income and environmental attitude. However, environmental attitude negatively affected the amount of WTP. Average WTP for the entrance fee was \5,090, and both variety seeking tendency and visit intention were influencing factor affecting the amount of WTP. Respondents were taking charging entrance fee for granted because most of arboretums are commercial. It can be expected that much of maintenance cost will be covered from the entrance fee.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the childcare support demonstration services and direct policy. The participants for the study were three childcare (IDOLBOMI), three parents who were provided with IDOLBOMI, two practitioners, and three professors related to IDOLBOMI. The data was collected by interview and a phone survey and analyzed qualitatively. The results and several suggestions were follows: First, IDOLBOMI loved to take care of children, felt proud of the job, and thought the work was worthy. The result can help future IDOLBOMI when they are recruited and trained; Second, IDOLBOMI wanted income security at least, which means that the basic activity fee for the IDOLBOMI should be compensated by government; Third, most of the parents who experienced the service were generally satisfied with that, but they wanted the quality of nutrition, hygiene and the quality of play to be developed for children. Therefore, the management of the center and maintenance of education are needed constantly for the IDOLBOMI system; Fourth, the parents who needed the service thought the cost of IDOLBOMI was expensive. Expenditure support should be sought for the parents; Finally, the group of professionals had difficulty in securing the quality of childcare support services. For the future, it is necessary to increase the educational budget, manpower resources, and PR budget for IDOLBOMI.
