Digital Barrier-Free and Psychosocial Support for Students with Disabilities in Distance Learning Environments

  • The article clarifies the conditions for information, digital and educational accessibility for higher education seekers with disabilities in terms of distance learning caused by quarantine restrictions. It is established that such conditions are regulated by international and Ukrainian legal documents (The Standard Rules on the Equalization of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities, Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Sustainable Development Goals, Law of Ukraine "On Education", Law of Ukraine "On Higher Education", Strategy for the Development of Higher Education in Ukraine 2021-2031, Development Strategy areas of innovation for the period up to 2030, Development strategy of the sphere of innovation activity for the period up to 2030). As a part of information barrierlessness, Higher Education Institutions (HEI) should provide access to information in various formats and using technologies, in particular Braille script, large-type printing, audio description (audio descriptive commenting), sign language interpretation, subtitling, a format suitable for reading by screen access programs, formats of simple speech, easy-to-read formats, means of alternative communication. The experience of Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University is described. In particular, special attention is paid to the study of sign language: in view of this, the initiative group implemented the project "Learning to hear and overcome social isolation together" with the financial support of the British Council in Ukraine. Within the framework of digital accessibility, the official website of the Faculty of Social and Psychological Education has been adapted for the visually impaired in accordance with WCAG 2.0 World Standards. In 2021, Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University implemented the project "Cultural, Recreational and Tourist Cherkasy Region: Inclusive Social 3D Map" funded by the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation; a site with available content for online travel in the region to provide barrier-free access to the historical and cultural heritage of Cherkasy region was created. Educational accessibility is achieved by increasing the number of people with special educational needs, receiving education in inclusive groups; activities of the Center for Social and Educational Integration and Inclusive Rehabilitation Social Tourism "Bez barieriv" ("Without barriers"); implementation of a research topic for financing the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine: "Social and psychological rehabilitation of children and youth with special educational needs by means of inclusive tourism"; implementation of the project "Social inclusion of distance educational process"; development of information campaigns to popularize the ideas of accessibility, the need for its implementation, ongoing training programs and competitions, etc.

감각통합이론에 근거한 장애와 비장애를 포용하는 놀이터 환경 구성에 관한 연구 (A Study on setting the Environment of Inclusive Playground Including Disabled Children and Children without Disabilities (including at-risk children) based on J. Ayres' Sensory Integration Theory)

  • This study starts at the at-risk children(the students in the margins)' needs for the inclusive education environment who increased lately. It is studied in the limited scope, which is about spacially 'playground' and 'Sensory integrative therapy' in terms of the special education therapy. The 6 environmental setting principles are suggested, which is redefined in terms of suitable for applying to the environment design based on the training way and arbitration principle of J. Ayres' Sensory integrative therapy. And then various environment design methods are drawn from above-mentioned 6 principles, they are categorized in 4 elements for environmental setting - sensory element, behavior element, mental element and design expression element. This trial brings daily practice of therapeutic stimulate to sensory integration dysfunction children, and sensory experiential diversity promoting development to general children. Expecially it has some advantage that at-risk children(the students in the margins) feel a sense of belonging as a member of society.

휠체어 장애아동을 위한 유니버설 패션디자인연구 (A Study on Development of Universal Fashion Design for Handicapped Children)

  • Currently, in Korea, the number of handicapped children receiving inclusive education in general schools is expanding. In the inclusive education field, the most important tasks are personal needs support, such as toilet assistance, meal assitance, and support for wearing and taking off various assistive devices. A significant portion of the support work in the actual education field is related to clothing. Therefore, it is necessary to research and develop universal fashion designs for handicapped children at school where inclusive education is implemented. To achieve this aim, this study analyzed the concepts, principles and, characteristics of universal fashion design through theoretical research and established research principles. In this study, two fact-finding surveys were conducted. Next, a total of 10 universal fashion designs were proposed considering both the preceding survey results and the principles of universal fashion design Among them, the four designs that were considered most suitable were selected for universal fashion design through F.G.I (Focus Group Interview) analysis conducted by experts. The four selected designs were made by referring to the size framework based on the '6th Human Body Size Survey Report of Korea'. The completed experimental clothes were proposed as the final universal fashion design for handicapped children by conducting external evaluation through a virtual clothing system and real clothes.

Spillovers of Education and Job Training in Bringing Sustainable Economic Development in Pakistan: The Role of Research and Development Revisited

  • Current research intended to measure the spillovers of education and on-the-job training to enhance sustainable economic development. Consideration of research and development expenditures for on-the-job training expands the impact of education and, thus, may provide spillovers for Pakistan's economic growth. The primary focus of this research is to look at the combined impact of education and research and development spending as value-added variables for sustainable growth. The econometric study uses data from a variety of sources, including the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the Pakistan Economic Survey, and world development indices. The secondary annual time series data from 1976 to 2019 are analyzed. To adequately estimate the empirical model, ARDL has been used while the presence of the unit root has been tested using the ADF test. The findings show that education, research, and development all contribute to all-inclusive, sustainable economic growth. Labor and capital, among other traditional components, continue to be the backbone of the development process. Still, the spillover effect is much enhanced with the expansion in education and the on-job training in the form of research and development expenditures. Consequently, the introduction of research and development in education will lead to a sustainable and inclusive economy.

포용도시를 위한 사회적·물리적 지표의 구축과 활용방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Establishment and Application Plan of Social and Physical Indicators for the Inclusive City)

  • 최근 국제사회에서는 사회 계층의 위계와 상관없이 모든 사람들이 도시 안에서 평등한 삶을 누릴 수 있도록 하기 위한 정책 및 계획 수립의 중요성을 인식하고 있다. 이에 '포용도시'의 개념을 도입하고 있는데, 포용도시는 도시계획에서 물리적 요소와 사회적 요소들을 총괄적으로 고려하여 접근해야 하는 개념이다. 이에 본 연구는 포용도시 개념을 도시계획적으로 접목시키기 위한 실효성 있는 지표를 구축하고, 구축된 지표를 실제 도시공간에 적용하여 포용성을 증진시킬 수 있는 방안을 모색하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 지표를 도출 후 AHP분석을 시행하여 지표의 우선순위를 도출하고, 이를 바탕으로 도시설계적 요소와의 연계성을 조사 분석하여 향후 포용도시 조성을 위한 효율적이고 실효성 있는 방안을 제언하고자 한다.

장애 영유아 부모의 지역사회자원 활용에 대한 사례연구: 서울 북부를 중심으로 (A Case Study on the Utilization of Community Resources by Parents of Children with Disabilities: Focusing on the Northern Part of Seoul)

  • This study the presents survey results of a families living with children with disabilities in northern Seoul (Nowon-gu and Dobong-gu) that provides various educational services. This study investigates the current usage and needs of community resources for children with disabilities by the families in the inclusive and segregated care as well as education centers to provide information for the effective implementation of the current system. A total of 109 surveys were distributed and 62 (57%) were returned. 44 families in the 14 inclusive care and education centers as well as 18 families in the 2 segregated care and education centers participated in this study. They were asked to report on access to community resources that include compulsory education, family support, medical treatment, counseling services, commuting support, ways to gain necessary information, current use, and further needs for community resources for their children. Research results indicated that families in two different types of child care centers needed differentiated community services. Parents who use a segregated child care center demanded physical accessibility and increased numbers of highly qualified teachers; however, parents who use the inclusive child care center require the unified information system for the community resources. Survey findings are discussed related to differences between the two types of child care centers. Implications for sharing comprehensive information through child care teachers and directors of child care centers and future research are also discussed.

통합 치위생 실습모형 개발 및 적용에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development and Application of Inclusive Dental Hygiene Practice Model)

  • 국민의 구강건강을 효율적으로 관리할 수 있는 치과위생사의 역량강화를 위하여 학습자의 자기주도적 학습을 통한 학습자의 문제 해결력을 향상시키기 위한 목적으로 실시한 본 연구는 2009학년도 2학년 41명을 대상으로 2009년 8월 31일부터 2009년 12월 7일까지 15주 동안 기존 실습 교과목의 문제점을 분석하여 이를 개선하기 위한 통합치위생실습모형을 개발하여 적용시켜 치위생실습을 진행하였고 다음과 같은 결론을 도출하였다. 1. 통합 치위생 실습 모형 적용 전 후를 비교분석한 결과 학습동기, 자기주도적 학습력, 만족 도 전반적인 과정 모두 적용 전보다 적용 후 높은 것으로 조사되었다. 특히 학습동기에서는 학습동기의 관련성, 만족감에서 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났고(p<0.001), 자기주도적 학습력에서는 학습자로서의 자기 확신, 학습에 대한 호기심, 학습에 대한 책임수용에서 유의 한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났으며(p<0.01), 만족감에서는 학습 전보다 학습 후가 만족감이 큰 것으로 나타났다(p<0.001). 2. 학업수준에 따른 학습동기의 변화와 자기주도학습력의 변화, 수업만족도의 변화를 알아본 결 과, 통합치위생실습 모형이 하위집단 학생들을 긍정적으로 변화시키는데 효과적인 것으로 나 타났다. 3. 통합치위생실습을 통해 기존 단편적인 실습 교육에서 벗어나 실제 환자를 대상으로 예방구 강관리를 시행하는 실물 위주의 교육과 실천학습을 통해 학습자는 자신감을 회복을 비롯한 학업성취도를 높이는 등 긍정적 결과를 보였다. 본 연구 결과를 토대로 학습자의 개인구강관리능력 향상을 위한 학습효과 개선을 위해서는 통합 치위생 실습모형을 실기 교과목에만 한정할 것이 아니라 이론 교과에도 적용하여 이론과 실기 교과목이 연계되어 포괄적인 구강관리 능력을 함양시켜야 하고, 국가고시 합격률 결과만을 위해 주입식 교육만을 행할 수밖에 없는 여건만을 고집할 것이 아니라 학습자 참여를 유도할 수 있는 새로운 교수 학습법을 개발하고 적용해야 할 것으로 사료된다.

Rethinking the Innovation Approach in Developing Countries

  • As reflected in the title, the main objective of the paper is to explore an appropriate approach to promote technological innovation for developing countries. Aiming to this goal, the paper studies three main innovation system approaches, whose implantation is being attempted in developing countries: first, national innovation systems (NIS), which was developed in OECD countries; second, the system of innovation for development (SID), which is a concept that tries to adapt NIS to developing countries; and third, inclusive innovation which is a pro-poor innovation system. Based on the strengths and the weaknesses of each concept and their potential adaptation in developing countries, the paper proposes an integrated approach of innovation system for developing countries. Compared to developed countries, the concept of innovation system in developing countries should be more complex because it involves not only the formal sector such as enterprises, universities, research institutes, government, and financial system but it also involves NGOs, informal companies, grassroots inventors, local and indigenous knowledge, etc. The last part of the paper discusses the ideas that innovation stakeholders in developing countries can use to promote their proper innovation system.

고통(suffering)과 영적접근 (Suffering and Spiritual Approach)

  • Although the general concept of suffering care includes palliative care technology for terminally ill person to alleviate his pain, it is much more holistic including emotional, spiritual and other life dimension. This inclusive concept of caring can be possible with the fundamental reflection on the human suffering. Far from the concept of pain understood in the context of materialist medical approach, human suffering has many dimensions including aesthetic, psychological, and religious: its meaning is holistic. With this perspective, the experience of the suffering client must be reconsidered before one starts with an objective side or a subjective side of suffering. Indeed, the actual strategies of suffering care can be different depending on the definition of human suffering accepted by practicians. In this caring perspective, the body, mind and spirit are integrated so the objectivity and subjectivity can merge; the extended awareness with inner resource or energy, and the positive thinking about the God is meaningful especially for dying person, his family members and the caring team. Despite this impending importance of the inclusive understanding of human suffering, the actual nursing practice still does not reflect this growing understanding of human suffering. This approach, which tried to pursuit the more fundamental meaning of human suffering, can contribute to the development of nursing education and practice which pay attention to the more inclusive view of human suffering.

Development a draft of the Inclusive Needs Child (IN-Child) record

  • In Japan, the children with problem behavior have been called the difficult children. However, the definitions of the difficult children in the medical, health, childcare and education are different. As a result, it is difficult to support for the needs of children. In addition, the difficult children have been influenced by the subjectivity of the teachers. IN-Child (Inclusive Needs Child) is defined by the result of this study. IN-Child means "Child in need of inclusive education by a team, including experts. It does not depend on intellectual and developmental delays due to physical, mental, home environment." We developed the IN-Child record that enables the educational diagnosis of IN-Child. IN-Child record was made to organize and analyze of the items by experts including 3 researchers and 2 teachers. As a result, it was classified into two domains of "cause" and "effect". The domain of "cause" is classified by two domains of "physical" and "mental". The domain of effect is classified by two domains of "daily living" and "learning".
