The ballistic limit of Carbon/Epoxy composite laminates with the finite effective area are predicted by using the quasi-static perforation test and semi-empirical formula. The perforation energy were calculated from force-displacement curve in quasi-static perforation test. Also, the actual ballistic limit and penetration energy were obtained through the high-velocity impact test. The quasi-static perforation test and high-velocity impact test were conducted for the specimens with 3 different effective areas. In the high-velocity impact test, the air gun impact tester were used, and the ballistic and residual velocity was measured. The required inputs for the semi-empirical formula were determined by the quasi-static perforation tests and high-velocity impact tests. The comparison between semi-empirical formula and high-velocity impact test results were conducted and examined. The ballistic limits predicted by semi-empirical formula were agreed well with high-velocity impact test results.
To minimize the impact of urbanization, accurate performance evaluation of Low Impact Development (LID) facilities is needed. In Korea, the method designed to evaluate large-scale non-point pollution reduction facilities is being applied to LID facilities. However, it has been pointed out that this method is not suitable for evaluating the performance of relatively small-scale installed LID facilities. In this study, a new design formula was proposed based on the ratio of LID facility area and contributing drainage area, for estimating the Stormwater Interception Ratio (SIR) for LID facilities. The SIR was estimated for bio-retentions, infiltration trenches and vegetative swales, which are typical LID facilities, under various conditions through long-term stormwater simulation using the LID module of EPA SWMM. Based on the results of these numerical experiments, the new SIR formula for each LID facility was derived. The sensitivity of the proposed SIR formula to local rainfall properties and design variables is analysed. In addition, the SIR formula was compared with the existing design formula, the Rainfall Interception Ratio (RIR).

This study applied regression analysis to evaluate the impact of hourly average congestion calculated by bumper model in the congested area of each passage of each port on the peak time congestion, to suggest the model formula that can predict the peak time congestion. This study conducted regression analysis of hourly average congestion and peak time congestion based on the AIS survey study of 20 ports in Korea. As a result of analysis, it was found that the hourly average congestion has a significant impact on the peak time congestion and the prediction model formula was derived. This formula($C_p=4.457C_a+29.202$) can be used to calculate the peak time congestion based on the predicted hourly average congestion.
Actually, prediction formula of road traffic noise for EIA(Environmental Impact Assessment) has been used that proposed by National Institute of Environmental Research in 1999. The prediction formula, however, was calculated predicted noise level according to noise level producing on first floor, then needs to correct noise level at each floor in the case of apartment building. The investigation was carried out to calculate the correction coefficient for commonly using in EIA of large scaled apartment development areas. The noised level at each floor were measured from August 2001 to March 2002 at 31 investigation points of large scaled apartment development area in national wide. Measured data were divided and treated with 4 types as 3th floor, 5th floor, 7th floor and 10th floor and then the correction coefficients of each floor were calculated using by correlation formula according to each floor.
The comparison of three different kind of simulation by screen3 model, Tem-8 model and EPA formula were undertaken to get a potential concentration and hourly maximum concentration of fugitive dust produced from each construction site in the downtown area of puchon city. The amount of dust estimate U.S EPA formula and fugitive dust formula 22.6078g/sec, 27.9572g/sec respectively. Hourly maximum concenstration at the distance from each construction site by screen3 model are average of $78.89{\sim}728.40{\mu}g/m^3$ and Tem-8 model are $97{\mu}g/m^3$ in site-1, $241{\mu}g/m^3$ in site-2, $268{\mu}g/m^3$ in site-3, $232{\mu}g/m^3$ in site-4, $69{\mu}g/m^3$ in site-5, $36{\mu}g/m^3$ in site-6. Through our experiment, Screen3 model is more encouragingly used than any other model.

Since consists of regression equation by penetration depth prediction calculated by existing NDRC formula mainly considers properties of projectile, impact velocity, compressive strength as parameter, it is difficult to apply it to fire reinforced concrete. In this study, scabbing limit thickness was predict considering fiber reinforcement effect by local fracture of concrete was evaluated through high-velocity impact test. As a result of applying fracture reduction coefficient to NDRC, it was possible to predict scabbing limit thickness of fiber reinforced concrete similarly with actual measurement.
Purpose: Regurgitation is a common physiological phenomenon in infants. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the efficacy of a new anti-regurgitation (AR) formula (Novalac), thickened with an innovative complex including fibres, on the daily number of regurgitations and to assess its impact on stool consistency and frequency. Methods: Infants younger than five months, presenting at least 5 regurgitations per day were recruited in this trial. The efficacy of the new formula on regurgitation (daily number and Vandenplas score), stool frequency and consistency were assessed at day 14 and 90. Growth data were recorded at each study visit. Results: Ninety babies (mean age $9.6{\pm}5.8weeks$) were included in the full analysis data set. The mean number of regurgitation episodes at inclusion was $7.3{\pm}3.4$. In all infants, regurgitations improved after 2 weeks. The daily number of regurgitations decreased significantly ($-6.3{\pm}3.3$, p<0.001) including in those previously fed a thickened formula ($-6.2{\pm}3.0$, p<0.001). There was no significant change in stool consistency at day 14. After 3 months, 97.5% of infants had formed or soft stools. Growth was appropriate with a slight increase of weight-for-age z-score (from $-0.5{\pm}1.0$ to $-0.1{\pm}0.9$) and no change of weight-for length z-score ($-0.1{\pm}1.1$ to $-0.1{\pm}-1.1$). Conclusion: The new AR formula thickened with an innovative complex is very effective in reducing the daily number of regurgitations without having a negative impact on stools consistency.

Plunging breaker slamming pressures on vertical or sloping sea dikes are one of the most severe and dangerous loads that sea dike structures can suffer. Many studies have investigated the impact forces caused by breaking waves for maritime structures including sea dikes and most predictions of the breaker forces are based on empirical or semi-empirical formulae calibrated from laboratory experiments. However, the wave breaking mechanism is complex and more research efforts are still needed to improve the accuracy in predicting breaker forces. This study proposes a semi-empirical formula, which is based on impulse-momentum relation, to calculate the slamming pressure due to plunging wave breaking on a sloping sea dike. Compared with some measured slamming pressure data in two literature, the calculation results by the new formula show reasonable agreements. Also, by analysing probability distribution function of wave heights, the proposed formula can be converted into a probabilistic expression form for convenience only.
From the structural safety point of view, ductility is an important parameter, a relatively high level of curvature ductility would provide to the structure an increased chance of survival against accidental impact and seismic attack. The ductility of reinforced concrete beams is very important, because it is the property that allows structures to dissipate energy in seismic zone. This paper presents a revision of an earlier formula for predicting the curvature ductility factor of unconfined HSC beams to make it simpler in the use. The new formula is compared with the earlier formula and other numerical and experimental results. The new formula regroups all parameters can affecting the curvature ductility of unconfined HSC beams and it has the same domain of application as the earlier formula.

This paper describes the evaluation of the impact performance of steel fiber-reinforced concrete based on high-velocity impact experiments using hard spherical balls. In this experimental study, panel specimens with panel thickness to ball diameter (h/d) ratios of 3.5 or less were tested with variables of steel fiber volume fraction, panel thickness, impact velocity, and aggregate size. Test results were compared with each other to evaluate the impact resistance. The results showed that the percentage of weight and surface loss decreased as the steel volume fraction increased. However, the penetration depth increased with up to steel fiber volume fraction of 1.5%. Particularly the results of specimens with 20 mm aggregates showed poorer performance than those with 8 mm aggregates. The results also confirmed that the impact performance prediction formulas are conservative with (h/d) ratios of 3.5 or less. Despite the conservative predictions, the modified NDRC formula and ACE formula predict the impact performance more consistently than the Hughes formula.
