  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the distribution characteristics of the agency-managed shared housings in Seoul and draw the possible implications from it. The needed data for the study was obtained from an on-line shared housing portal service which provides housing information from various shared housing management agencies. By mapping out the locations and other related data into a GIS(Geographic Information System) program, this study shows that shared housings in Seoul can be sorted into four large clusters. Each cluster has a different ratio of housing types and room capacities reflecting each regional circumstance and common causes. Women-only shared housing takes up 79% of the overall shared housing ratio and, while multi-family housing type has the most count, the apartment type has a noticeably high ratio in women-only housing compared to the apartment type ratio among the other gender-specific housings. Given the high crime rate against the single-person household of young adult women, the reason for the popularity of shared-apartment housing among young women can be deduced. However, the potential tenants' practical choices and their concern for safety are not the only causes that drive the current shared housing market. The young adults in their 20's and 30's choose to live in popular places where they can engage social activities. A new tier of shared housing market has also appeared in places where young adults could not have afforded if they lived alone. Choosing where we live is no longer about just meeting the requirements for a house based on what she/he needs but also about satisfying the preferences for a living based on what she/he desires. This paper indicates that although there is an undeniable premise that 'sharing a house' revolves around the realm of housing welfare and is not a typical topic for the upper-income households, the way we live and how we choose our place to live is shifting.

  • The film House of Hummingbird intersects Korean modern history and personal history through the eyes of a teenage girl, and closely explores how patriarchy and Korean capitalism leave traces and internal impressions on the growing up of the female subject. This film is a meaningful text in terms of showing what changes can occur when the subject is transformed from a boy to a girl in the narrative of growth and when a feminist point of view is entered. House of Hummingbird reveals the weakness of the patriarchal symbolic order through the gaze of a teenage girl in the episodic narrative composition, and also discovers the possibility of close relationships and bonds between women in the gaps. In particular, Yeong-ji, the main character girl Eun-hee's Chinese language school lecturer, is a new female character that has never been seen in Korean teenage films. As a result, in House of Hummingbird, we meet a new female subject who negotiates the pain of growth in a 'good enough' condition.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine causality closely about the mediating effect of management entity's self-checking between effects that not only mobilization for regular patrol of the relevant administrative agency, but also checking for Preventive Safety Guidance have on fire correspondence. The results of the analysis are as follows: First, not only mobilization for regular patrol of the relevant administrative agency, but also preventive safety guidance all together have been revealed to have an positive effect on management entity's self-checking. Results of these analysis have been revealed that the more not only the number of mobilization for regular patrol of the relevant administrative agency, but also the numbers of preventive safety guidance and fire fighting safety supervisor's self-checking are many, the more capability of not only management entity, but also fire fighting safety supervisor's self checking heighten. Second, not only mobilization for regular patrol of the relevant administrative agency, but also checking investigation for preventive safety guidance have been revealed to have an positive effect on fire correspondence. Results of these analysis have been revealed that the more not only the number for regular patrol of the relevant administrative agency, but also the number of fire fighting safety supervisor's checking times for preventive safety guidance are many, the more fire correspondence for the apartment house are being fulfilled much better. Finally, it has been found that both mobilization for regular patrol of the relevant administrative agency and management entity's self-checking have an effect on fire correspondence. Therefore, the effect that the relevant administrative agency's mobilization for regular patrols and preventive safety guidance, and management entity's self-checking have on fire correspondence was analyzed into what the relevant administrative agency's mobilization for regular patrols and preventive safety guidance is not only significant to do self-checking of management entity at the first stage, but also the relevant administrative agency's mobilization for regular patrols, and preventive safety guidance, and management entity's self-checking have an mediating effect in the relation between influences that have on fire correspondence.

  • A fire broke out in a working wood-burning stove and destroyed an idyllic house about two years after it was built. This study analyzed data provided through the court by the fire station, police station, fire insurance investigation agency, house construction company, and wood-burning stove maker Based on the fire pattern of low-temperature long-term ignition that remained in the studs, the fire was found to be caused by the conduction of heat in the fire box to the studs of the wall next to the wood-burning stove. A fire simulation showed that the low-temperature long-term ignition of the studs next to the wood-burning stove occurred because a hole was not made for ventilation in the chimney.

  • Houses contain our own characteristics and philosophy. As a Yangban house in the late Joseon Dynasty, the house of Kwon Hee-moon was constructed over 250 years to the present. Therefore, this house can more objectively examine the aesthetic ideals, such as the thoughts and philosophies of the house owners across the generations. The name of Sarang-Chae is Ui-Wang-Seo(嶷汪棲), it shows thoughts and philosophies symbolically. Ui(嶷)·Wang(汪) mean the elements of nature, and Seo(棲) symbolizes living together, It is aesthetics of Nature, aesthetics of Human boundary. Aesthetics of Nature boundary is aesthetics of Ui(嶷)·Wang (汪), so it is clear and fine. Aesthetics of Human boundary is aesthetics of Seo(棲), so it has meditation and purity. As such, the aesthetic ideal of Kwon Hee-moon's house pursues the ideal of life. Through the aesthetic boundary of the house of Kwon Hee-moon, we can understand the aesthetic boundary of Honam Yang-ban House in the Late Chosun Dynasty.

  • Most of the Historic Preservation Areas are very vulnerable to disasters. The aim of this study is to build probability of street blockade for evacuation routes planning from each house to an evacuation place at a large-scale disaster in such a historic preservation area. The study area is Hamanaka Machi Happongi Shuku in Kashima city, Saga Prefecture, which has been designated as a preservation district of traditional buildings. To achieve this aim, we referred to the formula for probability of street blockade for normal city area made by Tokyo Fire Agency. We revised it, considering the width of street under 4 m, structure of houses along the street, and the distance from the house to main street with the width over 4 m. Then, we applied the revised formula to the study area.

  • This paper examines the traditional house building components through Wenzhou Longwan district traditional residential architectural components exhibition. We found that the exhibition of architectural components of residential buildings has its own characteristics, and the collection, cleaning and organization of the components require a lot of manpower and material resources. This exhibition is based on social hotspots, and the exhibition was curated with flexible use of exhibition halls and content arrangement, allowing the audience to enter into "immersive" nostalgic memories through the experience of being present. In the wave of urban construction and development, the preservation of traditional residential buildings and their components is to inherit the local architectural culture and show the local natural and humanistic spirit.

  • Objectives: This study evaluated occupational exposures to noise and heat stress during routine non-outage works in three coal-fired power plants in the Republic of Korea. Methods: The data were collected during the summer of 2020. Full shift noise exposure of 52 workers were measured using noise dosimeters. Heat stress of 16 worksites were measured for 70 minutes using wet-bulb globe temperature monitors. Results: The noise dosimetry results revealed time-weighted averages that ranged from 47.5 to 88.9 dBA. 2 out of 52 noise measurements exceeded 85 dBA. Based on the arithmetic mean, the coal service group showed the highest level at 80.2 dBA by job tasks. Noise exposures exceeding 85 dBA were measured in the coal service and plant operator group. Heat stress index measurements ranged from 20.3℃ to 37.2℃. 1 out of 9 indices measured in coal facilities and 4 out of 7 indices measured in boiler house exceeded 1 hour TWA during moderate work. Heat stress indices measured from boiler houses were significantly higher than those measured from coal equipment. Conclusions: The results show that overexposure to noise and heat stress may be encountered during routine non-outage work activities in coal-fired power plants. Appropriate actions should be taken to reduce future health outcome from occupational exposure to noise and heat stress in the industry.

  • The report presents turbulent Navier Stokes computations on twin engine afterbody model with jet exhaust. The computations are carried out for free-stream Mach number of 0.8 to 1.20 and jet pressure ratio of 3.4 to 7.8. The Spalart-Allmaras turbulence model is used in the computations. Comparison is made with experimental data and Cp distribution around the afterbody is found to agree well with experiments. Flow features of the exhaust jet like under expansion, over expansion, Mach discs, etc are well captured. The effect of nozzle pressure ratio and flight Mach number are studied in detail. These computations serve as validation of the in-house code for twin jet afterbody.
