  • An old building over 30 years old continue to increase. Therefore, there will be more dismantling of old buildings in the future. Safety management of dismantling works is being strengthened. However, no consideration has been given to the effects of dismantling workers and their residents due to environmental hazards arising from the demolition process. Only spray and dust prevention measures are subject to inspection to minimize dust generation considering civil complaints around the site of dismantling work. In this paper, residential buildings, which account for the largest proportion of old buildings, were collected and identify total airborne bacteria and floating fungi among environmental hazards caused by non-structural dismantling work. Measurement results showed that workers during dismantling work are working in places with 4.8 times more total airborne bacteria than indoor air quality maintenance standards. Related research is needed for the health of dismantling workers.

  • The objective of this research is to determine overall heat transfer coefficients (K-value) of exterior wall, floor, and roof of Nakseonjae, a Korean traditional residence via field measurement of transient heat flow and temperature difference across each envelope component. Heat flow sensors and T-type thermocouple were attached on the internal and the external surface of each building component, and real-time measurement data were collected for the three consecutive summer days. The K-values determined in this research showed good agreement with other results from open literature. Peak and annual thermal loads of the traditional residence estimated by a commercial energy simulation program were compared with those for a current apartment house. The traditional house showed lower annual cooling load than that of the current building. It may caused by the fact that the traditional building has less air-tight envelopes and no fenestration passing direct solar radiation into the space.

  • MEP layout and 3D Laser scanning are widely used equipment for displacement measurement in construction site. In this study, MEP layout and 3D Laser scanning were used to measure the lateral displacement of the same structure, and then the advantages and disadvantages of each were compared and analyzed. In general, it has been shown that MEP layout can save a lot of time compared to 3D Laser scanning. And it was found that the lateral displacement measurement results measured at a distance of 15m were similar to each other.

  • When measuring fine dust at a large-scale site such as complex construction, the change in the value of fine dust measurement is large due to the influence of the time, location, wind speed, wind direction, and humidity. This study aims to find out the results of measuring fine dust in an actual construction site and inferring the changes.

  • With the development of technology the Global Positioning System(GPS) measurement method which uses the artificial satellites to locate its position has been adopted in construction projects. Especially in civil engineering projects which have not any base points needed to measure their position they use the GPS measurement method has been put to practical use. But it was still difficult to use that method in building construction sites which require more accurate measurement data than the current GPS measurement method can provide. In this paper we introduce a new GPS measurement method adopted in Burj Dubai project which would be the tallest building in the world after its completion.

  • Rather than using smartphones as seismometers with designated locations and orientations, this study proposes to employ crowds' smartphones in buildings to perform fast safety assessment of buildings. The principal advantage of using crowds' smartphones is the potential to monitor the safety of millions of buildings without hardware costs, installation labor, and long-term maintenance. This study's goal is to measure the maximum interstory drift ratios during earthquake excitation using crowds' smartphones. Beacons inside the building are required to provide the location and relevant building information for the smartphones via Bluetooth. Wi-Fi Direct is employed between nearby smartphones to conduct peer-to-peer time synchronization and exchange the acceleration data measured. An algorithm to align the orientation between nearby smartphones is proposed, and the performance of the orientation alignment, interstory drift measurement, and damage level estimation are studied numerically. Finally, the proposed approach's performance is verified using large-scale shaking table tests of a scaled steel building. The results presented in this study illustrate the potential to use crowds' smartphones with the proposed approach to record building motions during earthquakes and use those data to estimate buildings' safety based on the interstory drift ratios measured.

  • During the construction of the project, all surveying and mapping work is collectively referred to as engineering survey. Therefore, the measurement work contains a wide range of content, in the engineering survey, design and construction management stage are involved. To the actual work, the project measurement runs through the project building in a number of stages, and provide basic services. This paper mainly through the analysis of engineering measurement at all stages of the role played by the measurement work in the project management work to do the following description.

  • Purpose : The Purposes of this study was to develop a learning organization measurement for nurses, and to test the validity and reliability of the measurement. Method : This study was conducted through 3 phases -theoretical framework choice, measurement items selection, and the testing of validity and reliability. In order to test reliability and validity of the measurement, data were collected from the 261 nurses, working in the 1 hospital with more 800 beds. The data obtained were analyzed by SPSS for Window program using percentages, Factor Analysis, Cronbach's alpha coefficients. Result : As a result of the study, 2 scales -Learning Organization Building Scale, and Knowledge Management Process Scale- were developed. Learning Organization Building Scale was consisted of 23 items, 5 factors. 5 factors explained 60.26% of the total variance, and the Cronbach's alpha of this scale was .8807. Knowledge Management Process Scale was consisted of 17 items, 4 factors. 4 factors explained 66.14% of the total variance, and the Cronbach's alpha of this scale was .9147. Conclusion : The Study supports the validity and reliability of the scales. Therefore, these scales can be effectively utilized for many researches about Learning organization of Nurse, and Nursing organization in the Hospital Setting.

  • Elevator noise in apartment houses is one of the factors which prevent the residents from quiet and comfortable life. The elevator noise measurement method [KS F ISO 16032] is introduced from the matching ISO standard, however, it has problems in the application to the actual measurement. To visualize the problems, measurements in an apartment house are conducted, which has been suffering from the elevator noise for a long time. The measurement itself is extremely difficult due to the low sound pressure level of elevator, which is lower than 35 dB (A), and the even higher background noise level. However the vibration levels measured at the same time are relatively less disturbing As a result of vibration measurement, it was found that the vibration is clearly measured on the wall, and presents a high correlation coefficient of over 0.8 with the noise levels measured This shows that the vibration level measured on the elevator walls may be rather reliable numbers than the elevator noise levels in the actual noisy condition of elevator halls and the vicinity.
