The Study of Corrosion of Heat Exchanger Tube for Absorption Refrigeration Machine (흡수식냉동기용 열교환기 세관의 부식에 관한 연구)

  • This paper was studied on corrosion of heat exchanger tube for absorption refrigeration machine. In the 62 % lithium bromide solution at $60^{\circ}C$, polarization test of Cu, Al-brass, 10 % cupro nickel(90-10 % Cu-Ni) and 30 % cupronickel(70-30 % Cu-Ni) tube was carried out. And polarization behavior, polarization resistance characteristics, open circuit potential, anodic polarization of heat exchanger tube for absorption refrigeration machine were considered. The main results are as following: The open circuit potential of Al-brass tube becomes less noble than that of Cu tube, corrosion current density of that becomes lower than Cu tube. The open circuit potential of cupronickel tube is more noble than that of Cu tube, corrosion current density of that is controlled than Cu tube. The passivation critical current of 30 % Cu-Ni tube is lower than that of 10 % Cu-Ni tube, potential of passive region of that is more wide than 10 % Cu-Ni tube.

Modeling of Pressure Drop for Water Vapor Flow across Tube Banks inside Horizontal Tube Absorber

  • A model for a pressure drop of water vapor flow across tube banks in a horizontal tube absorber of an absorption chiller/heater using LiBr solution as a working fluid has been developed based on a commercial 20RT(70kW) absorption chiller/heater. The numerical results show that the characteristic of the pressure drop in the shell side of the horizontal tube absorber is completely different from that in a conventional shell and tube heat exchanger. Especially, solution film thickness has significant influence on the vapor pressure drop in the horizontal tube absorber. In addition, the effects by the tube diameters, the longitudinal pitch to diameter ratio, and Reynolds number of the vapor flow, on the vapor pressure drop have been studied to evaluate the compactness of tube absorber. It was found that the vapor pressure drop decreases as tube diameter increases, the longitudinal pitch to diameter ratio increases, and Reynolds number of the vapor flow decreases. A comparison of the present study results with well-established experimental and numerical results showed a good overall agreement.

Heat Transfer Performance of Evaporator Used in a Domestic Refrigerator/Freezer Under Frosting Condition (착상을 고려한 가정용 냉동/냉장고 증발기의 열전달 성능)

  • In this study, the air-side heat transfer coefficients of several types of evaporators in the household freezer/refrigerators are investigated. The types considered in this work are: discrete flat plate fin-and-tube type(in-lined tube array), continuous flat plate fin-and-tube type(staggered tube array), and spine fin-and-tube type(in-lined tube array). The heat transfer correlations obtained from this study for each heat exchangers could expect heat transfer coefficients less than $5\%$ of errors. The result indicates that the air-side heat transfer performance of spine fin-and-tube type evaporator shows the highest value under dry conditions, but discrete flat plate fin-and-tube type evaporator shows the highest value among these three evaporators under frosting conditions.

  • The behavior of a new Three-Tube Buckling-Restrained Brace (TTBRB) with circumference pre-stress (${\sigma}_{{\theta},pre}$) in core tube are investigated through a verified finite element model. The TTBRB is composed of one core tube and two restraining tubes. The core tube is in the middle to provide the axial stiffness, to carry the axial load and to dissipate the earthquake energy. The two restraining tubes are at inside and outside of the core tube, respectively, to restrain the global and local buckling of the core tube. Based on the yield criteria of fringe fiber, a design method for restraining tubes is proposed. The applicability of the proposed design equations are verified by TTBRBs with different radius-thickness ratios, with different gap widths between core tube and restraining tubs, and with different levels of ${\sigma}_{{\theta},pre}$. The outer and inner tubes will restrain the deformation of the core tube in radius direction, which causes circumference stress (${\sigma}_{\theta}$) in the core tube. Together with the ${\sigma}_{{\theta},pre}$ in the core tube that is applied through interference fit of the three tubes, the yield strength of the core tube in the axial direction is improved from 160 MPa to 235 MPa. Effects of gap width between the core tube and restraining tubes, and ${\sigma}_{{\theta},pre}$ on hysteretic behavior of TTBRBs are presented. Analysis results showed that the gap width and the ${\sigma}_{{\theta},pre}$ can significantly affect the hysteretic behavior of a TTBRB.

The Effects of Aprotinin Addition and Plastic Tube Usage for Glucagon Test Results (Glucagon 검사시 Aprotinin 첨가와 Plastic tube 사용이 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: There are 3 warnings for Glucagon tests. First, EDTA tubes that already contain Aprotinin must be used for plasma collection. Second, for freezer storage of centrifuged plasma, glass tubes must be used. Last, glass tubes must be used for testing procedure. So we compared the glucagon results of next 3 situation to those of control group. First, We compared to results by tubes without Aprotinin and with aprotinin. Second, we compared to results by tubes(plastic vs glass) for plasma storage. Third, we compared to results by tubes(plastic vs glass) for testing. We tried to evaluate the results of the 3 different condition. Materials and Methods: 40 healthy adults were studied with normal results on the general medical check up and laboratory tests. We compared the results of 3 different condition belows: Blood were collected in EDTA tube containing aprotinin and plasma was stored in the glass tube for 3 days in a freezer and results were obtained by tests in the glass tubes. Results from EDTA plasma without aprotinin, results from platic tubes for freezer stroage, results from plastic tube when testing. Simple linear regression analysis and paired t-test using SPSS were done for statistical analysis. Commercial glucagon kit(RIA-method)which made by Siemens company were used. Results: Correlation coefficient between results of EDTA tubes with Aprotinin vs without Aprotinin was r=0.783 (p=0.064). Result of specimen in plastic tubes stored 3 days in a freezer showed lower value compared to those in glass tube(r=0.979, p=0.005). Also, results of testing in plastic tubes showed lower values than those testing in glass tubes. (r=0.754, p<0.001). Conclusion: It is recommended for glucagon determination to use EDTA tube with Aprotinin which is a inhibitor of protein breakdown enzyme. Results of plastic tube when storage and testing showed lower value than those of glass tubes, so it is recommended to store and test in glass tubes.

Analysis of Popular YouTube Channels Created in South Korea (국내에서 제작된 인기 YouTube 채널 분석)

  • This study analyzes the characteristics of popular channels of YouTube created in South Korea. As the science and technology have developed, the ordinary people come to upload their own videos after filming them. Regarding YouTube, the most popular video provide service in the world, this study researches the traits of popular YouTube channels produced in South Korea. Specifically, top 100 channels of 1) Most Subscribed 2) Most Viewed are researched, then it explores further by classifying them as 1) The number of the most subscribed/the most viewed 2) The number of videos 3) The number of viewed/subscribed 4) Genre 5) Type of creator. Thus, it not only reveals the multi-dimensional aspects of popular YouTube channels in South Korea but also prospects the market of Multi-Channel Network(MCN).

Effect of Thin Wall Tube on Clay Soil Disturbance during Sampling (점성토 시료추출관이 시료교란에 미치는 영향)

  • The total recovery ratio test on undisturbed clay soil sampling in the field and the finite element method analysis on modified static state of penetration process were conducted for the purpose of deciding the most important factor among the shape factors of thin wall tube. The adhesion between tube wall and soil did not decrease although internal clearance ratio of tube increased within the little change of tube area ratio. The most part of disturbance occurred in the tip of sampling tube during the penetration. The longitudinal displacement was larger than the lateral displacement because soil was confined laterally after being entered into tube, and also the longitudinal displacement was larger in the upper part of the sample tube than in the lower part.

A Study on the Performance of a Domestic Small Multi Refrigerator According to a Capillary Tube Change (모세관 변경에 따른 가정용 소형 멀티 냉동시스템의 성능에 관한 연구)

  • This paper is an experimental study on the performance according to a capillary tube diameter and length in a domestic small multi refrigerator[kimchi refrigerator]. Pressure drop in a capillary tube is predicted by theoretical analysis and experimental method as the reduction of capillary tube diameter from 0.74 to 0.6 mm. The differences between experimental results and analytical results are mainly caused by friction factor in a capillary tube. Because there are no adequate equations used to calculate pressure drop of capillary tube diameter under 1.0mm. The empirical equations necessary for interpretation of capillary tube were derived from capillary tube test results data using curve fitting method. This study shows that the optimized designs of system, which is capillary tube length and refrigerant charge amount, are 2000mm, 83g at the capillary tube diameter 0.6mm and 3000mm, 73g at the capillary tube diameter 0.74mm. And capillary design tools and system matching techniques necessary for development of the kimchi refrigerator were also developed through this study.

Estimation of optimal nasotracheal tube depth in adult patients

  • Background: The aim of this study was to estimate the optimal depth of nasotracheal tube placement. Methods: We enrolled 110 patients scheduled to undergo oral and maxillofacial surgery, requiring nasotracheal intubation. After intubation, the depth of tube insertion was measured. The neck circumference and distances from nares to tragus, tragus to angle of the mandible, and angle of the mandible to sternal notch were measured. To estimate optimal tube depth, correlation and regression analyses were performed using clinical and anthropometric parameters. Results: The mean tube depth was $28.9{\pm}1.3cm$ in men (n = 62), and $26.6{\pm}1.5cm$ in women (n = 48). Tube depth significantly correlated with height (r = 0.735, P < 0.001). Distances from nares to tragus, tragus to angle of the mandible, and angle of the mandible to sternal notch correlated with depth of the endotracheal tube (r = 0.363, r = 0.362, and r = 0.546, P < 0.05). The tube depth also correlated with the sum of these distances (r = 0.646, P < 0.001). We devised the following formula for estimating tube depth: $19.856+0.267{\times}sum$ of the three distances ($R^2=0.432$, P < 0.001). Conclusions: The optimal tube depth for nasotracheally intubated adult patients correlated with height and sum of the distances from nares to tragus, tragus to angle of the mandible, and angle of the mandible to sternal notch. The proposed equation would be a useful guide to determine optimal nasotracheal tube placement.

Experimental Study on the Heat Transfer Characteristics of Spiral Fin-Tube Heat Exchangers (나선형 핀튜브 열교환기의 열전달 특성에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • This study experimentally examines the air-side performance of spiral finned tube heat exchangers. The effects of fin spacing, fin height, and tube alignment were investigated. Reduction of fin spacing decreased the Colburn j factor. However, the effect of fin height on the Colburn j factor was negligible. An increase of tube row decreased the Nusselt number for both staggered and in-line tube alignments. However, the decrease of the Nusselt number for the in-line tube alignment was much more significant than that of the staggered tube alignment. The average Nusselt number of the staggered tube alignment was larger than that of the in-line tube alignment by $10\%$ when the Reynolds number ranged from 300 to 1700. An empirical correlation of the Nusselt number was developed by using geometric parameters of heat exchanger and correction factors. The correction factor considered the effects of tube alignment and number of tube rows on the heat transfer. The proposed correlation yielded a mean deviation of $4\%$ from the present data.
