A New Similarity Measure Based on Intraclass Statistics for Biometric Systems

  • A biometric system determines the identity of a person by measuring physical features that can distinguish that person from others. Since biometric features have many variations and can be easily corrupted by noises and deformations, it is necessary to apply machine learning techniques to treat the data. When applying the conventional machine learning methods in designing a specific biometric system, however, one first runs into the difficulty of collecting sufficient data for each person to be registered to the system. In addition, there can be an almost infinite number of variations of non-registered data. Therefore, it is difficult to analyze and predict the distributional properties of real data that are essential for the system to deal with in practical applications. These difficulties require a new framework of identification and verification that is appropriate and efficient for the specific situations of biometric systems. As a preliminary solution, this paper proposes a simple but theoretically well-defined method based on a statistical test theory. Our computational experiments on real-world data show that the proposed method has potential for coping with the actual difficulties in biometrics.

Sign Language Image Recognition System Using Artificial Neural Network

  • Hearing impaired people are living in a voice culture area, but due to the difficulty of communicating with normal people using sign language, many people experience discomfort in daily life and social life and various disadvantages unlike their desires. Therefore, in this paper, we study a sign language translation system for communication between a normal person and a hearing impaired person using sign language and implement a prototype system for this. Previous studies on sign language translation systems for communication between normal people and hearing impaired people using sign language are classified into two types using video image system and shape input device. However, existing sign language translation systems have some problems that they do not recognize various sign language expressions of sign language users and require special devices. In this paper, we use machine learning method of artificial neural network to recognize various sign language expressions of sign language users. By using generalized smart phone and various video equipment for sign language image recognition, we intend to improve the usability of sign language translation system.

  • 본 논문에서는 비전 기술과 딥러닝 기반의 얼굴인식을 통해 실종자를 식별하는 방법을 제안하였다. 모바일 디바이스에서 전송된 원본 이미지에 대해 얼굴인식에 적합하도록 이미지를 전처리한 후, 얼굴인식의 정확도 향상을 위한 이미지 데이터 증식과 CNN 기반 얼굴학습 및 검증을 통해 실종자를 인식하였다. 본 논문의 구현 결과를 이용하여 가상의 실종자 이미지를 식별한 결과, 원본 데이터와 블러 처리한 데이터를 함께 학습한 모델의 성능이 가장 우수하게 나왔다. 또한 사전학습된 가중치를 사용한 학습 모델은 사용하지 않은 모델보다 높은 성능을 보였지만, 편향과 분산이 높게 나오는 한계를 확인할 수 있었다.

A new framework for Person Re-identification: Integrated level feature pattern (ILEP)

  • The system for re-identifying persons is used to find and verify the persons crossing through different spots using various cameras. Much research has been done to re-identify the person by utilising features with deep-learned or hand-crafted information. Deep learning techniques segregate and analyse the features of their layers in various forms, and the output is complex feature vectors. This paper proposes a distinctive framework called Integrated Level Feature Pattern (ILFP) framework, which integrates local and global features. A new deep learning architecture named modified XceptionNet (m-XceptionNet) is also proposed in this work, which extracts the global features effectively with lesser complexity. The proposed framework gives better performance in Rank1 metric for Market1501 (96.15%), CUHK03 (82.29%) and the newly created NEC01 (96.66%) datasets than the existing works. The mean Average Precision (mAP) calculated using the proposed framework gives 92%, 85% and 98%, respectively, for the same datasets.

Developing Sentimental Analysis System Based on Various Optimizer

  • Over the past few decades, natural language processing research has not made much. However, the widespread use of deep learning and neural networks attracted attention for the application of neural networks in natural language processing. Sentiment analysis is one of the challenges of natural language processing. Emotions are things that a person thinks and feels. Therefore, sentiment analysis should be able to analyze the person's attitude, opinions, and inclinations in text or actual text. In the case of emotion analysis, it is a priority to simply classify two emotions: positive and negative. In this paper we propose the deep learning based sentimental analysis system according to various optimizer that is SGD, ADAM and RMSProp. Through experimental result RMSprop optimizer shows the best performance compared to others on IMDB data set. Future work is to find more best hyper parameter for sentimental analysis system.

Formation of a Person's Value Attitude to the Worldview Using Information Technologies

  • The article analyzes the features of the formation of a person's value attitude to the worldview by means of information technologies. The present considers it necessary to form a person's value attitude to the perception of the world by means of information technologies. The explosive development of information and telecommunications technologies has become a determining factor in the development of modern society, which is called the information or Global Information Society. It is not yet fully formed, and we are all participants in the development of the Global Information Society. The article considers the basics of a harmonious worldview of a person, which is the basis for the formation of outlook ideas, views, knowledge, beliefs about the surrounding world, which determine the place and role and motivate actions in relation to the surrounding reality through the prism of value orientations. Worldview is considered as an integrity of relatively stable schemes, behaviors, feelings, thinking, vision of the surrounding world, inherent in an individual child, ethno-cultural and socio-cultural groups. The concept of "worldview" as a component of the multi-level structure of the individual's outlook is defined. The features that characterize a person's perception of the world are revealed. The main educational value of information technologies in the formation of a person's value attitude to the perception of the world is highlighted, which consists in the fact that they allow you to create an immeasurable brighter multi-sensory interactive learning environment with almost unlimited potential opportunities that fall at the disposal of both the teacher and the student. The trend of forming a person's value attitude to the perception of the world is clearly developing in the direction of mixed learning as a process that creates a comfortable information educational environment, communication systems that provide all the necessary educational information. The approach to student development by means of the educational environment and the formation, while in the person of a value attitude to the perception of the world by means of Information Technologies, has many pedagogical advantages, which is considered in the article.

ICT를 활용한 환경교육용 소프트웨어 개발 방안과 사례 (Development of Educational Software using ICT in Environmental Education)

  • The purpose of environmental education is to cultivate democracy citizens suitable for sustainable society. Suitable citizens for sustainable society are fostered person of environmental literacy, environmental sensibility, ecological and synthetic sights of environmental problems, decision making of environmental problems, and environmental responsibility etc. by environmental education. To achieve this purpose of environmental education effectively, it is desirable that produces and utilizes ICT(Information and Communication Technologies) works and methods that can show efficiently special sides(inter-relation, long-term effects etc.) of environmental problems. ICT environmental education materials and methods are raising the interest and participate of teenagers to environmental education because they are accustomed to the Internet in South Korea. Students can easily conversation with the person of similar interests and environment experts through cyber ICT environmental education. The directions of developing ICT teaching materials for environmental education to enforce self-directed learning, cooperation studying etc.

확장된 RNN을 활용한 사람재인식 시스템에 관한 연구 (A Study on Person Re-Identification System using Enhanced RNN)

  • 사람의 빈번한 자세 변화, 그리고 background clutter과 occlusion으로 인해 Person Re-identificatio는 컴퓨터 비전 분야에서 가장 어려운 부분이다. 비겹침 카메라의 이미지는 어떤 사람을 다른 사람과 구별하기 어렵게 한다. 더욱 나은 성능 일치를 달성하기 위해 대부분의 방법은 특징 선택과 거리 메트릭을 개별적으로 사용한다. 그렇게 차별화된 표현과 적절한 거리를 얻을 수 있고, 사람과 중요한 특징의 무시 사이의 유사성을 설명할 수 있다. 이러한 상황은 우리가 이 문제를 다루는 새로운 방법을 고려하도록 한다. 본 논문에서는 Person Re-identification를 위한 3단 계층네트워크를 갖는 향상되고 반복적인 신경 회로망을 제안하였다. 특히 RNN(Revurrent Neural Network) 모델은 반복적인 EM(Expectation Maximum) 알고리즘과 3단 계층 네트워크를 포함하고, 차별적 특징과 지표 거리를 공동으로 학습한다. 반복적인 EM 알고리즘은 RNN 이전에 연속해 있는 CNN(Convoutional Neural Network)의 특징 추출 능력을 충분히 사용할 수 있다. 자율 학습을 통해 EM 프레임 워크는 패치의 레이블을 변경하고 더 큰 데이터 세트를 훈련할 수 있다. 네트워크를 더 잘 훈련시키기 위해 3단 계층 네트워크를 통해 CNN, RNN 및 풀링 계층이 공동으로 특징 추출을 할 수 있다. 실험 결과에 따르면 비전처리 분야에서 다른 연구자의 접근 방식과 비교할 때 이 방법은 경쟁력 있는 정확도를 얻을 수 있다. 이 방법에 대한 다른 요소의 영향은 향후 연구에서 분석되고 평가될 것이다.

Seamless Mobile Learning: Possibilities and Challenges Arising from the Singapore Experience

  • The purposes of the present study are to describe the design of mobile learning scenarios based on learning sciences theories, and to discuss implications for the future research in this area. To move beyond mere speculations about the abundant possibilities of mobile learning and to make real impact in K-12 school settings, it is critical to conduct school-based research grounded on the learning sciences theories. Towards this end, this paper describes school-based mobile learning projects conducted by a research team at the Learning Sciences Lab in Singapore, and then discusses the possibilities and challenges of mobile learning to further inform future research. Specifically, this paper explores the affordances of mobile technology, such as portability, connectivity and context-sensitivity, to design seamless learning scenarios that bridge formal and informal learning experiences. The authors present a framework for re-conceptualizing different types of learning based on physical settings and intentionality, and then describe two seamless learning scenarios, namely 3Rs and Chinatown Trail, which were implemented in one primary school in Singapore. In conclusion, the authors discuss the affordances of seamless mobile learning for enhancing one's lived experiences to build a living ecological relationship between the person and the environment, and how mobile technology can play a critical role for enabling such lived experiences.

사이버 호스피스 전문 간호 교육 과정에서의 학습참여와 운영평가 (Evaluation of Participation & Management on the Cyber Hospice Specialist Program)

  • Purpose: The research purposes analyzed the study participation and lecture evaluation of applicants in the cyber hospice specialist education course to find problems of nurse education application on the web. Method: Study participants were 125 nurses for participation and 68nurses for lecture evaluation. The data was analysed by descriptive statistics. Result: The results obtained from this study were as follows 1) The residence distribution of study participants was spread out across the nation. Equal distribution of education was accomplished without a difference among provinces. 2) The average study duration in the study participation was about one hour and a quarter minutes a week, and number of access to lecture notes was 65.8 times. But in a discussion room and a cooperative room, the system using rate was very low, so we considered the idea to come up with a more effective application way. 3) The participant's lecture evaluation of cyber education were generally satisfied about the quality of lecture, time, contents etc. Conclusion: This study shows the possible implication for nursing fields using a web-based learning program for reeducation in a variety of fields, so nursing cyber application can be considered to come up with this more effective method.
