In this paper, a microstrip array antenna capacitively coupled to a microstrip line is studied. The array antenna consists of uniformly spaced rectangular microstrip patches arranged close to a feeding microstrip line on a grounded dielectric substrate. The effects of various parameters, such as strip width and length, distance between adjacent patches, gap between strip patches and microstrip feed line, on the antenna performance were examined. By properly adjusting geometrical parameters, the array suitable for a high gain antenna for use in a frequency band centered at 12.5 GHz was designed.
The intensity of x-ray or gamma-ray is attenuated according to density and thickness of the transmitted medium. In this study, by using this principle, on-line real-time radiometric system was developed using a 128 channels linear array of solid state detectors to measure wall thickness of insulated piping system. This system uses a Ir-192 as a gamma ray source and detector is composed of BGO scintillator and photodiode. Ir-192 gamma ray source and linear detector array mounted on a computer controlled robotic crawler. The Ir-192 gamma ray source is located on one side of the piping components and the detector array on the other side. The individual detectors of the detector array measure the intensity of the gamma rays after passing through the walls and the insulation of the piping component under measurement. The output of the detector array is amplified by amplifier and transmitted to the computer. This system collects and analyses the data from the detector array in real-time. The maximum measurable length of pipe is 120cm/mm. in the case of 1mm scanning interval.

The sound signal radiated from an underwater source is received by the hydrophone of the system, including multi-path time-delay and multi-path signal by sea surface and bottom reflection. The system using a time-delay between received signals for the source localization shows performance degradation due to incoherence by the multi-path propagation environment and the disturbance of a marine environment. Various types of array and signal processing have been used for robust source range and bearing estimation in this environment. In this paper, we use a line array composed of doublet array and an estimated time-delay correction method for robust localization performance in a multi-path propagation environment. Three doublet arrays are located on the same line, and the time-delay between signals received on each doublet array is estimated in a two-step procedure. The estimated time-delay value is obtained by the cross-correlation function and corrected by the interaction formula between the center-frequency of received signal and the geometry of the array with respect to aperture. By this proposed procedure, the range and bearing of source from array were calculated. In order to confirm the validity of the proposed method and array, we simulated localization and estimation using the Monte-Carlo method.

In recent years, researches about hydrophobic and hydrophilic surfaces have been executed however their other effects have not been researched enough. In this paper, the fabrication method of hierarchical structures of micro line array combined with fluorinated wax for anisotropic superomniphobic wettability is presented. We have achieved anisotropic and superomniphobic surface via simple two step methods, which are maskless photolithography and wax deposition. In order to prove how to provide those characteristics, SEM, contact angle measurement tool and X-ray diffraction are used. Fluorinated wax is crystalized self-assembly and it is subordinated on micro line array so that it is able to display anisotropic wettability. Understanding on anisotropic superomniphobic surface and simple fabrication method has been attracted to apply for lots of applications which range from self-cleaning surface, microfluidic chip, to directionally fluid control device, even in oily fluid.
The Line array sonar consisting of several hydrophones increases array gain and improves the performance for detecting the direction of the target compared to single hydrophone. However, line array sonar produces the bearing error that makes it difficult to determine the bearing of incoming source signal due to the relation between bearing angle of target and vertical angle of multipath signals. Vertical angles of multipath are varied with the geometry of receiver and target and various underwater environments, therefore it is necessary to consider the bearing error to estimate accurately the bearing of the target. In this study, acoustic modelling was performed to understand the effect of multipath signals on the target signal. The errors of bearing angle estimated from the bottom bounced signals are calculated with several environment. In addition, the expected bearing line, as a function of source-receiver range, compensated for the bearing error is predicted from the estimated bearing angle.
The threshing action of the head-fed type threshing unit occurs mainly by the impact between threshing tooth and grains. It may be therefore the most fundamental step to calculate the time and order of the occurrance of impact by the tooth for predicting the performance of threshing unit. The threshing teeth arrangement was defined by length and diameter of threshing dram, number of spiral arrays, number of threshing teeth by kind per one spiral array, number of windings of spiral array around the threshing drum, delay angle of impact line. The linear equations for locus of left and right margin of paddy bundle, spiral array, impact line on the development figure of the threshing drum were expressed by fastors of the threshing teeth arrangement. In the computer program, the teeth which inflict impact were searched successively along the impact line. Searching range and impact condition were defined by the relation between four linear equations. If the impacting tooth was found, time and the kind of threshing tooth was derived from the coordinate of the threshing tooth. At this time the unit torque curve was accumulated on the array of computer memory. At last the completed torque curve of threshing drum shaft was described on the computer screen. Remarkably the peack valae and fluctuation of torque curve was decreased by adopting the delay angle of impact line.

In order to improve the radiation characteristics of the microstrip antenna, microstrip array antenna consisting of one center patch fed by a coaxial probe and several patches directly coupled to the E-plane by microstrip line is analyzed. The equivalent circuit of the array antenna is represented by the conventional transmission line and the various parameters, such as the mdicrostrip line length, the patch length and the feed point location are calculated to improve the radiation pattern for 5-patch array antenna which has the equal patch width. The 5-patch array antenna with the radiation pattern which has low sidelobe level and narrow beam width is fabricated and then the measured results are compared with the computed values and the results of the single patch microstrip antenna too.
The frequency characteristics of sound radiated by a line array of bubbles in water was investigated theoretically and experimentally. In the theory we proposed an effective coupled harmonic oscillator model for a line array of bubbles treating the interaction of only adjacent bubbles as the coupling of classical harmonic oscillators. For weak coupling of bubbles that the distance between adjacent bubbles is larger than the diameter of a bubble, the pressented theoretical model shows very good agreement with the experimental results.

Towed array SONAR is deformed because it operates in fluid such as an ocean. It especially undergoes significant change in shape as a towing vessel takes a turn. In this case, beam pattern synthesis of the line array is limited, resulting in degradation in quality such as signal-to-noise ratio. This paper presents a modified two-step least squares algorithm based on the two-step least squares method. The shape of the sea-operated line array formation with the towing vessel changing course(angle) was modeled and the algorithm was subsequently applied. While changing course and location of the main lobe in beam pattern was altered, signal-to-noise ratio of steering beam pattern synthesis was analyzed by algorithm (proposed and others). As a result, the proposed algorithm presented improvement in performance by 2dB compared to other algorithms while forming relatively constant beam pattern.

To visualize sound field or to identify noise sources, we can use many methods such as intensity method, acoustic holographic method, source identification method using line array, etc. Conventionally all these methods are performed with the assumption of stationary condition in space and time. But for moving source, spatial characteristics and frequency components are changing, so we need another processing algorithm. This paper shows some experimental results - sound field by moving noise sources. In the experiment cross type microphone line array is used for sensing pressure and cars and a motorcycle are used as moving sources that are assumed to have constant speed. The processing methods are acoustic holographic method, spherical beamforming and spectrogram.
