  • The cooperation between archives and libraries is necessary for the management of limited operational space and the improvement of work efficiency. "Larchive" is one of the model of cooperation between libraries and archives, so it can be an alternative plan for institutions that face difficulties in collaborating through "Larchiveum" - growing model of cooperation between libraries, archives, and museums. This study presents the recognition of Larchive to university archivists and librarians, and suggests a practical operation plan for cooperation between the archive and library. As a result, "Larchive" was relatively less aware of archivists and librarians, but in the practical point of view, respondents were fully aware of the need for cooperation between archives and libraries. In particular, Larchive was presented as a rational alternative model for both of the groups. And the need for material cooperation can be confirmed through the recognition survey, and the improvement plan for business cooperation can be confirmed through the FGI. Some prerequisites are proposed such as securing a collaborative workplace, assignment of budget and manpower. Through the results, this study presented practical operational plans for organizational cooperation in the form of Larchive, focusing on the perspectives of "teaching and learning support", "research support services", "curation services", "collection and management of school history data", "cooperation for evaluation", and drew discussion points.

  • Background : Glycopeptide antibiotics are the only drugs for treatment of infections due to beta-lactam-resistant Gram-positive bacteria. As the incidence of infection and colonization with vancomycin-resistant enterococci(VRE) rapidly increases, the hospital infection control practices advisory committee(HICPAC) recommends prudent vancomycin use to detect, prevent and control infection and colonization with VRE. Methods : The inpatients admitted from September to December, 1996 in Pusan National University Hospital, with Gram-positive bacterial infections were evaluated retrospectively to see whether the administrations of glycopeptide antibiotics were appropriate or not, upon comparison with the recommendations for preventing the spread of vancomycin resistance by HICPAC. Results : Teicoplanin has been chosen more frequently than vancomycin of the glycopeptide antibiotics. The indications of administration of glycopeptides in patients with pneumonia, wound infections, sepsis, and in febrile or neutropenic patients with malignancies were appropriate, but the use of glycopeptides for elimination of merely colonized bacteria in the oral cavity could not be excluded. Inappropriate use of glycopeptides was 10.6%, and inappropriately long-term use without positive culture for beta-lactam-resistant Gram-positive organisms was about 40% of total days of drug use. Conclusion : It seems essential for the quality assurance committee to make a plan in teaching the HICPAC recommendations to the medical practitioners who prescribed the glycopeptides inappropriately or used for irrelevantly long to his patient, monitor and survey their use of glycopeptides prospectively and periodically, and if there are repeated inappropriate prescriptions, a certain penalty would be given to the practitioners.

  • In this study, we conducted eight reciprocal peer tutoring classes where each student took either role of a tutor or a tutee to study covariational reasoning in ninth graders. Students were given the opportunity to teach their peers with their covariational reasoning as tutors, and at the same time to learn covariational reasoning as tutees. A heterogeneous group was formed so that scaffolding could be provided in the teaching and learning process. A total of eight reciprocal peer tutoring worksheets were collected: four quantitative graph type questions and four questions of the qualitative graph to the group. The results of the analysis are as follows. In reciprocal peer tutoring, students who experienced a higher level of covariational reasoning than their covariational reasoning level showed an improvement in covariational reasoning levels. In addition, students enhanced the completeness of reasoning by modifying or supplementing their own covariational reasoning. Minimal teacher intervention or high-level peer mediation seems to be needed for providing feedback on problem-solving results.

  • This study is aimed to suggest a direction for the general environment education through analyzing current environment education curriculums and survey of educational needs for students in Korean universities. Since the result of this survey shows that most university students lack experience in environmental education in their secondary education, the basic educational programs as well as advanced educational programs should be included to develop a general environmental education curriculum for university students. So far, general environmental education for university students has not witnessed a clear and distinct object and direction. Since we live in a situation where environmental problems should be considered in every aspect of our society, the general environmental education curriculum for university students shall play a role to solve these problems. Additionally, we need to change the way of environment education from educating and raising the environment professionals to educating and raising people who comprehensively understand economy, society and environment under the sustainable development paradigm. Also the focus of environmental education should swift from natural science to over all perspectives. Recently, the need of interdisciplinary curriculum for the environment education field has been discussed in universities. However, it has not been integrated into the normal curriculum. In this regard, systemic improvement which enables general education curriculum to operate flexibly will be followed. The key to establish an interdisciplinary curriculum is a flexible educational curriculum system which can solve problems arising from departmental curriculums, and promptly respond to the demand of educational and social consumers. Additionally, the result of survey shows that students want diverse educational operations and teaching methods, equipping educational assistance system for these needs will be required.

  • This study aims to look into students' and teachers' recognition about learning with a humanoid robot and seek for a policy implication for the direction of education using humanoid robot. To achieve this goal, a survey with elementary school students and teachers was used as the method of analysis. The main results are as follows: There was a difference in the recognition of the teachers and the students regarding the most effective subject through the use of humanoid robot. While the students consider Physical Education as the major subject, the teachers consider Science as the one. The students recognize that the use of humanoid is most effective in helping their learning while the teachers recognize that it is most effective in helping their teaching. As an expected positive effect, both of them choose an increase in interest in learning as the main effect of the use of humanoid robot, but the students, unlike the teachers, consider the improvement of their academic achievement as its main effect as well. These results show differences in the recognition of the use of humanoid between the teachers and the students, and in addition, confirm the difference between them depending on their background.
