  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to conduct a monitoring study on the learning process of e-learning contents. This study has two research objectives. First, by conducting monitoring research on the learning process, we aim to explore the implications for content development that reflects future student needs. Second, we want to collect empirical basic data on the estimation of appropriate amount of learning. Research design, data, and methodology - This study is a case study of learner's learning process in e-learning. After completion of the study, an in-depth interview was made after conducting a test to measure the total amount of cognitive load and the level of engagement that occurred during the learning process. The tool used to measure cognitive load is NASA-TLX, a subjective cognitive load measurement method. In the monitoring process, we observe external phenomena such as page movement and mouse movement path, and identify cognitive activities such as Think-Aloud technique. Results - In the total of three research subjects, the two courses showed excess learning time compared to the learning time, and one course showed less learning time than the learning time. This gives the following implications for content development. First, it is necessary to consider the importance of selecting the target and contents level according to the level of the subject. Second, it is necessary to design the learner participation activity that meets the learning goal level and to calculate the appropriate time accordingly. Third, it is necessary to design appropriate learning support strategy according to the learning task. This should be considered in designing lessons. Fourth, it is necessary to revitalize contents design centered on learning activities such as simulation. Conclusions - The implications of the examination system are as follows. First, it can be confirmed that there is difficulty in calculating the amount of learning centered on learning time and securing objective objectivity. Second, it can be seen that there are various variables affecting the actual learning time in addition to the content amount. Third, there is a need for reviewing the system of examination of learning amount centered on 'learning time'.

  • Desertification is one of the main global environmental phenomena. It has resulted in deterioration environment and poor economy, and imposed threat to the surviving environment of the overall mankind. Therefore, creating of methods for monitoring and estimate of risk desertification are necessary. Early warning system is one of important ways for monitoring and forecasting of desertification. Remote Sensing and GIS technology are as suitable tools and methods for early warning system. In this aim, we have evaluated of applications of remote sensing and GIS in monitoring and estimating desertification process (case study in Fars Province of Iran). In this research, we have considered erosion and vegetation cover parameters as main factors affecting in desertification process. The result shows that remote sensing and GIS technology could be useful in evaluation of desertification as one method for desertification early warning. Also, Results suggested that erosion and plant cover are affecting in develop the desertification process in study area.

  • Recently, manufacturing work been transformed to small acale production from with various items to act up to user's expectation from mass production with a little items required in the past. The FMS using NC type mother machinaries has been applied actively also in domestic manufacturing line to meet thus tendancy, but there are many machining troubles occured in work process not be settled yet. Nowdays high efficiency has been required no less than high precision in grinding work for the improvement of productivity. In this study, to represent more advanced FMS can be adapted to thus situation In-process type monitoring method using AE and Current sensors is suggested to investigatethe machining condition in grinding process. As results from this experimental study, is is recoqnized well that grinding conditions and dressing point of in time can be estimated effectively using monitoring method suggested. Furthermore, surface shape of grinding wheel on voluntary point of in time can be predicted indirectly through the observation and comparison of AE signal waveform obtained as performance of continuous dressing work.

  • In thls paper, a remote machine monitoring system for a vimal machine is proposed. The monltonng system is one of the core functmns of a vimd machne that provides a modeling and simulation environment for machining processes and management of the machine life cycle. The proposed system contains the modules for investigating tool wear using neural network and web-based real time process monitoring. An example implementation for tool wear and machining status monitoring is illustrated

  • Environmental Impact Assessment(EIA) was first formally established in the Korea in 1981. Subsequently there has been a rapid growth in EIA activity, and over one hundred fifty environmental impact statements are now published in Korea each year. Although EIA now has almost 20 years of history in the Korea, elsewhere the development of roles and practice is more recent. Development is moving apace in many countries, including the Japan and the EU Member States. Such progress has not been without its problems, and a number of the current issues in EIA-scope of the assessment, the relative roles, the quality of assessment and monitoring and auditing after decision, and so on- are highlighted. So the purpose of this article is to reform the EIA roles and process, in extending the scope of activity, and assessing effectiveness. This article suggested improving the effectiveness of project assessment, widening the scope: stretegic environmental assessment, and extending EIA to project design process, environmental monitoring and feedback system.

  • The control chart is widely used tool for monitoring of the process. This paper deals with an interpretation of the process capability index(PCI) and process performance index(PPI) when the control chart is used for monitoring of the process. The main difference between the PCI and PPI is how we did estimate the process deviation. The PCI uses the within process variation and the PPI uses the total process variation, which is conceptually defined as sum of between process variation and within process variation. Easy interpretations of the PCI and PPI for field engineers are described. And some new approaches to interpretation of the process capability and performance index may be useful in early stabilization of new process.

  • This study is a middle report on the development of intelligent spot welding monitoring technology applicable to the production line. An intelligent algorithm has been developed to predict the quality of welding in real time. We examined whether it is effective or not through the In-Line and the Off-Line tests. The purpose of the present study is to provide a reliable solution which can prevent welding defects in production site. In this study, the process variables, which were monitored in the primary circuit of the welding, are used to estimate the weld quality by Hidden Markov Model(HMM). The primary dynamic resistance patterns are recognized and the quality is estimated in probability method during the welding. We expect that the algorithm proposed in the present study is feasible to the applied in the production sites for the purpose of in-process real time quality monitoring of spot welding.

  • With the common objective to improve process productivity and product quality, statistical process control (SPC) and engineering process control (EPC) have been widely used in the discrete-parts industry and the process industry, respectively. The major focus of SPC is on process monitoring, while that of EPC is on process adjustment. The emergence of the hybrid industry necessitates a synergistic combination of the two methods for an effective process control. This paper investigates the existing studies on SPC, EPC, and the integration of the two methods. This paper also presents future research issues in this field.

  • The objective of this study is to introduce the new possibility of sensing technology based on inductive displacement sensors to monitor the status of wheel position in the hot forging process. In order to validate effectiveness of proposed sensing technology, the indirect forging force measurement with displacement sensor was applied into a typical closed hot forging die-set used for the manufacturing of flange bolts. The locations to implement the displacement sensor were selected carefully by simulating forming process and static structural. From the measurement results of the forging force change during one hot forging cycle, it was found that the proposed monitoring system can provide useful information to understand the detailed behaviors of die-set in the closed hot forging process.
