  • Based on characteristics of resonator in BPF, a resonant characteristic is obtained by using variation of characteristic impedance in rectangular waveguide. And we have designed and made a novel waveguide BPF with this phenomenon. This filter can be made with arbitrary lengths of rectangular waveguide resonators.

  • A new type toroidal core transformer for impedance matching for 30MHz~90MHz has been designed and fabricated. It is shown to be reasonably good characteristics that insertind loss was 1.2[dB], VSWR was 1:2.0 and 100[%] bandwidthe was achieved. It is expected that resulting transformer can be used to replace existing frequency selector type matching network because it is much more compact and relatively easy to contruct.

  • A impedance model simulating the electrical characteristics of the Electrodeless fluorescent lamp operated at high frequency is proposed. The model is constructed from a two parameter equation which is derived based on a set of two measurements. This is a readily constructed and computer simulator oriented model which is suitable for a preliminary design of electronic ballasts. Simulated and experimental results arc used to verify the analytical discussions, and, moreover, an electronic ballast design example using the proposed model is presented to further demonstrate its applications.

  • To obtain a low ground resistance in high resistivity soil, long vertical ground rods are often used. However, if the lightning current or fault current with high frequency flow into the grounding system, the ground impedance is significantly increased because of the inductive behavior. This paper presents how the impulse current works on the long vertical ground electrodes. The different shape of current was impressed between ground rods and auxiliary electrode by using impulse generator and the ground impedance was calculated from the ground potential rise.

  • In this study, we investigated the characteristics of the input impedance and the gain of a ‘Folded dipole antenna with stub’ by the Method of Moments. The center frequency in this study is 200MHz, the radius of wire is 0.5nm, and the distance between two linear dipoles is 2cm. The inside variation of stub length within 18cm and the outside variation of stub length 4.5cm ive the value of SWR(Standing Wave Ratio) within 3. This means that the impedance matching between the ‘Folded dipole antenna with stub’ and receiver can easily be performed without a supplementary matching circuit.

  • Recently the interest in wireless power transfer have been studied. ECR (Electromagnetic Coupled Resonance) device, depending on the size of the frequency characteristics of the structure, increasing in volume and larger volume of wireless power transmission device to make use of ECR is a big barrier. So to solve this problem for ECR device miniaturization and high efficiency has been actively studied. In this paper, the size of the device for ECR IM (Impedance Matching) by applying a one-turn coil circuit, remove the device in the form of ECR Network Analyzer measured by removing the one-turn coil has demonstrated the possibility of the device in the form of ECR.

  • A dissipation factor standard of decade type having the range of 1 to 0.0001 at the frequency of 1 kHz and 10 kHz was fabricated using "T" networks combined R and C components. The values of the fabricated dissipation factor standard were adjusted within 1% of the nominal values at 0.0001 dial range and 0.05% at the others. This dissipation factor standard is used as a working standard for calibration of a impedance measurement meter at KRISS and as a primary standard of dissipation factor field at NML-SIRIM in Malaysia.

Study on Equivalent Circuits of Sodalite Type Materials by Complex Impedance Analysis

  • Electrical characteristics of Fe-substituted sodalites were analyzed and equivalent circuits of samples were designed using impedance and admittance data. Internal components of resistances (R$_e$, R$_b$, and R$_{gb}$) and capacitances (C$_b$, C$_dl$ and C$_D$) could be extracted by changing the frequency of measurement at three different temperatures. Upon increasing the temperature, electrical properties of the samples could be elucidated in detail by equivalent circuit. The substitution of Fe on Al site was indirectly confirmed by ESCA and the results explain the lower polarity in Na-O bond of Fe 10 mole ${\%}$-substituted sodalite.

A Study for Frequency Characteristics of Solenoid-Type RF Chip Inductors (크기에 따른 솔레노이드 형태 RF 칩 인덕터의 주파수 특성 연구)

  • In this work, small-size, high-performance solenoid-type RF chip inductors utilizing a low-loss ${Al_2}{O_3}$ core material were investigated. The size of the chip inductors fabricated in this work were $0.86{\times}0.46{\times}0.45m^3$, $1.5{\times}1.0{\times}0.7m^3$, $2.1{\times}1.5{\times}1.0m^3$, and $2.4{\times}2.0{\times}1.4m^3$ and copper (Cu) wire with $27{\sim}40{\mu}m$ diameter was used as the coils. High frequency characteristics of the inductance, quality factor, and impedance of developed inductors were measured using an RF Impedance/Material Analyzer (HP4291B with HP16193A test fixture). It was observed that the developed inductors with the number of turns of 7 have the inductance of 13 to 100nH and exhibit the self-resonant frequency (SRF) of 6.4 to 1.1GHz. The SRF of inductors decreases with increasing the inductance and the inductors have the quality factor of 50 to 80 in the frequency range of 300MHz to 1.3GHz. In this study, small-size solenoid-type RF chip inductors with high inductance and high quality factor were fabricated successfully.

  • In this paper, we have explained electrical characteristics of a step-down Rosen type piezoelectric transformer for AC-adapter. When the electric voltage is applied to the driving piezoelectric vibrator polarized in the longitudinal direction, then output voltage is generated at the generating piezoelectric vibrator polarized in the thickness direction due to the piezoelectric effects. Output voltage and current from a 11-layered and a 13-layered piezoelectric transformer were measured under the various conditions of loads and frequencies. We measured resonant frequency from impedance curve. It was shown from experiments that output voltage has increased and resonant frequency has changed according to various resistor loads. Output current has changed inversely proportional to resistances.
