We have experimentally analyzed the self-radiation impedance of an ultrasonic transducer with a square radiation surface that is used as a vibrator in underwater ultrasonic detection systems. The radiation reactance and the radiation resistance were measured in the range from 1 to 3 of ka that is the product of a wave number and a length of the edge of the square vibrator. By comparing the measured results with those of theoretical calculation of the radiation impedance using a series, we confirmed the validity of the experimental method and experimentally confirmed the variation trend in the radiation impedance of the square radiation surface.

Polycrystalline Si(polysilicon) TFTs have opened a way for the next generation of display devices, due to their higher mobility of charge carriers relative to a-Si TFTs. The polysilicon W applications extend from the current Liquid Crystal Displays to the next generation Organic Light Emitting Diodes (OLED) displays. In particular, the OLED devices require a stricter control of properties of gate oxide layer, polysilicon layer, and their interface. The polysilicon layer is generally obtained by annealing thin film a-Si layer using techniques such as solid phase crystallization and excimer laser annealing. Typically laser-crystallized Si films have grain sizes of less than 1 micron, and their electrical/dielectric properties are strongly affected by the presence of grain boundaries. Impedance spectroscopy allows the frequency-dependent measurement of impedance and can be applied to inteface-controlled materials, resolving the respective contributions of grain boundaries, interfaces, and/or surface. Impedance spectroscopy was applied to laser-annealed Si thin films, using the electrodes which are designed specially for thin films. In order to understand the effect of grain size on physical properties, the amorphous Si was exposed to different laser energy densities, thereby varying the grain size of the resulting films. The microstructural characterization was carried out to accompany the electrical/dielectric properties obtained using the impedance spectroscopy, The correlation will be made between Si grain size and the corresponding electrical/dielectric properties. The ramifications will be discussed in conjunction with active-matrix thin film transistors for Active Matrix OLED.

Truncal obesity associated with insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome increase the likelihood of hypertension, various cardiovascular diseases, hyperlipidemia and coronary heart diseases. International Diabetes Federation (IDF) experts recognized that it is necessary to develop the simple diagnostic tool which is applicable to diagnose truncal obesity worldwide, and proposed the method using a waist circumference but there is a limit to estimate subcutaneous fat distribution. However, waist line is also influenced by total fat capacity less than the intra abdominal fat. The more having severe obesity, the more correlation coefficient between waist line and intra abdominal fat is low. Therefore, this thesis defines a new abdominal impedance measurement position and impedance-index to analysis central obesity. This proposes the new model to estimate abdominal obesity using the abdominal impedance-index and CT images acquired fro 160 Korean subjects. The proposed model shows that the abdominal fat distribution has a higher correlation than waist line. (Adj R2=0.809, 0.667 and 0.687 with abdominal fat area, visceral fat area and subcutaneous fat area respectively).
Composite materials consisting of crushed carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) pieces and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) resin were prepared by an injection mold method to solve the problem of recycling of CFRP. The electrical properties, such as electrical resistivity, alternating current impedance and electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding effect, were measured for the composites. The electrical resistivity of the composites showed a percolation type of conduction behavior and no difference between parallel and perpendicular to the injection direction was observed for CFRP content higher than the critical value. Measurement of alternating current impedance revealed that the conduction mechanism is attributed to the direct conductive paths generated by distributed carbon fibers; however, strong frequency dependence of the impedance was observed for the CFRP content near the critical one. The frequency dependence of the impedance is caused by the inter-fiber connection and can be expressed as a simple equivalent circuit. The absorption component of shielding effect (SE) was smaller than the expected value estimated from its resistivity. The decline of SE is thought to be caused by the decrease in effective thickness due to fiber orientation.

For the accurate measurement of acoustic properties of a surface, efforts have been made to reduce errors caused by external disturbance. If the reflection coefficient is considered as a transfer function between reflected wave and incident wave, causality is required between them and the reflection coefficient should be of minimum phase. In this thesis, the minimum phase condition is applied to measure correct reflection coefficient. The reflection coefficient is approximated as a rational function in the Z domain by minimizing the sum square error. Then the minimum phase reflection coefficient is reconstructed using the distribution of poles and zeros of the reflection coefficient model. The incident wave, the reflected wave and the impulse response function of causality are recalculated from the minimum phase reflection coefficient for further applications.

In this paper, we present a simple design method and measurement results for circular loop antenna arrays, which can be used for LS band operation, such as access point antennas in the wireless LAN system. It has been shown that the input impedance of a circular loop can be adjusted near 100 $\Omega$ using a short stub. The length of the stub can be immediately determined in the work place through the measurement of S11 with a network analyzer. Fabricated arrays show high antenna gains as much as 12.4㏈i and 15.1 ㏈i at the center frequency of 2.45 ㎓ for 4${\times}$l and 4${\times}$2 array, respectively. These types of loop arrays can be fabricated at a low cost.

Measurement techniques for the in-duct source characteristics of fluid machines can be classified into direct method and load method, according to whether the technique employs an external acoustic source or not. It has been known that the two methods yield different results and the load method used to come up with a negative source resistance, in spite of the fact that a very accurate prediction of radiated noise can be obtained by using any result. This paper is focused to the effect of time-varying nature of fluid machines on the output result. For this purpose, a simplified fluid machine consisting of a reservoir, a valve and a pipe is considered as representing a typical linear, periodic, time-varying system and the measurement techniques are simulated by utilizing the Hill equation and its steady-state forced response. In the load method, the source impedance turns out being dependent on the valve impedance at the calculation frequency and the valve and load impedances at other frequencies as well.
High speed probe for measurement of sin91e flux quantum circuits is comprised of coaxial cables and microstrip lines in order to carry high speed signals without loss. For the impedance matching between coaxial cable and microstrip line, we have determined the dimension of the microstrip line with 50${\Omega}$ impedance by simulation and then have investigated the effect of line width and cross-sectional shape of signal line, dielectric material, thickness of soldering lead at the coaxial-to-microstrip transition Point, and the an91c between dielectric material and end part of the signal line on the characteristics of signal transmission of the microstrip line. From the simulation, we have found that these all parameter's had influenced on the characteristic of signal transmission on the microstrip line and should be reflected in fabricating high speed probe, We have also determined the dimension of coplanar waveguide to fabricate testing sample for performance test of high speed probe.

The metallurgical transformation ratios of metals have been evaluated by the eddy current method. Eddy current probes have been designed and applied to various standard samples. The equivalent impedance estimated from the eddy current measurement is closely related to the variation of transformation ratios in metals. It has been found that the variation of the impedance is relatively large in the samples where the transformation ratios of the samples are small. Both reactance and resistance increase when the transformation ratio is large. Sensitivities of eddy current test is increased with increasing frequencies and by inserting ferrite core the solenoid eddy probe. Our results have shown the implementation of eddy current measurement to the one-line nondestructive testing of metals.

The electrical Properties of ZnO added TiO$_2$were investigated by using the complex impedance measurement and voltage-current source and measurement unit. The electrical conductivity of ZnO added TiO$_2$decrease with increasing the content of ZnO. The frequency-dependent Ac conductivity increase as frequency increase. Also, the trend of capacitances is similar to the AC conductivity. The semicircles of impedance spectrum increase with increasing ZnO contents. The decrease of electrical conductivity seems to be the effect of ZnO acceptor adding.
