우리나라 유통 업태별 성장 예측 모형 연구 (Forecasting Model of Korean Retail Industry)

  • 현재까지 우리 유통산업(도·소매업) 및 유통업태의 성장 추이나 예측에 대한 연구는 경제모형의 설계에 의한 계량분석 방법이 아닌, 개별 업태별 사업계획으로부터 추정하는 보톱-업(bottom-up) 방식의 자의적인 추정 방법을 이용하여 왔다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 우리 유통산업 및 주요 소매 업태를 업태별 전망 모형을 구축하여 성장 패턴을 추정, 전망하고자 한다. 본 연구는 소매 업태별 성장 추세 분석을 통하여 매우 흥미로운 결과를 발견할 수 있었다. 즉 백화점, 편의점 및 전문점의 성장은 민간 소비 지출과 가장 밀접한 관련을 가지고 있고, 할인점은 소비지출의 증감과 전혀 무관하게 최근 매년 40% 이상 성장하고 있음을 보여주어 현재 우리가 할인점 전성시대에 살고 있음을 실감할 수 있었다. 한편 슈퍼마켓은 IMF이후 소비지출의 성장률에 훨씬 못 미치는 성장을 보이고 있고 이 추세는 계속될 것으로 전망된다. 마지막으로 통계청의 소매 업태 분류상, 기타의 경우, 최근 급부상하고 있는 TV 홈쇼핑 및 온라인 쇼핑몰 등과 함께, 쇠퇴업태인 재래시장을 동시에 포함하고 있어 그 통계의 유용성이나 신뢰성에서 많은 문제를 내포하고 있다. 따라서 이들 소매업태 분류의 개선 및 보완작업이 시급히 요망된다.

  • 다국적 소매기업인 일본의 다이에 슈퍼체인을 대상으로 일본내 점포망의 지역적 전개와 해외사업소의 입지전개와의 관련성을 파악한 결과 다음과 같은 점이 밝혀졌다. 다이에의 일본내 점포망의 입지전개는 기존의 경제권이나 지역적 도시 시스템과 관계없이 확대되어 도시계층에 대응한 점포지 입지전개라고는 말하기 어렵다. 이와 같은 현상은 해외사업소의 입지전개에서도 다소 나타난다. 그리고 해외사업소의 입지는 일본내 점포망의 전국화가 어느 정도 이루어진 후에 전개되었으며, 또 일본내 점포수의 증가율이 낮은 시기에 많이 이루어졌다.

패션 점포의 서비스 품질 차원이 소비자 만족에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Service Quality on Consumer Satisfaction of Fashion Retail Stores)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop service quality dimensions for fashion retail stores and to identify significant service quality dimensions influencing customers satisfaction for each fashion retail store. 687 young adults completed written questionnaires consisting of items related to service quality. For analysis of data, confirmatory factor analysis, one-way ANOVA, scheffe test, and stepwise regression analysis were applied. The results were as follows: 1. The service quality dimensions of fashion retail stores were tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy, fashionability and variety, price, convenience, merchandise quality and credit card usability. Among those 10 main dimensions of service quality were grouped as experience attributes and search attributes. 2. In examination of the highest valuable service quality dimension based on the types of stores, imported fashion stores were evaluated the highest in terms of all factors except price, tangibles and credit card usability. 3. To predict consumer satisfaction, service quality dimensions such as reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy, fashionability/variety, price, convenience, merchandise quality and credit card usability should be considered.

RFID 데이터를 이용한 고객 쇼핑 동선 패턴 분석 (Shoppers' Shopping Path Pattern Analysis using RFID Data)

  • As the retail industry has been challenged by stiff competition, the retailer becomes more interested in better understanding consumers' in-store behavior to gain and sustain competitive advantage. Consumers' shopping paths provide valuable clues to understanding customers' in-store behavior, which has been a long standing research issue in business. This study is to explore the shopping path patterns in a grocery using RFID technology and clustering method. To this end, we designed the RFID systems, affixing active RFID tags to the bottom of grocery carts. The tag emit signal that is received by receptors installed at various location throughout the store. The RFID systems provide the time and location of the cart while consumers shop around the store. The point of sale data are matched with the cart movement records to provide a complete picture of each shopping path. To find the distinctive patterns of consumers' shopping paths, we proposed the distance-index matrix using dijkstra method and normalization method to conduct the clustering in order to handle the problem in measuring the similarity among shopping paths, which is raised by the spatial nature of consumer movement in a grocery. After analyzing the RFID data obtained in one of the groceries in a major Korean retailer, we could successfully identify several distinctive patterns of shopping paths, which prove to provide the valuable implications for store management.

빅데이터를 통한 대형할인매장 촉진활동 전략 분석 : 베이지언 네트워크기법 응용을 중심으로 (Developing an Efficient Promotion Strategy for a Multi-Product Retail Store : A Bayesian Network Application)

  • This paper considers a Bayesian Network analysis for understanding the heterogeneous cross-category effects of different promotion activities and developing an efficient overall promotion strategy for a large retail store. More specifically we differentiate price reduction promotion and floor promotion and study their heterogeneous effect on consumer purchase behavior under a market basket setting. We then utilize Bayesian networks in identifying complex association structure in market basket dataset by analyzing the effects of different promotional activities and also include the effects of time, family income and size. We find from our Bayesian network analysis that the dominant cross-category promotion effect of price promotion is the indirect effect whereas the dominant cross-category promotion effect of floor promotion is the direct effect. Also, among the demographic variables we find that family size of the household is linked with more product categories compared to income and see that there are differences in the extent of the effects by product category. Finally, we also show the existence of products acting as a network hub and how they can be utilized by retailers faced with a limited marketing budget and suggest a more efficient promotion strategy.

주 이용 패션 소매 유통 경로에 따른 남녀 고객들의 의복 지출, 소비자 혁신성 및 구매 시 위험 지각 수준 비교 (Clothing Expense, Consumer Innovativeness and Perceived Risk of Male and Female Customers of Various Fashion Retail Channels)

  • This study investigated consumers' clothing expense, consumer innovativeness and perceived risk to the channel type they frequently purchase fashion products and compared the relationship between the variables. A survey of male and female college students was conducted and 367 responses were analyzed using descriptive statistics, chi-square analysis, two-way ANOVA, factor analysis, reliability analysis, and correlations. Female consumer clothing expenses were high compared to male consumers, and clothing expenses of consumers using department stores and independent banded stores were high compared to those using internet shopping malls. The sub-dimensions of consumer innovativeness were determined as adventure-oriented, unique-oriented, and change-oriented, and female consumers have characteristics more unique-oriented and change-oriented. In the case of female respondents, unique-oriented innovativeness was highest for department store customers, while the male customer of non-branded stores showed the highest unique-oriented innovativeness. Perceived risk indicated the highest score from the customers of internet shopping mall. Department stores were recognized as reliable by female department store customers. Clothing expenses and consumer innovativeness dimensions showed significantly positive correlations; in addition, the relation between clothing expense and perceived risks were significantly negative. Consumer innovativeness and perceived risks have positive relations.

중국 관광객의 지각된 쇼핑 경험 가치가 제품 및 점포 만족도에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Chinese Tourists' Perceived Experiential Value on Product and Store Satisfaction)

  • The influence of tourists on the retail market in Korea continues to grow, and China has become the largest outbound-spending nation in the world. Korea's retail industry must comprehend the sophisticated consumption behavior of Chinese tourists. Hence, we explored how the experiential value of shopping in Korea affected Chinese tourists' satisfaction levels regarding stores and products. Findings from this study suggest entertainment and escapism mediate the effect of experiential value on consumer attitudes toward products and stores. This research was conducted with Chinese female tourists who shopped in Korea during their latest visit to this country. CFA and SEM were implemented using AMOS 20.0. The analysis of survey data produced interesting results. Visual appeal, crowding, and service excellence had positive impacts on entertainment, and they had a positive influence on both store satisfaction and product satisfaction. Regarding escapism, crowding and economic benefits had positive impacts, whereas visual appeal and service excellence had no effects. Results showed that escapism had a negative influence on attitudes toward both products and stores. To be clear, escapism refers to the status of absorption by which consumers are highly occupied with pleasant feelings, therefore, shopping when the motive of escapism is high is likely to be less rational and more impulsive. In this study, the diverse roles of different emotions associated with entertainment and escapism in the context of tourism shopping were identified. The findings provide practical implications for developing retail strategies and highlight the importance of the experiential values of shopping for tourists.

의류점포유통에서 비주얼머천다이징 의식성의 매개적 역할 (The mediating role of visual merchandising consciousness in offline apparel retailing)

  • Retail firms have begun to pursue the marketing strategies, which stimulate consumers' sensibility and lead people to purchase their products. The visible effects of visual merchandising (VM) arouse consumers' interest and play an effective role in having busy people efficiently choose products. Apparel retail stores such as SPA use the offline store to be the experiential environment of their branding. Consumers' sensitivity and response toward various visual merchandising strategies needs to be accessed. The purpose of this study is to identify VM consciousness and VM evaluation attribute factors. Relationship of such variables with other variables were accessed. As consequence variables, product satisfaction and unplanned purchase behavior were included in the study. An empirical survey data was collected from men and women of various ages. Results indicated that VM consciousness and VM evaluation attribute factors were not correlated with consumer demographic variables. VM evaluation attributes were factored into appropriateness, attractiveness and functionality dimensions. Clothing involvement and brand orientation significantly influenced product satisfaction and unplanned purchase. The direct and indirect effect (via VM consciousness) were significant. For unplanned purchase, brand orientation only had indirect effect. The influence of VM evaluation attribute factors were significant. Appropriateness had stronger effect on product satisfaction whereas attractiveness had stronger effect on unplanned behavior. Functionality dimension had only indirect effect on product satisfaction but did not show significant direct and indirect effects on unplanned purchase. This study identified the pivotal role of VM consciousness in various shopping and purchasing circumstances in offline retail store of apparel brands.

The Negative Effect of COVID 19 Pandemic on Sports Leisure Recreation Retailers, and its Solutions

  • Purpose: The sports industry is a major form of leisure and entertainment, but the industry was tremendously affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. This study gives solutions for sports leisure retail stores to the effects of the Covid-19 crisis on consumers' sports products purchasing habits and then gives a logical conclusion regarding the findings of the topic. Research design, data and methodology: Scant research is available to feedback for owners and managers of sports leisure retail stores which elements could be considered to recover their business prior to the pandemic. For achieving this, this study investigated total 284 responses in the retail stores and conducted the ANOVA analysis to compare the level of intensity on the impact Covid 19 pandemic. Results: Our findings suggests that there was a statistically recognizable difference at the significance level of probability between the mean value of the impact index of Covid 19 pandemic and key recovery strategies, indicating the high degree of Covid 19 impact can be reducing by four solutions. Conclusions: Finally, this study concludes the specific entertainment elements that influence the purchasing behavior of consumers will ensure that the Sports industry deals with its internal problems first without necessarily looking at the outside factors such as the pandemic.

  • This thesis is the research for methods to forecast of dynamic changes at retail stores in the ubiquitous era, and, through adopting RFID based technology, to minimize cost of operation of stores and bringing up better customer service. The core methods had been researched and studied are to build future-oriented stores by providing store system with better customer's convenience based on referring to case studies of future-oriented stores and efficient inventory management method enabling more profitable store, and adopting Smart Carts, Smart Shelf and e-POP and environment sensors as a method in order to provide more improved customer service.
