Study on the Viewers' Perception of Investigative Journalism Before and After Pandemic Using Big Data (빅데이터를 활용한 팬데믹 전후 탐사보도프로그램에 대한 시청자 인식연구)

  • This paper analyzes viewers' perception of investigative journalism before and after COVID-19, and examines the direction of investigative journalism using big data. Based on the previous research set as a social science model, the relationship between words related to big data TV current affairs programs and investigative journalism in this paper was investigated before and after the appearance of COVID-19. We visualized changes in viewers' perception of investigative journalism by analyzing text data obtained through the use of Textom, with TV current affairs programs and investigative journalism as keywords. Data was collected from 2017 to June 2022 and refined for analysis. We visualized connectivity centrality using Ucinet 6.0 and Netdraw, and clustered the number of keywords and their frequency using Concor analysis. Our study found a clear change in viewer perception before and after the pandemic. As an implication of this thesis, big data analysis was conducted with the investigative journalism as the main keyword, and the direction of the investigative journalism was presented based on the analysis. Furthermore, based on previous research, we suggest effective approaches for investigative journalism after the pandemic to better engage viewers.

  • In recent years, virtual reality (VR) technology has been widely used in many industrial fields, especially in the fields of medical treatment, games, film and television, to improve the interaction between medical teaching and practical treatment. On the gaming side, the production of virtual reality gaming screens and scenes became increasingly popular, greatly expanding the form of the visual experience. But VR is no longer confined to the health care, education and entertainment industries. During this time, the news media industry has also begun to integrate virtual reality into interviews and user interactions. This study aims to analyze the development of VR technology from the perspectives of immersive VR news experience, real reporting, and prospects, and analyze and think about the interactive participation of media users, the transformation of traditional media, and the upgrading of practitioners' roles.

The Effect of Augmented Reality Journalism on Immersion and Information Acquisition in Chinese Disaster and Sports News (AR 뉴스의 특성이 수용자의 몰입도 및 정보습득에 미치는 영향 - 중국의 재해, 스포츠 보도를 중심으로)

  • The application of Augmented Reality(AR) technology is visible in medical procedures, education, marketing, and journalism. By experimenting, this study examines how the evaluation of the three elements of augmented reality news contents(visual image, storytelling, interactivity) affects immersion and information acquisition. Specifically, a 2 (video technology: AR vs. general) × 2 (news type: disaster vs. sports) between-subject design was examined. Results showed that the evaluation of all three elements was higher when viewing AR news than when viewing general news. The level of immersion was higher when viewing AR news, and the evaluation of storytelling and interactivity had positive effect on the level of immersion regardless of the news types. However, the evaluation of visual images did not affect the level of immersion. Information acquisition was higher after viewing AR news, yet the effect of the evaluation of the three elements on information acquisition had not been found. Implication and discussion of the study were added in the end.

A Study on Sound Synchronized Out-Focusing Techniques for 3D Animation (음원 데이터를 활용한 3D 애니메이션 카메라 아웃포커싱 표현 연구)

  • The role of sound in producing 3D animation clip is one of the important factor to maximize the immersive effects of the scene. Especially interaction between video and sound makes the scene expressions more apparent, which is diversely applied in video production. One of these interaction techniques, the out-focussing technique is frequently used in both real video and 3D animation field. But in 3D animation, out-focussing is not easily implemented as in music videos or explosion scenes in real video shots. This paper analyzes the sound data to synchronize the depth of field with it. The novel out-focussing technique is proposed, where the object's field of depth is controlled by beat rhythm in the sound data.
