An NLP-based Mixed-method Approach to Explore the Impact of Gratifications and Emotions on the Acceptance of Amazon Go

  • Amazon Go is a cashierless convenience store concept, which is seen as a disruption in the grocery retail segment. Although Amazon Go has the ability to disrupt the retail segment, there are speculations on how Amazon Go will be perceived by users. Existing studies have not utilized user-generated content to understand the factors that affect customer behaviour in case of Amazon Go. Additionally, in case of phygital retail, studies have not attempted at understanding the effect of emotions and gratifications on user behaviour. To address the gap of exploring user perspectives based on their experience, we have examined the impact of gratifications and emotions on the acceptance of phygital retail using user-generated-content. A mixed-method approach has been utilized using only user-generated content. Utilizing topic-modelling based content analysis and emotion analysis on 30 articles related to Amazon Go, we found themes like, convenience, technology, experience, personalization, enjoyment and emotions like, bad, good, annoyance, success. In the empirical analysis, we have utilized 522 reviews about Amazon Go from the cognition and emotion theory stance, and found that hedonic gratifications have a positive impact on challenge emotions. We also found a significant impact of emotions on customer's favourite behaviour.

The Growth Strategy of Retail Companies: Focusing on New Stores Expansion of E-mart

  • Purpose - Retail companies are turning from one type of retailer to multiple business categories through various reasons, such as taking advantage of existed types of retailers' channel distribution, information and know-how, and entering into new types of retailers. However, there is few research conducted about multiple type of retailers. Research design, data, and methodology - In this research, the references, data and new stores on E-mart will be collected. The dissertation, annual report, statistical data, land-book of E-mart will be also collected to confirm whether E-mart has made any acquisition towards another company. Results - There is a tendency to new stores expansion, store enlargement and prolonging the opening preparation of new stores, based on the core of new stores expansion of E-mart as a general supermarket type of retailers. Based on general supermarket type of retailers, E-mart begins to diversify its retail company's type of retailers. Conclusions - As a general supermarket which is the most important type of retailers, E-mart is expanding into SSM type of retailers to seek new power of growth while slowdown growth is shown in general supermarket type of retailers. The expansion into SSM type of retailers would be a wise option as a retail company, E-mart is able to keep growing in the future.

상가권리금의 가치형성요인에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Factors Influencing on Retail-Premium)

  • 본 연구에서는 상가권리금의 가치에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관하여 고찰하고 영향의 정도를 분석하기 위하여 실제 권리금 거래 자료를 바탕으로 연구를 진행하였다. 특히 영업이익이 권리금의 형성과정에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 중심으로 분석을 진행하였다. 위계적 회귀분석결과 상가권리금에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 독립변수는 월영업이익이었으며, 두 번째로 영향이 큰 변수는 월환산임대료로 나타나 권리금의 형성은 영업이익의 크기에 의하여 주로 결정되는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 권리금을 지불하고 점포를 임차하는 경우 매출, 제반 비용 등에 대한 객관적인 추정을 통해서 권리금수준을 파악해야 할 것으로 사료된다. 또한 점포 운영자는 당초 지급한 권리금을 유지하고 상향된 권리금을 수수하기 위해서는 영업이익의 관리가 수반되어야 할 것이다. 법제화 이후 상가권리금 제도의 안정적인 정착을 위해서는 권리금에 대한 인식의 대전환이 필요한 시점이다. 이를 통하여 시장관행상 형성된 권리금과 감정평가를 통해 산정한 권리금과의 괴리를 방지하고 권리금 시장이 객관화, 투명화, 선진화되기를 기대한다.

유통분야 전문용어 사용실태 조사를 통한 용어 표준화 연구 (Study on the Standardization of Korean Distribution Terminology through its Usage Survey)

  • Purpose - This study aims to investigate the current state of distribution terminology usage by retailers and consumers nationwide, and to suggest a practical improvement plan for its standardization. The Korean distribution industry is closely related to consumers' daily lives. However, in reality, there exists a gap among producers, distributors, and consumers in terms of the definition, understanding, and perception of the terminology. Therefore, standardizing this terminology is essential for more smooth communication. This paper suggests the necessity of committing overall research and survey activities to the actual conditions of using Korean distribution terminology by organizations and their respective management situations, and further, the necessity of probing the problem and its measures in line with the objective and mission of the "Fundamental Law of the Korean Language." Research design, data, and methodology - This study's scope is limited to wholesale and retail including some information systems. First, the study covers most written material including lexicons and glossary of distribution terminology, university textbooks and teaching material for national certificate of qualification, and related laws and ordinances. Second, the survey covers retailers' management situations by store format. The retailers used as the sample for the survey include department stores, discount stores, SSM, and convenience stores. Altogether, 20 specialists were interviewed in their respective sectors or retail formats. Finally, the project team surveyed a sample of 1,300 consumers nationwide on 50 distribution terms mainly used by consumers, including those about awareness, understanding, usage, and attitude. Results - In total, 1,249 terms are drawn through literature research including distribution terminology used in the related literature, glossary and lexicons, distribution terminology in textbooks, and legal terminology. A classified table comprises four large categories including general distribution, distribution marketing, distribution information, and merchandise. The results of the three-step research including literature survey, field survey of retailers, and consumer survey were advised to be screened by academia (retail associations, faculty etc.), retailers (major retail management by store format), retail specialists and consultants, consumers, and Korean linguists. In total, 1,300 questionnaires for 50 terms of the distribution terminology closely associated with consumers were distributed to subjects nationwide. Conclusions - The desired and expected results from this study are summarized from three perspectives as follows: First, from retailers' perspective, a new concept, or coinage of new terms of the distribution industry stems from advanced countries such as America and Europe. However, the original meaning and definition are diluted and distorted with changes in the language users' situations and context. This study provides basic guidelines for standardization of distribution terms used among various retail formats in most daily life situations that consumers encounter. Second, from the nation's perspective, this study suggests optimal choices of distribution terminology in the context of laws and ordinances regarding concerned Ministries. Last, from the consumers' perspective, this paper enables consumers to understand and use distribution terms properly in their daily life.

멀티채널 유통브랜드의 샵마스터 역할에 대한 질적 연구 (A Qualitative Study on the Role of Shop Masters in Multi-channel Retail Context)

  • As the paradigm of fashion retail industry moves rapidly to the multi-channel, the role of shop master has changed as well. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine in-depth the changing role of shop masters in multi-channel retail paradigms. In-depth interviews were conducted, and all interviews were recorded with permission. Seven shop masters participated in in-depth interviews. All of them were sales specialists, with more than 10 years working experience, at department stores. Results of this study are as follow: First, the roles of a multi-channel shop master include store management, management of sales associates, customer relationship management, and management in relation to the headquarters and suppliers. Second, the most important competencies of shop masters are to forecast future demand, establish information networks, communicate well with others, and create a work environment resulting in higher productivity.

의류점포 판매원에 대한 고객만족과 충성도 -대구시내 고등학생을 대상으로- (The Customer Satisfaction and loyalty of Salespersons Working at Apparel Store - For the high school students in Daegu area -)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify importance of salesperson's selling behavior's such as orientation and loyalty. A total of 350 questionnaires was distributed to high school students in the city of Daegu area and 306 respondents were used for the statistical analysis. The primary methods of the statistical analysis employed in this thesis to test the hypotheses were factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation, and linear regression. SPSS package program was used to analyze the data. The results are as follows:1. Customers felt dissatisfaction at salesperson's selling-orientation and felt satisfaction at customer-orientation when they buy the clothes. The salesperson's selling behavior was connected with customer's satisfaction directly, and was very important to retail market 2. The customer satisfaction of salesperson shows meaningful relation and has influenced on salesperson loyalty as well as customer satisfaction of store. But the customer satisfaction of salesperson has not influenced on store loyalty. 3. The customer satisfaction of store shows meaningful relation and has influenced on store loyalty, but not on salesperson loyalty. 4. The salesperson loyalty shows meaningful relation with and has influenced on store loyalty. The more salesperson loyalty increases, the more store loyalty increases. Accordingly, it is concluded that the future success of firms and retailers depends on the quality of the relationship between customers and salespersons.

소매점 브랜드 가치 구성요소와 선호도, 만족도, 재구매의도 간의 관계에 관한 연구 (Retail Brand Value Measurements and the Relationship with the Market Performance)

  • 체계적 브랜드 관리는 브랜드 가치의 측정에서 시작된다. 따라서 많은 선행 연구들은 브랜드 가치 측정 방안을 제안하고 있지만, 이들 연구의 대부분은 유형 제품을 측정 대상으로 한 것이다. 또한 대부분의 경우 브랜드 가치 측정이 일회 측정에 끝나거나, 반복 측정의 경우에는 측정 방법의 변화로 비교 가능성이 낮고 지식이 축적되지 않는 한계를 갖고 있다. 따라서.본 연구는 우리나라 소매점의 대표적인 형태라 할 수 있는 할인점과 백화점을 중심으로 이들의 소매점 브랜드 가치 지수의 변화를 2002년에서 2004년에 걸쳐 동태적으로 관찰하였다. 그 결과, 할인점의 경우 조사 대상에 포함된 모든 할인점의 브랜드 가치가 처음 측정 시점인 2002년부터 2004년까지 지속적으로 증진되고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 국내 할인점 브랜드가 1위의 자리를 고수하고 있는 가운데 외자계 업체들의 두드러진 성장 추세도 확인할 수 있었다. 그러나 이와 달리 백화점의 경우 시장 내 확고한 1위 자리를 차지한 소매점 브랜드가 발견되지 않고, 서로 비슷한 역학 관계 속에서 선두 다툼을 하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 2003년을 지나서는 백화점 브랜드 가치의 성장이 전반적으로 둔화 또는 감소되는 현상을 확인할 수 있다. 또한 본 연구는 소매점 브랜드 가치지수의 동태적 측정과 더불어 소매점 브랜드 가치 구성요소와 시장성과간의 관계를 분석하여, 할인점과 백화점 각각에서 시장성과와 유의미한 관계에서 있는 브랜드 가치 구성요소를 규명하였다.

  • 중국의 뷰티 팝업숍 서비스는 이미 전성기발전시기에 들어섰다. 본 연구는 중국 에스티로더 팝업샵을 예를 들어 새 소매모델하에서의 뷰티샵 인터랙티브 마케팅방식에서의 사용자 체험을 기초로 일종의 온라인과 오프라인을 융합하는 시스템 인터랙티브 디자인 과정을 세우고 기업이 마케팅 서비스의 지속가능한 발전을 이루도록 돕는다. 이 목적을 달성하기 위해 본 연구에서는 설문조사와 인터뷰 조사로 사용자 체험의 핵심 요소를 조사하고 고객 여정 지도를 이용해 사용자의 통증점 (접촉점)을 확인하고 새 시스템 흐름의 디자인을 완성한다. 실험검증을 통해 이 과정은 디자이너들에게 새로운 시각을 제공한다. 비교적 높은 시효성과 실용성을 가지고 있고 또한 오프라인 소매와 온라인소매의 협동 최적화와 업그레이드를 촉진하여 기타 기업에 팝업스토어 써비스의 이론지지와 실천적의거를 제공해준다.

The Effects of Service Quality on Long-Term Orientation with Customers in Fashion Retail Stores

  • The purposes of this study were 1) to identify the dimension of perceived service quality of fashion retail stores in the basis of expanded marketing mix, 2) to investigate the effect of each dimension on long-term orientation/customer satisfaction, trust, commitment and WOM/repurchase intention) on perceived service quality. The questionnaires were administered to 333 women shopped in a fashion retail store in Gwang-ju city. Data were analyzed by using exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, Cronbach' ${\alpha}$, and multi-regression analysis. The results were as follows: 1) The dimension of perceived service quality based on expanded marketing mix were classified as follow: product, price, place, promotion, people, physical evidence, process services. Long-term orientation was categorized into four factors: customer satisfaction, trust, commitment, WOM/repurchase intention. 2) For the effect of the perceived service quality by dimension, product, people, physical evidence, process services have significant effect on long-term orientation, while price, place, promotion services have not significant.

소매점 유형별 상품구매행동 차이 및 선택속성의 중요도와 만족도 비교분석: 전통상권 경쟁력 강화를 중심으로 (Difference of Purchasing Behavior by Types of Retail Store and Importance-Performance Analysis Market Selection Attributes: Focused on Improvement of Traditional Market Competitiveness)

  • 본 논문은 소매점 유형별 소비자의 상품선택행동과 선택속성의 중요도와 만족도에 대한 비교 분석을 통해 유형별 특성을 파악하고, 전통시장의 경쟁력 강화방안을 제시하기 위한 목적으로 서울과 수도권 거주자를 대상으로 설문하여 IPA 분석이 수행되었다. 본 연구의 분석결과에 따른 시사점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 전통시장의 경우 상대적으로 이용시간이 긴 반면 사용금액은 크게 작은 것으로 나타났다. 이는 전통시장의 점포구성과 배치가 점포탐색을 어렵게 하는 것으로 품목별 점포의 재구성과 집중화가 필요하다. 둘째, 전통시장과 대형 할인매장, 백화점 모두 중요도에 비하여 만족도가 낮아 전통시장의 활성화를 위해서는 대형 할인매장과 동일 선상에서의 경쟁보다는 취급하지 않는 품목의 구성 또는 전문화를 통하여 고객이 생각하지 못했던 곳에서 만족을 강화하는 것이 중요할 것으로 판단된다. 셋째, 소매점 유형별 선택속성에 대한 IPA 결과 상품품질에 따른 응답자의 기대치가 반영되어 대형할인마트와 백화점은 가격에 대한 신뢰성과 상품 품질우수성이 개선되어야 할 사항으로 제시되었으며, 전통상권은 저렴한 가격과 가격에 대한 신뢰, 상품품질우수성이 강점으로 파악되었으며, 시설적 측면의 항목들은 개선사항으로 나타나 시설현대화 사업의 지속적 지원이 필요한 것으로 나타났다.
