  • This paper considers a Bayesian Network analysis for understanding the heterogeneous cross-category effects of different promotion activities and developing an efficient overall promotion strategy for a large retail store. More specifically we differentiate price reduction promotion and floor promotion and study their heterogeneous effect on consumer purchase behavior under a market basket setting. We then utilize Bayesian networks in identifying complex association structure in market basket dataset by analyzing the effects of different promotional activities and also include the effects of time, family income and size. We find from our Bayesian network analysis that the dominant cross-category promotion effect of price promotion is the indirect effect whereas the dominant cross-category promotion effect of floor promotion is the direct effect. Also, among the demographic variables we find that family size of the household is linked with more product categories compared to income and see that there are differences in the extent of the effects by product category. Finally, we also show the existence of products acting as a network hub and how they can be utilized by retailers faced with a limited marketing budget and suggest a more efficient promotion strategy.

The items are convenience location, courteous service, decor/ambience, availability of parking, etc. The data for this research were collected from questionnaires of 132 in Busan. Data were analyzed by frequency and AHP. As the result of this study, 'product' was decided as a most important item in department store, while 'location' was decided as a most important item in specialty store and a clothes store. And 'variety goods' evaluated as that of first priority in the totality evaluation items in department store, but 'convenience location' evaluated as that of first priority in the totality evaluation items specialty store and a clothes store.

Research design, data, and methodology: Data were collected using a 24 - item structured questionnaire into six factors, namely: store atmospheric, merchandise, supplementary service, customer convenience, sales personnel, promotion. Five hundred consumers shopped at the different c - stores were collected for a multidimensional scaling technique that creates a perceptual map illustrating of c - store image. Results: The results point out that consumers' perception of a different c - store is different. The trend of c- stores are focusing on the dimensions of the function aspect. The customers also put their attention on the psychological dimension, which, in this case, is customer convenience with a sharp point. Almost all stores are bad on store atmospheric in customer- based. • The study aims to investigate the role of consumer's social risk perceptions in retailing private label brands. Since private label brands are exclusively available at retail stores, consumers make their purchase decisions regarding them based on the image of that retail outlet. While buying them, risk perceptions are influenced by the retail store's image. The study identifies various retail store dimensions. For this purpose, primary data was collected using a survey questionnaire that was administered to a representative sample of retail store consumers in Riyadh. The data was analyzed and exploratory factor analysis was applied using SPSS 25 version to extract store image dimensions. The results showed six significant dimensions of retail store image namely 'Sales Staff', 'Promotion', 'Store Environment', 'Store Services', 'Product Assortment', and 'Customer Convenience'. Regression Analysis was performed and the effect of these retail store image dimensions was tested on social risk perceptions of consumers. Results indicate that store image dimensions significantly influence consumer's perceived social risk perceptions. However, the relationship is not consistent across all the six identified store image dimensions. The study brings forth several valuable consumer insights and the findings of the study have some very interesting and practical implications for retailers.

  • Various products are displayed and traded in superstores. Therefore, providing the information of these diverse products plays a crucial part in acknowledging their presence. Currently, superstores mostly utilize printed materials to provide product information and promotion of displayed products. A display equipment is utilized for providing product information and promotion of certain high-end and new products. As such, utilizing an expensive display equipment in order to provide product information fragmentarily for 1 product or successively can be referred to as being inefficient. This paper aims at proposing a method that enables the description of product information efficiently by utilizing a display specific for store support in order to overcome the restriction mentioned above. A test was executed in order to verify the potential of the method of providing product information though the proposed display.
