GeoNet : Web-based Remotely Sensed Image Processing System

  • Previous technology of remote sensing was focused on analyzing raster image and gaining information through image processing. But now it has extended to diverse fields like automatic map generation, material exploitation or monitoring environmental changes with effort to utilizing practical usage. And with rapid expansion of information exchange on Internet and high-speed network, the demand of public which want to utilize remotely sensed image has been increased. This makes growth of service on acquisition and processing remotely sensed image. GeoNet is a Java-based remotely sensed image processing system. It is based on Java object-oriented paradigm and features cross-platform, web-based execution and extensibility to client/server remotely sensed image processing model. Remotely sensed image processing software made by Java programming language can suggest alternatives to meet readily demand on remotely sensed image processing in proportion to increase of remotely sensed data. In this paper, we introduce GeoNet and explain its architecture.

재난 감시를 위한 적외선 열화상 처리 시스템의 구현 (Implementation of Infrared Thermal Image Processing System for Disaster Monitoring)

  • 본 논문은 재난 감시를 위한 디지털 미디어 프로세서 기반의 적외선 열화상 처리 시스템의 설계 및 구현에 대하여 기술한다. 디지털 열화상 처리 보드는 DM642 디지털 미디어 프로세서와 비디오 인코더, 비디오 디코더 상용 칩을 기반으로 설계하고 구현하였다. 또한, 재난 감시 기능은 적외선 열화상의 온도분포를 분석하고 화재발생과 같은 재난상황을 감시하는 알고리즘을 구현하였으며, 적외선 열화상 입력은 $320\;{\times}\;240\;{\mu}$-bolometer 타입의 적외선 열화상 카메라를 사용하였다. 구현된 시제품의 시험 평가 결과, 10 프레임/초의 처리 속도로 요구되는 적외선 열화상 분석과 화재 검출 기능이 잘 동작 하였으며 구현 시스템의 실용성을 확인하였다.

  • 예전의 영상처리 장비는 독립적으로 구현이 되었다고 하여도 단순히 디스플레이만 하는 정도이지만 현재 여러 가지 칩들의 발전으로 인한 그 응용에 있어 활용 범위가 다양해졌다. 본 연구에서는 아날로그 영상신호를 디지털로 변환하여 PC 없이 독립적으로 영상 데이터를 처리하는 시스템을 설계한다. 가상의 움직임에 따라 시뮬레이터를 제어하는 모션 벡터 추출기 및 시뮬레이터 제어기를 설계하고, 추출된 모션벡터를 이용하여 가상현실 시뮬레이터를 구동한다.

  • In dentistry. RadioVisioGraphy was introduced as a first electronic dental x-ray imaging modality in 1989. Thereafter. many types of direct digital radiographic system have been produced in the last decade. They are based either on charge-coupled device(CCD) or on storage phosphor technology. In addition. new types of digital radiographic system using amorphous selenium. image intensifier etc. are under development. Advantages of digital radiographic system are elimination of chemical processing, reduction in radiation dose. image processing, computer storage. electronic transfer of images and so on. Image processing includes image enhancement. image reconstruction. digital subtraction, etc. Especially digital subtraction and reconstruction can be applied in many aspects of clinical practice and research. Electronic transfer of images enables filmless dental hospital and teleradiology/teledentistry system. Since the first image management and communications system(IMACS) for dentomaxillofacial radiology was reported in 1992. IMACS in dental hospital has been increasing. Meanwhile. researches about computer-assisted diagnosis, such as structural analysis of bone trabecular patterns of mandible. feature extraction, automated identification of normal landmarks on cephalometric radiograph and automated image analysis for caries or periodontitis. have been performed actively in the last decade. Further developments in digital radiographic imaging modalities. image transmission system. imaging processing and automated analysis software will change the traditional clinical dental practice in the 21st century.

Cloud-based Satellite Image Processing Service by Open Source Stack: A KARI Case

  • In recent, cloud computing paradigm and open source as a huge trend in the Information Communication Technology (ICT) are widely applied, being closely interrelated to each other in the various applications. The integrated services by both technologies is generally regarded as one of a prospective web-based business models impacting the concerned industries. In spite of progressing those technologies, there are a few application cases in the geo-based application domains. The purpose of this study is to develop a cloud-based service system for satellite image processing based on the pure and full open source. On the OpenStack, cloud computing open source, virtual servers for system management by open source stack and image processing functionalities provided by OTB have been built or constructed. In this stage, practical image processing functions for KOMPSAT within this service system are thresholding segmentation, pan-sharpening with multi-resolution image sets, change detection with paired image sets. This is the first case in which a government-supporting space science institution provides cloud-based services for satellite image processing functionalities based on pure open source stack. It is expected that this implemented system can expand with further image processing algorithms using public and open data sets.

이동로봇을 위한 구조광 영상기반 거리측정 (Distance Measurement Based on Structured Light Image for Mobile Robots)

  • In this paper, we address an active ranging system based on laser structured light image for mobile robot application. Since the burdensome correspondence problem is avoidable, the structured light image processing has efficient computation in comparison with the conventional stereo image processing. By using a cylindrical lens in the laser generation, it is possible to convert a point laser into a stripe laser without motorized scan in the proposed system. In order to achieve robustness against environmental illumination noise, we propose an efficient integro-differential image processing algorithm. The proposed system has embedded image processing module and transmits distance data to reduce the computational burden in main control system.

  • Pentagraphs are used to supply electric power to train via trolley lines. The higher train speed is, the higher voltage and current levels 8u. Since electric power is supplied with slinding contact, localized abrasion is inevitable. It is difficult and dangerous to measure their shape manually. Measurement system of pentagraph slider with ultrasonic processing has been reported. In this paper, measurement system with image processing is proposed. The system consists of CCD cameras, image grabber board, and PC operated on Windows'95. Image processing algorithms are presented and some results are illustrated.

  • 용접부 내에 존재하는 결함의 형태, 위치, 크기 등의 정보를 정량적으로 파악하기 위하여 초음파 탐상 검사가 많이 활용되는데, 최근 들어 용접부의 결함 탐상을 위해, 검사과정을 기계적 스캐너로 자동화한 자동 초음파 탐상 시스템이 많은 산업 분야에서 활용되고 있고, 특히 배관 용접부의 건전성 평가를 위한 비파괴안전진단에서 그 활용 폭이 커지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 배관 용접부의 자동 초음파 검사를 위한 알고리즘 구현과 결함 영상을 보정하여 주는 결함영상 처리 시스템을 설계 및 구현하였다. 적용된 기법으로는 초음파 A-Scan 압축 알고리즘, Synthetic Aperture Focusing 알고리즘, 결함영상증폭 알고리즘과 이와 관련된 소프트웨어 설계 및 구현에 대하여 논한다.

영상 처리 방법을 이용한 구조물의 큰 변위 저주파 진동 계측 (Measurement of Large-amplitude and Low-frequency Vibrations of Structures Using the Image Processing Method)

  • This paper is concerned with the measurement of low-frequency vibrations of structures using the image processing method. To measure the vibrations visually, the measurement system consists of a camera, an image grabber board, and a computer. The specific target installed on the structure is used to calculate the vibration of structure. The captured image is then converted into a pixel-based data and then analyzed numerically. The limitation of the system depends on the image capturing speed and the size of image. In this paper, we propose the methodology for the vibration measurement using the image processing method. The method enables us to measure the displacement directly without any contact. The current resolution of the vibration measurement is limited to sub centimeter scale. However, the frequency bandwidth and resolution can be enhanced by a high-speed and high-resolution image processing system.

  • The purpose of this paper is the development of an automated measurement system for micro spring based on the digital image processing technique. This micro spring can be used in various engineering applications such as filament, load bearing springs, hard disk suspension and many others. Main functionality of the micro spring inspection system is to measure the representative pitch of the micro spring. The derivative operators are used for edge detection in gray level image. Measurement system developed in this paper consisted of new auto feeding mechanism to take advantage of air pressure. In the process of development of the micro spring inspection system based on the image processing and analysis, strong background technology and know-how have been accumulated to measure micro mechanical parts.
