Tumor hemodynamics in vascular state is numerically simulated using pressure node solution. The tumor angiogenesis pattern in our previous study is used for the geometry of vessel networks. For tumor angiogenesis, the equation that governed angiogenesis comprises a tumor angiogenesis factor (TAF) conservation equation in time and space, which is solved numerically using the Galerkin finite element method. A stochastic process model is used to simulate vessel formation and vessel. In this study, we use a two-dimensional model with planar vessel structure. Hemodynamics in vessel is assumed as incompressible steady flow with Newtonian fluid properties. In parent vessel, arterial pressure is assigned as a boundary condition whereas a constant terminal pressure is specified in tumor inside. Kirchhoff's law is applied to each pressure node to simulate the pressure distribution in vessel networks. Transient pressure distribution along with angiogenesis pattern is presented to investigate the effect of tumor growth in tumor hemodynamics.
KSTAR in-vessel cryo-pump has been installed in the vacuum vessel top and bottom side with up-down symmetry for the better plasma density control in the D-shape H-mode. The cryogenic helium lines of the in-vessel cryo-pump are located at the vertical positions from the vacuum vessel torus center 2,000 mm. The inductive electrical potential has been optimized to reduce risk of electrical breakdown during plasma disruption. In-vessel cryo-pump consists of three parts of coaxial circular shape components; cryo-panel, thermal shield and particle shield. The cryo-panel is cooled down to below 4.5 K. The cryo-panel and thermal shields were made by Inconel 625 tube for higher mechanical strength. The thermal shields and their cooling tubes were annealed in air environment to improve the thermal radiation emissivity on the surface. Surface of cryo-panel was electro-polished to minimize the thermal radiation heat load. The in-vessel cryo-pump was pre-assembled on a test bed in 180 degree segment base. The leak test was carried out after the thermal shock between room temperature to $LN_2$ one before installing them into vacuum vessel. Two segments were welded together in the vacuum vessel and final leak test was performed after the thermal shock. Commissioning of the in-vessel cryo-pump was carried out using a temporary liquid helium supply system.
We measured the heat load to a reactor vessel with and without the in-vessel debris bed under an IVR-ERVC condition. Mass transfer methodology was adopted based on heat and mass transfer analogy to achieve high Ra'H of order ~1015 with compact test rigs. We postulated the in-vessel debris bed has a flat top and particulate debris was simulated as an identical diameter spheres. We conducted experiments varying the height of the debris bed and the results showed that Nusselt numbers decreased in both uppermost and curved surfaces with the increasing bed height. Once the debris bed is formed, it acts as an obstacle to the natural convective flow, which reduces the buoyancy. The reduction of driving force results in the impaired heat transfer in both upward and downward heat transfers.
Tuna purse seine fishery in the western and central Pacific Ocean (WCPO) has been rapidly developed since early 1980s due to massive investment of major distant water fishing nations, and catch by purse seine fishery operating in the WCPO accounts for nearly half of the world's tuna total catch. As fishing efficiency is reflected by not only improving of individual vessel's capacity but also increasing number of active vessel, it is essential to understand vessel capacity for reliable assessment result on how fishery affects stock status of target species. In this study, fishing efficiency was analyzed by main factors which are representative of vessel capacity using fishing data and vessel information related to Korean tuna purse seine fishery operating in the western and central Pacific Ocean from 1992 to 2014. It showed that fishing efficiency of vessel tends to be higher when having larger vessel tonnage, higher engine power, lower vessel age and larger length of vessel. As for fishing efficiency by set type, CPUE of associated set with floating objects was generally higher than that of free school set, and CPUE of free school set seemed to have a greater effect on engine power and vessel age compared to other factors.
Heat leakage is an important parameter to reflect heat insulated performance of cryogenic vessel. According to the current standard requirements, it needs to measure the daily evaporation rate to indicate heat leakage. The test needs-over 24h after cryogenic vessel in heat equilibrium as standard required, therefore test efficiency is poor and new efficient method is required to cut test time. First of all, the volume of instantaneous evaporated gas and heat leakage are calculated by the current standard corresponding to the maximum allowable daily evaporation rate of cryogenic vessel. Depending on the relationship between real daily evaporation rate and maximum allowable daily evaporation rate of cryogenic vessel, we designed a new test method based on the pressure changes over time in cryogenic vessel to determine whether its heat insulated performance meets requirements or not. Secondly, the heat transfer process was analyzed in measurement of cryogenic vessel, and the heat transfer equations of whole system were established. Finally, the test was completed in four hours; meanwhile the heat leakage and daily evaporation rate of cryogenic vessel are calculated basing on test data.
The purpose of this study is to estimate the resource recovery effect and the economic effect of the fishermen by the fisheries vessel buy-back program. First, this study standardizes the fishing efforts of coastal gill net, coastal trap, and coastal composite fisheries using Gavaris general linear model. Second, the resource evaluation is performed by using vessel buy-back program data, and also the CYP model based on exponential growth function is applied. In order to derive the effect of the vessel buy-back program, the MSY with the vessel buy-back program is compared with the MSY without the vessel buy-back program. Finally, we compare and analyze producer surplus under the equilibrium of the MEY and the OA using bioeconomic model. In conclusion, the vessel buy-back program has shown an increase in resource growth and economic improvement for the remaining fishermen. The result shows that the remaining fishermen are able to obtain an increase in producer surplus of about 53% due to the vessel buy-back program under equilibrium levels of the open access and the maximum economic yield.

As part of an evaluation for an in-vessel severe accident management strategy, a coolant injection into the reactor vessel under depressurization of the reactor coolant system (RCS) has been evaluated in detail using the SCDAP/RELAP5 computer code. A high-pressure sequence of a small break loss of coolant accident (SBLOCA) has been analyzed in the Optimized Power Reactor (OPR) 1000. The SCDAP/RELAP5 results have shown that safety injection timing and capacity with RCS depressurization timing and capacity are very effective on the reactor vessel failure during a severe accident. Only one train operation of the high pressure safety injection (HPSI) for 30,000 seconds with RCS depressurization prevents failure of the reactor vessel. In this case, the operation of only the low pressure safety injection (LPSI) without a HPSI does not prevent failure of the reactor vessel.
In order to establish order in fishing industry by cracking down on illegal fishing vessels effectively, it is an essential requirement to identify marking such as the name of fishing vessel and a port of register more easily. Accordingly, it is quite natural that markings on fishing vessels should be marked clearly in an appropriate size on an appropriate site in order for them to be distinguished on the air such as from planes as well as on the sea. Actually, when examining marks such as the name of a vessel which are operating in the country, marks of most fishing vessels are too small as they cannot be distinguished with the naked eye even very closely. There is no coastal fishing vessel which marks the name of fishing vessel on the upper part in order to distinguish it from planes. Fishing vessel law generally which regulates the basic laws about shipbuilding regulates marks on fishing vessel, and fisheries law only regulates sign boards of fishing vessels. Problems and improvement of the marking system on fishing vessels suggested by this paper are as follows. First, in order to contribute to establish order in fishing industry, it would be desirable to tighten standards in fisheries law besides the fishing vessel law. Second, it is difficult to distinguish marks such as the name of a vessel as relevant laws allow fishers to make such marks too small. It is necessary to set the standard for marks larger than those regulated by the international treaty. Third, the relevant laws do not regulate a letter form of marks. Therefore, it becomes a factor to make small marks hard to be distinguished more. It is necessary to decide a clear letter form. Fourth, there is insufficient detailed international standards about the marking system. It is necessary to regulate a detailed standard.
Main engine failures in ship operations can lead to a major damage in terms of the vessel itself and the financial cost. In this respect, monitoring of a vessel's main engine condition is crucial in ensuring the vessel's performance and reducing the maintenance cost. The collection of a huge amount of vessel operational data in the maritime industry has never been easier with the advent of advanced data collection technologies. Real-time monitoring of the condition of a vessel's main engine has a potential to create significant value in maritime industry. This study presents a case study on the establishment of upper control limit to detect vessel's main engine failures using multivariate control chart. The case study uses sample data of an ocean-going vessel operated by a major marine services company in Korea, collected in the period of 2016.05-2016.07. This study first reviews various main engine-related variables that are considered to affect the condition of the main engine, and then attempts to detect abnormalities and their patterns via multivariate control charts. This study is expected to help to enhance the vessel's availability and provide a basis for a condition-based maintenance that can support proactive management of vessel's main engine in the future.
In this paper the LNG vessel of the Moss type which is capable of lifting 15,261 tons is investigated in the view point of the pressure vessel preliminary design using the finite element method. The Pressure vessel design is based on the equivalent stress levels due to the internal pressure. The finite element model of the spherical pressure vessel is configured using 4 noded quadrilateral shell element. The finite element analysis program NASTRAN and ANSYS 5.5are implemented. The design is compared with the three kinds of the boundary condition : first, where the equator of the pressure vessel is fixed, and where the top and is fixed, and, the bottom end is fixed, respectively. A comparison is presented between the results obtained by the finite element model and by the prototype production model. Additionally just below position(case 1 & case 2) of equator ring was carried out by using ANSYS 5.5. The results show that the vessel design based on the stress is acceptable at the preliminary design.
