  • At these information age when the importance of news is of particular emphasis, the field of image-production for the news are being made rapid progressive by high-tech like multi-media, multi-channel digital system. Even experts who have engaged in the work of broadcasting in th field for a long time are perplexed with rapid development in Broadcasting equipments and expression techniques. The field of TV is characterized by the speed of change and the desire of viewers for new and interesting video images. The image expression system applying image line has ever existed as one of conventional image expression methods. Obsolete and old image expressions are paling into significance for viewers who want to access more information in a short time. but The change of image expression systems due to the progressive stream of time has forced existing imaginary to be changed constantly to accommodate the changing interests and expectations of the viewers. Therefore, in this treatise, we need a broad interpretation about the direction of this imaginary line for TV news image in that existing systems of image producing haven’t also been changed and adapted to the stream of time. In these days, image is defined as not only video, but also audio. also We need to reduce the confusion concerning the imaginary line and contribute to a correct understanding images of TV news for not only customers but also producer by extending and applying the concept of imaginary line to image producing.

Depth Measurement of Materials Attached to Cylinder Using Line Laser (라인 레이저를 이용한 원통 부착물의 심도 측정)

  • Line-laser beams are used for accurate measurement of 3D shape, which is robust to external illumination. For depth measurement, we project a line-laser beam across an object from the face and take an image of the beam on the object surface using a CCD camera at some angle with respect to the face. For shape measurement, we project parallel line-laser beams with narrow line to line distance. When a layer of thin materials attached to a cylinder is long narrow along its circumference, we can measure the shape of the layer with a small number of parallel line beams if we project line beams along the circumference of the cylinder. Measurement of the depth of the attached materials on a line-laser beam is based on the number of pixels between an imaginary line along the imaginary cylinder without the attached materials and the beam line along the materials attached to the cylinder. For this we need to localize the imaginary line in the captured image. In this paper, we model the shape of the line as an ellipse and localize the line with least square estimate. The proposed method results in smaller error (maximum 0.24mm) than a popular 3D depth camera (maximum 1mm).

Prediction of the alveolar bone level after the extraction of maxillary anterior teeth with severe periodontitis

  • Purpose: After extraction, the alveolar bone tends to undergo atrophy in three-dimensions. The amount of alveolar bone loss in the horizontal dimension has been reported to be greater than the amount of bone loss in the vertical dimension, and is most pronounced in the buccal aspect. The aim of this study was to monitor the predictive alveolar bone level following the extraction of anterior teeth seriously involved with advanced chronic periodontitis. Methods: This study included 25 patients with advanced chronic periodontitis, whose maxillary anterior teeth had been extracted due to extensive attachment loss more than one year before the study. Periapical radiographs were analyzed to assess the vertical level of alveolar bone surrounding the edentulous area. An imaginary line connecting the mesial and the distal ends of the alveolar crest facing the adjacent tooth was arbitrarily created. Several representative coordinates were established in the horizontal direction, and the vertical distance from the imaginary line to the alveolar crest was measured at each coordinate for each patient using image analysis software. Regression functions predicting the vertical level of the alveolar bone in the maxillary anterior edentulous area were identified for each patient. Results: The regression functions demonstrated a tendency to converge to parabolic shapes. The predicted maximum distance between the imaginary line and the alveolar bone calculated using the regression function was $1.43{\pm}0.65mm$. No significant differences were found between the expected and actual maximum distances. Likewise, the predicted and actual maximum horizontal distances did not show any significant differences. The distance from the alveolar bone crest to the imaginary lines was not influenced by the mesio-distal spans of the edentulous area. Conclusions: After extraction, the vertical level of the alveolar ridge increased to become closer to the reference line connecting the mesial and distal alveolar crests.

  • A lot of manufacturing knowledge and method have applied to increase manufacturing efficiency in industry field. DES(Discrete Event Simulation) is one of solution to deal with manufacturing problems in factory. Beginning of research, old maintenance system of KNR ( Korea National Railroad) and its technical problems are basically investigated. KNR has maintained railway vehicle with their own solution based on experience. Very advanced railway vehicles such as KTX (Korea Train Express) and TTX(Tilting Train Express) will be difficult to maintain with their old maintenance method. In order to apply knowledge of DES, maintenance field of railway must be considered. Imaginary maintenance machine are selected to variable of DES. Maintenance capability of each machine will be evaluated base on imaginary data from imaginary machine. The machine could be very expensive as well as difficult to replace. Target of research is minimization of number of machine in railway workshop. So basic knowledge of discrete event simulation is introduced. Then five essential stages of discrete event simulation are provided. Each maintenance case defined as event. Each event is discrete and simulated base on different case such as one maintenance line with one machine and one maintenance line with two machines in railway workshop. simple maintenance method, discrete event simulation, will be come out very powerful in complicate maintenance system and will be helpful to reduce maintenance cost as well as maintenance labor.

Left right discrimination performance improvement for the line array sonar system (선 배열 소나 시스템을 위한 좌 우 구분 성능 개선 기법)

  • This paper proposes a method to improve the left right discrimination performance by eliminating the imaginary target based on the frequency features of the beam pattern for bow array. The beamwidth of the imaginary target is wider than that of the real target. If an azimuth axis is considered as a time axis, the real and the imaginary targets can be assumed as high and low frequencies, respectively. To eliminate the imaginary target which has a low frequency component, we design a cut-off frequency of the High Pass Filter (HPF) using the back-lobe imaginary beamwidth. The real target is estimated by eliminating the imaginary target by applying HPF to the entire power of the beamformer output. Computer simulations show that the proposed method can increase the left right discrimination performance above 8 dB on average.

  • An Obstacle Avoidance System(OAS) of Underwater Vehicle(UV) in diving and steering plane is investigated. The concept of Imaginary Reference Line(IRL), which acts as the seabed in the diving plane, is introduced to apply the diving plane avoidance algorithm to the steering plane algorithm. Furthermore, the distance to the obstacle and the slope information of the obstacle are used for more efficient and safer avoidance. As for the control algorithm, the sliding mode controller is adopted to consider the nonlinearity of the equations of motion and to get the robustness of the designed system. To verify the obstacle avoidance ability of the designed system, numerical simulations are carried out on the cases of some presumed three-dimensional obstacles. The effects of the sonar and the clearance factor used in avoidance algorithm are also investigated. Through these, it is found that the designed avoidance system can successfully cope with various obstacles and the detection range of sonar is proven to bea significant parameter to the performance of the avoidance.

  • This paper announces that, with the emergence of the imaginary university for the remote education, which is based on Web due to the education change, the introduction of the Multimedia contents system using computers and the Internet becomes serious. For this reason, this paper suggests search system for managing the imaginary university documents. For the success of the document management of the imaginary university, document search is regarded as an important issue as well as the executive support and search system of the document management.   • The inverse scattering problem is investigated for some second order differential equation with a nonlinear spectral parameter in the boundary condition on the half line [0, $\infty$). In the present paper the coefficient of spectral parameter is not a pure imaginary number and the boundary value problem is not selfadjoint. We define the scattering data of the problem, derive the main integral equation and show that the potential is uniquely recovered.

Determination of stress state in chip formation zone by central slip-line field

  • Stress state of chip formation zone is one of the main problems in metal cutting mechanics. In two-dimensional case this process is usually considered as consistent shears of work material along single of several shear surfaces. separating chip from workpiece. These shear planes are assumed to be trajectories of maximum shear stress forming corresponding slip-line field. This paper suggests new approach to the constriction of slip-line field, which Implies uniform compression in chip formation zone. On the base of given model it has been found that imaginary shear line in orthogonal cutting is close to the trajectory of maximum normal stress and the problem about its determination have been considered. It has been shown that there is a second central slip-line field inside chip, which corresponds well to experimental data about stress distribution on tool rake face and tool-chip contact length. The suggested model could be useful in solution of various problems of machining.

  • This paper presents a distance relaying algorithm based on the Discrete Fourier Transform(DFT) for elimination of DC-Offset. When the DFT is applied to current signal. the real and imaginary parts of fundamental component consist of fundamental component itself and DC-Offset. The DC-Offset is calculated by four consecutive values of the imaginary components, so that the fundamental component can be accurately estimated. Performance evaluation is presented for A-phase ground faults on 154kV 80km overhead transmission line. The proposed algorithm is inspected by software simulation and hardware simulation.
