  • This paper suggests a navigation information display system that is based on augmented reality technology. A navigator always has to confirm the information from marine electronic navigation devices and then compare it with the view of targets outside the windows. This "head down" posture causes discomfort and sometimes near accidents such as collisions or missing objects, because he or she cannot keep an eye on the front view of the windows. Augmented reality can display both virtual and real information in a single display. Therefore, we attempted to adapt AR technology to assist navigators. To analyze the outside view of the bridge window, various computer image processing techniques are required because the sea surface has many noises that disturb computer image processing for object detection, such as waves, wakes, light reflection, and so on. In this study, we investigated an analysis module to extract navigational information from images that are captured by a CCTV camera, and we validated our prototype.

  • Automatic quality inspection by computer vision can be applied and give a solution to the pharmaceutical industry field. Pharmaceutical capsule can be easily affected by flaws like dents, cracks, holes, etc. In order to solve the quality inspection problem, it is required computationally efficient image processing technique like thresholding, boundary edge detection and segmentation and some automated systems are available but they are very expensive to use. In this paper, we have developed a dented capsule image processing technique using edge-based image segmentation, TLS(Total Least Squares) curve fitting technique and adopted low cost camera module for capsule image capturing. We have tested and evaluated the accuracy, training and testing time of the classification recognition algorithms like PCA(Principal Component Analysis), ICA(Independent Component Analysis) and SVM(Support Vector Machine) to show the performance. With the result, PCA, ICA has low accuracy, but SVM has good accuracy to use for classifying the dented capsule.

  • In this paper, we analyzed the electrical characteristics with Micro-cracks in Photovoltaic module. Micro cracks are increasing the breakage risk over the whole value chine from the wafer to the finished module, because the wafer or cell is exposed to mechanical stress. And The solar cells have to with stand the stress under out door operation in the finished module. Here the mechanical stress is induced by temperature changes and mechanical loads from wind and snow. So, we experimentally analyze the direct impact of micro-cracks on the module power and the consequences after artificial aging. The first step, we made micro-cracks in PV module by mechanical load test according to IEC 61215. Next, PV modules applied the thermal cycling test, because micro-cracks accelerated aging by thermal cycling test, according to IEC61215. Before every test, we checked output and EL image of PV module. As the result of first step, we detected little power loss(0.9%). But after thermal cycling test increased power loss about 3.2%.

An Iris Diagnosis System using Color Iris Images (칼라 홍채영상을 이용한 홍채진단시스템)

  • Iris diagnosis is an alternative medicine technique whose proponents believe that patterns, colors, and other characteristics of the iris can be examined to determine information about a patient's systemic health. However, because most of previous studies only find a sign pattern in a gray iris image, they are not enough to be used for a iris diagnosis system. In this paper, we developed an iris diagnosis system based on a color image processing and iris medical information stored in database. The system includes four modules : input module with an iris camera, iris signs extraction module, medical database, output module with printing. Based on a color image processing approach, this paper presents the extraction algorithms of 7 major iris signs and correction manually for improving the accuracy of analysis. We can use the iridology and patient's health DB in the stage of signs analysis. Compared with the existing system, the developed system can be applied to an iris diagnosis system since it provides various additional functions.

  • This paper proposes the OOPP(Optimized Online Portfolio Platform) design for the job seekers to search for the job competency necessary for employment and to write and manage portfolio online efficiently. The OOPP consists of three modules. First, JDCM(Job Data Collection Module) stores the help-wanted advertisements of job information sites in a spreadsheet. Second, CSM(Competency Statistical Model) classifies core competencies for each job by text-mining the collected help-wanted ads. Third, OBBM(Optimize Browser Behavior Module) makes users to look up data rapidly by improving the processing speed of a browser. In addition, The OBBM consists of the PSES(Parallel Search Engine Sub-Module) optimizing the computation of a Search Engine and the OILS(Optimized Image Loading Sub-Module) optimizing the loading of image text, etc. The performance analysis of the CSM shows that there is little difference in accuracy between the CSM and the actual advertisement because its data accuracy is 99.4~100%. If Browser optimization is done by using the OBBM, working time is reduced by about 68.37%. Therefore, the OOPP makes users look up the analyzed result in the web page rapidly by analyzing the help-wanted ads. of job information sites accurately.

  • This paper introduces a blackboard system which extracts imbedded road and building structures irom aerial photograph images. The role of three major component(blackboard, knowledge source, and control module)in blackboard system will be illustrated in terms of knowledge representation and control strategies. The hypothesis on a blackboard will be organized in a hierarchical form, the knowledge sources which generate hypothesis and verify them will be shown in detail, and the control module will describe how the knowledge sources can dervie solutions. Especially this paper shows that searching image strutures can be greatly simplified by the use of a mapping image.

  • Tolerance analysis is one of the most important processes to improve the image quality of products. High resolution camera module for mobile phones needs precision assembly technology since the module becomes smaller and thinner. This paper will focus on the unit tolerance and the assembly tolerance which can affect the performance of the module. Lens shading and relative illumination were used to evaluate the optical axis scatter for each component on camera and estimate the assembly yield rate based on the evaluation result. A program was developed to analyze the impact on optical axis by each module, then to optimize the dimensions and tolerance for reducing the scatter of optical axis assembly. Through the simulation, though a rate of relative illumination was declined in where optical axis is displaced $100{\mu}m$ from sensor center, MTF performance is not influenced by increasing in optical axis displacement. It was seen that assembly yield was improved in result of simulation after correcting optical axis tolerance.

Analysis and Evaluation of Slanted-edge-based Modulation Transfer Function and Focus Measurements for Optimal Assembly of Imaging Modules in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy

  • We explored a method to evaluate imaging performance for the optimal assembly of an endoscopic miniature lens and a sensor constituting an imaging module at the distal end of gastrointestinal endoscopy. For the assembly of the imaging module, the image sensor was precisely located at the focal plane when collimated light passed through the endoscopic lens. As another method, the distance between the lens and sensor was adjusted to obtain the highest focus index from images measured the star chart of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard at various positions. We analyzed the slanted-edge modulation transfer function (MTF), corresponding depth of field, and number of line pairs for MTF 50% and 20% at each working distance within the range of 5-100 mm for imaging modules assembled in different ways. Assembly conditions of the imaging module with better MTF performance were defined for each working distance range of 5-30 mm and 30-100 mm, respectively. In addition to the MTF performance, the focus index of each assembled module was also compared. In summary, we examined the performance of imaging modules assembled with different methods within the suggested working distance and tried to establish the optimal assembly protocol.

  • Recently, a 4-col 7-row LED Screen that provides various information of major roads and local governments has been installed and operated. However, due to deterioration due to changes in temperature and humidity, deterioration due to static electricity, and mechanical stress, partial module failure of the display may occur, which is a major cause of missing information of vitally given to citizens. However, there have been frequent cases where the 4-col and 7-row LED Screen that have failed due to reasons such as installed location where the signboards are installed on the road and outdoor, the lack of monitoring means at all times, and the lack of manpower is often neglected for a long time. Following this flow, this paper proposes a method to detect defective modules by analyzing the images collected through the camera fixed to the front part of the LED display.

  • In order to enhance a model's capability for detecting facial expressions, this research suggests a pipeline that makes use of the GradCAM component. The patching module and the pseudo-labeling module make up the pipeline. The patching component takes the original face image and divides it into four equal parts. These parts are then each input into a 2Dconvolutional layer to produce a feature vector. Each picture segment is assigned a weight token using GradCAM in the pseudo-labeling module, and this token is then merged with the feature vector using principal component analysis. A convolutional neural network based on transfer learning technique is then utilized to extract the deep features. This technique applied on a public dataset MMI and achieved a validation accuracy of 96.06% which is showing the effectiveness of our method.
