A Study of the Non-Fourier Heat Conduction Phenomena (비푸리에 열전도 현상에 관한 고찰)

  • Although the law of classical fourier heat conduction predicts the heat conduction phenomena occurred in most engineering fields with a good accuracy, it is also well-known that the conventional fourier law of a heat conduction has an application limit when the heating and cooling are periodic for a short duration or when the heat conduction is analyzed in the extremely low temperature region. This application limit of classical fourier law results from the fact that it assumed the infinite speed of a heat wave. In this study, we investigated the feasibility of whether the molecular dynamics could be used to calculate the speed of a heat wave through a solid. The calculated sound velocity showed a good agrement with the theoretical prediction qualitatively. From the calculated results, we confirmed that the same methodology can be applied the evaluation of the speed of a heat wave.

  • In general, the strength of hull structures can be estimated from stress evaluation considering static and hydro-dynamic load due to sea-wave. However, war ships such as submarine, have frequently experienced the underwater explosion and local structures of ship as well as hull girder can be damaged by the dynamic response excited from underwater non-contact explosion. When explosion happens at underwater, shock wave is radiated In early short time, then gas bubbles are generated, and expansion and contraction are repeated as they float to the surface. The shock wave causes the damage of equipment and its supporting structures, on the other hand, the hull girder strength can be lost by resonance between bubble pulsation and lowest ship natural vibration period. In this paper, the hydro-Impulse force due to bubble was calculated. Based on these results the hull girder strength of submarine was estimated from transient response analysis by using NASTRAN. Also, shock analysis for some equipment supporting structures was carried out by using DDAM. In order to evaluate the strength of these local structures due to shock wave.

  • When electronegative gas SF$_{6}$ is dissolved and charged with insulating oil, the effect caused in the process by electronegative characteristic is studied and also the pressure effect caused by electronegative SF$_{6}$ acting on the liquid-level is examined respectively. When inert gas Ar is used to find a pressure effect acting on the liquid-level, its effect on dielectric strength is considered in the experiment. With three kinds of impulse voltage different in the duration of wave front and wave tail, a brief experiment if carried out ot see the effects on the dielectric breakdown characteristic as the wave is changing; either if I$_{2}$ and SF$_{6}$ are added to the insulating oil, or if the oil pressure is increased by Ar the dielectric strength becomes great and the longer the duration of wave front is, the greater the increase of the breakdown voltage, because I$_{2}$ added by a small quantity brings about some hirderance in the formation of gas phase. Likewise, the greater the changed pressure is, the greater the incerase of the breakdown voltage. When SF$_{6}$ is charged, the electronegative characteristic is prevailing at the time of low balanced pressure, and the pressure effect at the time of high balanced pressure.ressure.

  • To analyze dynamic characterics for a motorcar, the creating and the hammering test methods are introduced. This paper has studied the method of computing the natural frequency of the impulse wave on a tire, the decay constant which determines the absorption capability for the impulsive force. Moreover we have examined the reliability for the decay constant calculated, in this paper theoritical results are agreed with the simulated ones.

  • The bow flare structure of a ship is designed considering wave impact loads largely caused by relative motion of the ship and wave at rough sea. Empirical design is still used because impact phenomenon and structural behaviour due to wave impact load can not examined accurately. The objective of this study is, as the first step, to predict wave impact loads giving the structural damages to the bow flare structure from the damage data inversely, using dynamic nonlinear finite element code LS/DYNA3D, and to perform various parametric studies of wave impact pressure curve for its characteristics, such as peak height, duration time, tail height, rise time, etc.. The followings were obtained from this study: Dynamic structural responses against wave impact loads are largely affected by impact pressure impulse whose amount during duration time until peak deformation is very important.

  • In this research, the dynamic stability of an orthotropic elastic conical shell, with elasticity moduli and density varying in the thickness direction, subject to a uniform external pressure which is a power function of time, has been studied. After giving the fundamental relations, the dynamic stability and compatibility equations of a nonhomogeneous elastic orthotropic conical shell, subject to a uniform external pressure, have been derived. Applying Galerkin's method, these equations have been transformed to a pair of time dependent differential equations with variable coefficients. These differential equations are solved using the method given by Sachenkov and Baktieva (1978). Thus, general formulas have been obtained for the dynamic and static critical external pressures and the pertinent wave numbers, critical time, critical pressure impulse and dynamic factor. Finally, carrying out some computations, the effects of the nonhomogeneity, the loading speed, the variation of the semi-vertex angle and the power of time in the external pressure expression on the critical parameters have been studied.

  • In this paper, an adaptive IIR (infinite impulse response) notch filter of lattice type is constructed and its adaptation algorithm is proposed for the detection and retrieval of a sine wave signal embedded in noise. A modified method which adapts only one coefficient of the filter is also suggested. All these methods adapt the coefficients while keepting the poles of the filter inside the unit circle on z-plane, and thus they satisfy the condition on the stability of the IIR filter after it has converged. To investigate the convergence characteristics of these methods such as convergence speed and output S/N ratio, intensive computer simulation has been performed by varying the frequency of the sine wave and the input S/N ratio. And the results of the simulation have been compared to those of Rao and Kung's which shows relatively fast convergence speed. The methods proposed here, especially the second one. shows faster convergence speed and higher output S/N ratio than the Rao and Kung's.

Performances of Various AGC Algorithms for IEEE802.11p WAVE

  • This paper has reviewed the performances of various AGCs which can be adopted in IEEE802.11p modems. IEEE802.11p, a high speed mobile communication standard for vehicles, requires high performance signal detector since the channel impulse responses are varied rapidly in time. In order to select the optimal signal detector, we simulated the performances of three detection methods. One is using RSSI signal, the other is using RSSI signal and I/Q signal, and the third is using I/Q signal through the Monte Carlo simulation. We evaluated the performances of the algorithms using our own system based on MAX 2829 transceiver(MAXIM $Integrated^{TM}$) in a real vehicular environment. As a result, the experiment using Fully I/Q signal derives the most excellent performance with the lowest minimum receiver sensitivity, packet error rate (PER) and false alarm rate (FAR).

  • 진동 수주형 파력발전 시스템(oscillating water column wave energy converter)의 효율을 증대할 수 있는 터빈의 최대 효율 추종 제어기를 제안한다. 진동 수주형 파력발전 시스템은 캡처 챔버(capture chamber)와 터빈, 발전기로 구성되어 있으며 발전기 말단에 연결된 저항의 값을 제어 입력으로 삼는다. 본 논문에서는 파력발전 시스템의 캡처 챔버와 터빈의 동역학 모델에 대해 소개하고, 터빈의 최대 효율 추종 제어기의 안정성을 증명하고 이를 JONSWAP 모델의 비규칙 파랑 조건하에서 시뮬레이션 하여 제어기 성능을 입증한다.
