  • Steam leakage is one of the major issues for the structural fracture of pipes of nuclear power plants. Therefore a method to inspect a large area of piping systems quickly and accurately is needed. Recently, the research detecting the steam leakage by using camera image is introduced. However, this method has a disadvantage. If a camera oscillates, it cannot detect a steam leakage exactly. In this paper, the technique that reduces the error due to a camera shaking is proposed. To verify the proposed method, we have performed the experiments for the oil leakage experiments. The results show that the technique can calibrate the error due to camera shaking.

  • Recently, the communication between LED array and camera, called Visual-MIMO, is under active research and we expect the maximization of application to the vehicle as well as smart-phone. In this paper, we improve the BER performance of Visual-MIMO system by using the brightness information of a received image. We also suggest the error correction method to minimize the error due to Inter-Symbol-Interference. The performance analysis according to the noise and distance variation will verify the validity of our proposed method including results through simulation and hardware experiment.

  • In monitor-based AR(Augmented Reality) systems, it is required to know the position and direction of a camera in order to combine real images from a camera with virtual images exactly_ Because a tracker is parted from a camera, however, there is a registration error caused by the inconsistency of a tracker with a camera. In this paper, we describe the error correction method using genetic algorithm. This method looks for the position and direction of a camera using genetic algorithm and solves the error correction matrix of it. And then it is registered of the real images and the revised virtual image. It has an effect on the error correction caused by the misalignment of a tracker with a camera in complex AR systems.

  • It is reasonable to use the stereo vision and image processing technique to digitize 3D coordinates of grid points and to evaluate surface strains on a sheet metal parts. However this method has its intrinsic problems such as the difficulty in enhancement of bad images inevitable error due to digital image resolution of camera and frame grabber unreliability of strains and thickness evaluated from coarse grid on the corner area with large curvature and the limitation of the area that can be measured at a time. Therefore it is still hard to measure strain distribution over the entire surface of a medium,- or large-sized stamped part at a time even by using an automated strain measurement system. In this study the curvature correction algorithm based on the grid refinement and the geometry assembling algorithm based on the global error minimization (GEM) scheme are suggested. Several applications are presented to show the reliability and efficiency of these algorithms.

  • In this paper, a method for camera position estimation in gaster using elechoendoscopic image sequence is proposed. In order to obtain proper image sequences, the gaster in divided into three sections. It is presented that camera position modeling for 3D information extraction and image distortion due to the endoscopic lenses is corrected. The feature points are represented with respect to the reference coordinate system belpw 10 percents error rate. The faster distortion correction algorithm is proposed in this paper. This algorithm uses error table which is faster than coordinate transform method using n-th order polynomials.

  • Objective: To investigate the efficacy of motion-correction algorithm (MCA) in improving coronary artery image quality and measurement accuracy using an anthropomorphic dynamic heart phantom and 256-detector row computed tomography (CT) scanner. Materials and Methods: An anthropomorphic dynamic heart phantom was scanned under a static condition and under heart rate (HR) simulation of 50-120 beats per minute (bpm), and the obtained images were reconstructed using conventional algorithm (CA) and MCA. We compared the subjective image quality of coronary arteries using a four-point scale (1, excellent; 2, good; 3, fair; 4, poor) and measurement accuracy using measurement errors of the minimal luminal diameter (MLD) and minimal luminal area (MLA). Results: Compared with CA, MCA significantly improved the subjective image quality at HRs of 110 bpm (1.3 ± 0.3 vs. 1.9 ± 0.8, p = 0.003) and 120 bpm (1.7 ± 0.7 vs. 2.3 ± 0.6, p = 0.006). The measurement error of MLD significantly decreased on using MCA at 110 bpm (11.7 ± 5.9% vs. 18.4 ± 9.4%, p = 0.013) and 120 bpm (10.0 ± 7.3% vs. 25.0 ± 16.5%, p = 0.013). The measurement error of the MLA was also reduced using MCA at 110 bpm (19.2 ± 28.1% vs. 26.4 ± 21.6%, p = 0.028) and 120 bpm (17.9 ± 17.7% vs. 34.8 ± 19.6%, p = 0.018). Conclusion: Motion-correction algorithm can improve the coronary artery image quality and measurement accuracy at a high HR using an anthropomorphic dynamic heart phantom and 256-detector row CT scanner.

  • This paper presents the measurement and correction of PCB alignment errors for PCB-manufacturing machines. The conventional PCB-manufacturing machine doesn't have enough accuracy to accommodate the demand for high-resolution circuit pattern and high-density mounting capacity of electronic chips. It is because of alignment errors of PCB loaded to the PCB-manufacturing machine. Therefore, this study focuses on the development of the system which is able to measure and correct alignment errors whit high-accuracy. An automatic optical inspection part measures the PCB alignment error using two cameras, and the high-accuracy 3-axis stage makes correct of these error. The operating system is run in the environment of Window 98 (or NT). Finally we implemented this system to PCB screen printer and PCB exposure system.

  • We propose a subpixel scale elemental image generation method to correct the errors created by finite display pixel size in integral imaging. In this paper, two errors are mainly discussed: pickup-and-display mismatch error and mismatch error between pixel pitch and lens pitch. The proposed method considers the relative positions between lenses and pixels in subpixel scale. Our proposed pickup method calculates the position parameters, generates an elemental image with pixels completely inside the lens, and generates an elemental image with border pixels using a weighted sum method. Appropriate experiments are presented to verify the validity of the proposed method.

  • Geometric transform of an image is used to image correction. Ridid-Body, Simlilary transform, etc, many correction methods are exist in computer vision. Image warping is used to correction for image with perspective. To image warping I extracted 4 feature point about warping position. But It is difficult to extract 4 points accurately and warping result with these point is occurs error over 3 or 4 pixel at warping position. So I used template matching to extract 4 points correctly and selected repeatedly 2 points of 4 points because to confirm result correctly. positions of 2 points are changed in near of 3 by 3 pixel and warped each change. So I selected optimal 4 points with a error of less than 1 pixel and finally, warped image using optimal points. For this way is possible to obtain optimum result.

  • This study was carried out to effectively perform relative color correction for high-resolution aerial ortho image. For this study, relative geometrical error between adjacent images was analyzed. The block sum method is proposed to reduce the relative geometrical error. We used the regression coefficients determined based on the block sum size to perform the color correction. As a result, it was confirmed that the relative color correction was visually performed well. Quantitative analysis was performed through histogram similarity analysis. It is proved that block sum method is useful for relative color correction. Particularly, the block sum size was very important to correct color based on the amount of relative geometrical error.
