The present study aims at estimating the model of bus bunching duration along with its influential determinants in an attempt to understand the status of bus bunching being created by buses from various routes converging into one bus stop. To do so, the duration analysis, a well-known survival analysis, was adopted in order to capture the distribution of duration time as for 8 base lines, accordingly developing the model best fit for weibull distribution. Key attention to draw out the duration time model for bus bunching phenomena was laid, by analyzing 18 impact factors, on such criterion variables as number of berth, number of bus line in each berth and maximum capacity of on-and-off passengers in each line. Comparison in two typical types of bus lane was made between bus-only center lane(Dobong Mia-ro) and normal street-side lane(Tongil Euiju-ro). In this regard, the study, based on the model as above, suggested appropriate alternatives to improve the bus operation by effectively controlling bus bunching.

This paper concerns the spin-stabilization for the second stage of KSR-III(Korea Sounding Rocket-III). The error sources in the second stage are defined, and then the effect on attitude error of KSR-III is analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. Based on the analysis, some conditions for optimal spinning frequency and optimal steady-spinning duration are suggested. Among several solutions, an optimal value can be determined in the point of minimum impact-point error. An approach to a sub-optimal solution is also suggested. Application to the KSR-III shows that a proper spinning frequency and a steady-spin duration to give the smallest impact-point error can be effectively determined.

In this study the thermal impact characteristics by forest fire are extensively investigated using temperature controlled ovens. The test conditions for thermal impact damage are simulated according to the characteristics of natural forest fire. The test pieces are suspension porcelain insulators made by KRI in 2005 for transmission lines. In the thermal impact cycle tests with $300\;^{\circ}C$ thermal impact gradient (-70 to $230\;^{\circ}C$), cycling in 10 minute periods, no critical failures occurred in the test samples even with long cycle times. But in tests with thermal impact gradient from room temperature to $200-600\;^{\circ}C$, cycling in 10 to 30 minute periods, there were critical failures of the porcelain insulators according to the thermal impact gradient and quenching method. In the case of thermal impact by forest fire, it was found of that duration time is more important than the cycling time, and the initiation temperature of porcelain insulator failures is about $300\;^{\circ}C$, in the case of water quenching, many cracks and fracture of the porcelain occurred. It was found that the thermal impact failure is closely related to the displacement in the cement by thermal stress as confirmed by simulation. It was estimated that the initiation displacement by the thermal impact of $300\;^{\circ}C$ is about 0.1 %. Above 1% displacement, it is expected that the most porcelain insulators would fail.

In this study, an impact model and impact response analysis method was suggested for the impacts between arbitrary shaped bodies. Unlike the impacts between geometrically simple structures, there is no rules to analyze the impacts between general elastic structures First of all, it has been attempted to explain the impoot between arbitrary elastic structures as the elastic deformation of a virtual contact spring in the vicinity of contact points. The contact stiffness and the exponent are determined from the Hertz's contact theory and F. E. analysis. In order to evaluate the validities and limitations of the proposed methods, an impact tester and the miniature of container, missile and isolators have been provided and tested experimentally. All the experiments were performed with various impact conditions. The results obtained by the proposed methods were directly compared with the measured values in terms of maximum contract force, contact duration, the shape of contact force and the structure responses. The computed contact force and responses, using this proposed methods, were very close to the measured results, unless any plastic deformations were presented.

The cycle time of construction equipment for earthwork operations has a significant impact on project productivity. Elements that directly impact a haul vehicle's cycle time must be identified in order to accurately quantify the haul cycle time and implement strategies to decrease it. The objective of this research is to scientifically identify and quantify variables that have a significant impact on the cycle time of a dump truck used for earthwork. Real-time location data collected by GPS devices deployed in an active earthwork moving construction site was analyzed using statistical regression. External data including environmental components and haul road conditions were also collected periodically throughout the study duration. Several statistical analyses including a variance analysis and regression analysis were completed on the dump truck location data. Collected data was categorized by stage of the dump truck cycle. Results indicate that a dump truck's enter idle time, exit idle time, moving speed and driver visibility can significantly impact the dump truck cycle time. The contribution of this research is the identification and analysis of statistically significant correlations of variables within the cycle time.

In this study, the small-scale collision experiments using a pendulum principle were carried out to evaluate the safety of the reinforced concrete building selected as a tsunami evacuation building due to the collision of the waterborne debris represented by ships. The experimental parameters were set as impact velocity, mass and length of the drifted ship. In this paper, the maximum impact force, impact duration, impact waveform and restitution coefficient affecting building response were investigated in detail. As a result, the impact force waveforms were distributed as a triangle in most of the experimental results, but became closer to a trapezoid as the length of the collision specimen increased. This is the very important result in calculating the momentum (impact waveform area) affecting building response, Furthermore, the restitution coefficients were constant regardless of the impact velocity, but they varied depending on the mass and length of the waterborne debris. However, the restitution coefficient for the mass per unit length of the waterborne debris can be evaluated.
LID facilities like bio-retention cells is applied to manage stormwater. LID concept becomes an important part in stormwater management, and the clear understanding of hydrologic performance and hydrologic impact on the corresponding catchment has been needed. In this study, the application of flow duration curves as design strategy is investigated. Bio-retention cells like many LID facilities are installed to reproduce natural hydrologic processes. In this study, the attempt to determine the size of a bio-retention cell is carried out to satisfy the flow duration criteria. From the results, it is shown that "5 mm * the area of a target catchment" which is the current facility design capacity is valid for the drainage area with 20-30% impervious rate. In the 100% impervious catchment where LID facilities are typically installed, the design capacity to intercept stormwater of approximately 47 mm depth is required to reproduce natural flow duration curves. This means that about 11% of the target catchment area should be allocated as a bio-retention cell. However, the criteria of the design capacity and facility surface area should be set at the possible implementation conditions in reality, and site-specific hydrologic characteristics of a target catchment should be considered.
Purpose: Generally, aspirin is used as a protective agent against thrombogenic phenomenon after pulmonary valve replacement (PVR) using a bioprosthetic valve. However, the appropriate duration of aspirin use is unclear. We analyzed the impact of postoperative duration of aspirin use on the longevity of bioprosthetic pulmonary valves in patients who underwent repair for congenital heart diseases. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the clinical data of 137 patients who underwent PVR using a bioprosthetic valve between January 2000 and December 2003. Among these patients, 89 were included in our study and divided into groups I (${\leq}12$ months) and II (>12 months) according to duration of aspirin use. We analyzed echocardiographic data from 9 to 11 years after PVR. Pulmonary vale stenosis and regurgitation were classified as mild, moderate, or severe. Results: The 89 patients consisted of 53 males and 36 females. Their mean age was $14.3{\pm}8.9$ years (range, 2.6-48 years) and body weight was $37.6{\pm}14.7kg$ (range, 14-72 kg). The postoperative duration of aspirin use was $7.3{\pm}2.9$ months in group I and $32.8{\pm}28.4$ months in group II. However, no significant difference in sex ratio, age, body weight, type of bioprosthetic valve, and number of early redo-PVRs. In the comparison of echocardiographic data about 10 years later, no significant difference in pulmonary valve function was found. The overall freedom rate from redo-PVR at 10 years showed no significant difference (P=0.498). Conclusion: Our results indicated no benefit from long-term aspirin medication (>6 months) in patients who underwent PVR with a bioprosthetic valve.
