  • 본 연구는 End-Burning 하이브리드 로켓 연소에서 연료직경과 인젝터 형상 변화, 인젝터 각도 변화를 통한 스월강도 변화에 따른 연소특성의 변화을 알아보기 위해 수행하였다. 연료직경이 커지면 연료의 연소량이 증가하고, 인젝터 직경이 커질수록 후퇴율이 낮아졌다. 그리고 본 연구의 End-Burning 연소기는 고체연료의 연소율에 미치는 영향이 산화제 유동의 Impinging 효과 보다는 Swirl 효과가 더 큼을 확인했다. 스월상수를 적용한 후퇴율식을 도출하여, 스월상수가 서로 다른 경우들에 대한 후퇴율 관계식을 하나의 식으로 표현할 수 있었다.

충돌 제트에 의해 형성되는 액막의 두께 특성에 관한 연구 (Interferometric Measurements of the Thickness Distribution of the Liquid Sheet Formed by Two Impinging Jets)

  • In this research, a study on the characteristics of the liquid sheet formed by two impinging jets is presented. Using the interference phenomena of light, the thickness of the liquid sheet, which seems to heavily affect the size of the droplets, is measured and compared with existing theoretical modelings. Thinner liquid sheet is produced with larger impinging angle, smaller orifice diameter, and higher azimuthal angle but the jet velocity doesn't affect the thickness. More viscous liquid produces thicker liquid sheet. The theoretical modelings predict the same trend as the experiments but the thickness values are overestimated at low azimuthal angles. This difference is gradually decreased as the azimuthal angle is increased: The breakup mechanism of the droplets from the liquid sheet is visualized by a high speed camera. The crest around the edge of the liquid sheet is protruded with the accumulation of liquid at the end of protuberance, which contracts into a spherical shape and then becomes detached when the stem breaks down, producing large droplets with a few small size of satellites.

벽면에 충돌하는 가솔린 분무의 특성에 관한 연구 (A study on the characteristics of gasoline spray to impinge on wall)

  • Even though a relatively complete knowledge base has been established for diesel sprays, much of the knowledge cannot be directly translated to correlate the characteristics of gasoline spray. The macroscopic characteristics of gasoline impingement spray was investigated with photographic and image processing technique by Particle Motion Analysis System. The injector with single hole nozzle diameter of 0.28 mm was used in this experiment and the injection duration was selected as 10 msec. The injection pressure with 0.3, 0.35, and 0.4 MPa, impingement distance or 70, 100 and 130m, impingement angle or 0.15, 30 and $45^{\circ}$ were employed for the variables to affect the spray characteristics of impinging spray. It is clear that there is the analogy on the spray tip penetration between the gasoline impinging jet and diesel free jet. The spray tip penetration of impinging gasoline spray is proportional to the quarter power of the time after start of injection. The maximum height of impinging gasoline spray is also proportional to the quarter power of the time regardless of impingement distance, impingement angle and injection pressure. In addition, the effect of impingement angle on the spray tip penetration is significant according to the time after start of injection, even though there is minor effect in the initial stage of time after start of injection. Moreover, there is no remarkable effect of injection pressure on the spray tip Penetration under the experimental condition used in this study.

충돌판에 의한 원판형 분무의 공간분포에 관한 실험적 연구 (A Study on the Distribution of Cylindrical Disk Spray by a Impinging Disk)

  • The goal of this study is to provide fundamental information on the design of a new diesel injector system. The cylindrical disk spray was made by an impinging disk insited below the exit of air-assist atomizor. The disintegration processes on a twin-fluid atomization by air-assist atomizor were investigated. Liquid jet was disintegrated at the condition that wavelength was equal and longer than the circumference of the liquid jet, .lambda. .geq. .pi.do. However, the wavelength and the diameter of the liquid jet were decreased according to the increasing of air velocity. The relative density distribution of droplets and pattern of spray by impinging disk were investigated with a C-CCD. Optimum design conditions for cylindrical disk spray were also achieved. The pattern of cylindrical spray can classified according to the size of the disk and the distance from the nozzle tip to the disk. When the space of the disk and the nozzle tip was narrow and the diameter of the disk was larger than that of the air orifice of the nozzle exit, the good distribution of spray could be achieved. When the air flowrate was constant, the spray width was decreased according to the increasing of the liquid flowrate. When the liquid flowrate was constant, the spray width was decreased according to the increasing of the air flowrate.

Twin Spray Characteristics Between Two Impinging F-O-O-F Type Injectors

  • This paper presents twin spray characteristics of two impinging F-O-O-F type injectors in which fuel and oxidizer impinge on each other to atomize under the various conditions. The droplet size and velocity in the impinging spray flow field were measured using PDPA. The droplet size and velocity were investigated at the mixture ratios of 1.5, 2.0, 2.47 and 3.0 for four injectors in which two single F-O-O-F injectors were arranged at the intervals of 20.8, 31.2, 41.6 and 62.4mm respectively. In general, the arithmetic mean diameter, SMD and standard deviation of droplet size in the interaction area (X=0 and Y=0mm) were smaller, while the axial velocity in the interaction area was slightly higher. An empirical correlation is obtained for the (D$\_$10/)$\_$D//(D$\_$10/)$\_$c/ value under the assumptions of two identical droplets and these with different size and velocity. The droplets with low Weber numbers below 40 have possibility to coalesce, while those over 40 tend to disintegrate after impingement in the interaction area.

Considering the behavior of impinged droplets using the We number calculated by using the axial velocity instead of the relative velocity in line C in Fig. 1(b) for four injectors, it is consumed that the We number over 500 had the possibility to disintegrate, and the We number below 500 had it to cohere after impingement of twin spray. The results of this study can be used for the design of a nozzle for liquid propellant rockets.

젤 모사 추진제의 점도 변화에 따른 분무 분열 및 파장 변화 특성 (Breakup Process and Wave Development Characteristics of Gel Propellant Simulants at Various Gelling Agent Contents)

  • Gelled propellants are non-Newtonian fluids in which the viscosity is a function of the shear rate, and they have a high dynamic shear viscosity which depends on the amount of gelling agent contents. The present study has focused on the breakup process, wave development of ligament and liquid sheets formed by impinging jets with various gelling agent contents. The breakup process of like-on-like doublet impinging jets are experimentally characterized using non-Newtonian liquids. The spray shape with elliptical pattern is distributed in a perpendicular direction to the momentum vectors of the jets. Gelled propellant simulants with high viscosity jets are more stable and produce less pronounced surface waves than low viscosity jets. Gelled propellant simulants from like-on-like doublet impinging jets have the spray shape of closed rim patterns at low pressure. As the injection pressure increased, rimless patterns which were composed of ligament sheets and small droplets emerged due to the effect of the aerodynamic action.

  • 본 논문에서는 액체로켓엔진용 160 kW급 터보펌프의 터빈을 구동하고, 액체산소와 케로신을 추진제로 사용하는 연료 과잉 가스발생기의 설계점 연소성능시험 결과에 대해 논의하였다. 충돌형 F-O-F 분사기로 구성된 헤드부, 물냉각 채널 연소실, torch igniter, turbulence ring 그리고 측정 링을 갖는 가스발생기에 대해 기술하였고, 설계점에서의 연소시험 및 turbulence ring 장착여부. 연소실 길이 변화에 따른 연소시험의 결과들에 대해 기술하였다. 연소시험 결과 가스발생기는 설계점에서 안정된 작동성을 보여주었고. 연소압력 및 온도 등의 성능은 예측치에 근접하는 결과였다. Turbulence ring은 출구에서의 가스온도를 균일하게 분포시켜 효과적인 혼합 장치임을 보여 주었고, 4∼6msec 정도에서의 연소가스 잔류시간은 연소효율에 큰 영향을 주지 않았다. 가스발생기 출구에서의 온도는 공급되는 추진제의 O/F ratio에 따라 매우 민감하게 변화하였다.

  • Experimental studies on determination of the supply leading time of propellants to combustion chamber have been made to stably and efficiently guarantee the ignition process with liquid rocket engine. The propellant used is a Jet A-1 as fuel and a liquid oxygen as oxidizer. Unlike impinging FOOF type of injectors are arranged radially and the designed O/F ratio is 2.34. The present experiment program also includes the stability on the quadlet type of ignitor using the triethylalumimum as an ignition source and injector life tests. Experimental results clarifies that the propellant supply through LOx leading to combustion chamber is proper for stable ignition and combustion processes based on the fuel and oxidizer manifold pressures, combustion chamber pressure, and the variation of flame length from the nozzle exit with lapse time, and shows that the leading supply time of propellants affects the engine performance little. The effect of positioning cooling holes is remarkable to protect the injector face.

  • 성능이 우수한 액체로켓엔진 개발을 위해서 연소기 효율에 매우 큰 영향을 미치는 분사기 개발이 매우 중요하다 본 논문에서는 실물형 연소기 개발 전단계로 수행된 여러 가지의 축소형 연소기에 대한 설계 그리고 연소시험 결과에 대하여 논하였다. 충돌형 분사기 1종, 와류 딪힘형 분사기 1종, 와류분사기 혼합형 4종을 장착한 총 6종의 축소형 연소기를 제작하였다. 축소형 연소기의 연소시험은 대체로 성공적이었으며 연소 효율은 설계 목표치를 상회하였고 추진제 차압은 설계치와 비슷한 값이었으며 동압은 규제조건을 만족하였다.
