  • Harmony search (HS) is a relatively recently developed meta-heuristic optimization method imitating the music improvisation process where musicians improvise their instruments' pitches searching for a perfect state of harmony. In the conventional HS algorithm, it is necessary to determine the maximum number of iterations with some algorithm parameters. However, there is no criterion for determining the number of iterations, which is a very difficult problem. To solve this problem, a new method is proposed to perform the algorithm without setting the maximum number of iterations in this paper. The new method allows the algorithm to be performed until the desired tuning is achieved. To do this, a new variable bandwidth is introduced. In addition, the types and probability of harmonies composed of variables is analyzed to help to decide the value of HMCR. The performance of the proposed method is investigated and compared with classical HS. The experiments conducted show that the new method generally outperformed conventional HS when applied to seven benchmark problems.

  • A newly developed heuristic algorithm, Harmony Search, is applied to the parameter calibration problem of the nonlinear Muskingum model. The Harmony Search could, mimicking the improvisation of music player, find better parameter values for in the nonlinear Muskingum model than five other methods including another heuristic method, genetic algorithm, in the aspect of SSQ(the sum of the square of the deviations between the observed and routed outflows) as well as in the aspects of SAD(the sum of the absolute value of the deviations), DPO(deviations of peak of routed and actual flows) and DPOT(deviatios of peak time of routed and actual outflow). Harmony Search also has the advantage that it does not require the process of asuming the initial values of desing parameters. The sensitivity analysis of Harmony Memory Considering Rate showed that relatively large values of Harmony Memory Considering Rate makes the Harmony Search converge to a better solution.

  • Creativity can be defined as an art, the art of finding new solutions to old and emerging problems. Creativity's driving force may be a structured or a non structured process, though in either case intuition plays a major role. This particular art in this field is the product of employees' thought processes. By its nature, hinking is a free process. In the world of business, creativity is best able to express itself where people do their work with pleasure. Everybody is capable of being creative but organisations can stem the tide of creativity by putting various obstacles in its path. Creative organisations are characterised by particular values, oranisational forms and a conducive internal atmosphere.

  • This research studied the effects of music experiences on the language development of toddlers in the day care setting. Subjects were 44(23 experimental group; 21 control group) 29- to 42-month-old children. The experimental group experienced 10 weeks of music activities, including musical sense, singing, listening, playing instruments, improvisation, finger plays, movement, simple games, word-sound music games and music routines. Language development was tested by the Preschool Receptive-Expressive Language Scale(Kim et al. 2003). Significant differences were found in the receptive language development of 30- to 36-month-old and in the expressive language development of 36- to 42-month-old toddlers, respectively.

  • The aim of this article is to suggest that Samulnori will be able to produce better and more lovable language. Samulnori is a good example of the Korean music. Samulnori is originally meaning four-percussion play. Janggu and buk made of leather which were mainly cowskin and dogskin. But jing and kkaengwari made out of brass. Four percussions are an instrument composed of a pattern based on the theory of yin and yang. The principle of Samulnori rhythms are well made up of the relaxation, tension, improvisation, escalating rhythms, and dynamic sound. Samulnori looks like two lovers exchanging sweet words in the natural forest. The push and pull between four instruments like a love quarrel. The author feels that the rhythms of the four instruments are like the whispers and cries of lovers. In conclusion, the silent or passionate rhythm of Samulnori feels like two lovers' tightrope love. The author thinks it creates a rich language of love.

  • The purpose of this thesis is to analyze characteristics of everyday movement showed in performances of Steve Paxton. A work of art has been realized as a special object enjoyed by high class people as high culture for a long time. Therefore, a gap between everyday life and art has been greatly existed, and the emergence of everyday elements in a work of art means that public awareness involving social change is changed. The postmodernism as the period when a boundary between art and everyday life is uncertain was a postwar society after the Second World War and a social situation that rapidly changes into a capitalistic society. Changes in this time made scholars gain access academically concepts related to everyday life, and affected artists as the spirit of the times of pluralistic postmodernism refusing totality. At the same period of the time, modern dance also faced a turning point as post-modern dance. After the Second World War, modern dance started to be evaluated as it reaches the limit, and at this juncture, headed by dancers including the Judson Dance Theatre. Acting as a dancer in a dance company of Merce Cunningham, Steve Paxton, one of founders of the Judson Dance Theatre, had a critical mind of the conditions of dance company with the social structure and the process that movement is made. This thinking is showed in early performances as an at tempt to realize everyday motion it self in performances. His early activity represented by a walking motion attracted attention as a simple motion that excludes all artful elements of existing dance performances and is possible to conduct by a person who is not a dancer. Although starting the use of everyday movement is regarded as an open characteristic of post-modern dance, advanced researches on this were rare, so this study started. In addition, studies related to Steve Paxton are skewed towards Contact Improvisation that he rose as an active practician. As the use of ordinary movement before he focused on Contact Improvisation, this study examines other attempts including Contact Improvisation as attempts after the beginning of his performances. Therefore, the study analyzes Satisfyin' Lover, Contact at 10th & 2nd and Bound that are performances of Steve Paxton, and based on this, draws everyday characteristics. In addition, related books, academic essays, dance articles and reviews are consulted to consider a concept related to everyday life and understand dance historical movement of post-modern dance. Paxton attracted attention because of his activity starting at critical approach of movement of existing modern dance. As walking of performers who are not dancers, a walking motion showed in Satisfyin' Lover gave esthetic meaning to everyday movement. After that, he was affected by Eastern ideas, so developed Contact Improvisation making a motion through energy of the natural laws. In addition, he had everyday things on his performances, and used a method to deliver various images by using mundane movement and impromptu gestures originating from relaxed body. Everyday movement of his performances represents change in awareness of performances of the art of dancing that are traditionally maintained including change of dance genre of an area. His activity with unprecedented attempt and experimentation should be highly evaluated as efforts to overcome the limit of modern dance.

  • This study classified and confirmed the learning modes about start-ups that are based on the accelerator's program which was focusing on the Korean accelerators in the ICT field targeting global market. Eight accelerator practitioners were interviewed who were in charge of operating programs for accelerators, qualitatively analyzing method of the interview was conducted. The interview results to identify various learning modes that accelerators provide to startups through programs. In order to identify and classify learning modes, the researcher reviewed various prior documents and using categories of experience accumulation, observation, experimentation, trial and error, and improvisation as a priori code for the qualitative analysis. The interview results were analyzed through a subject analysis. As the result of the study, the learning modes offered by the accelerator's programs to startups were confirmed, with two subcategories identified for each of the five categories: experiential, learning from others, experimental, trial and error, and improvisation. Given the limited research on accelerator programs and their main function, the main function of accelerators, this study identified the types of learning modes that offered by the accelerator's programs to startups from the perspective of learning. This study provides important insights into the types of learning modes that offered by the accelerator programs, which can help to improve our understanding of how accelerators support organizational learning for startups. Additionally, this information can be useful for startups considering in participating in the accelerator programs, as it can help them making informed decisions about their involvement.
