An Analysis of Classroom Illuminance with Simulation Program end Improvement of Classroom Illumination (시뮬레이션 프로그램을 활용한 교실조도 분식 및 개선안)

  • The actual conditions of school illumination was investigated. The illumination state was classified by the number of installed luminaires per 1 classroom. The illuminance was measured and analyzed. The work surface illuminance was up to the standard, but the illuminance on blackboard was below standard when there was no local lighting. As a result of conducting a simulation based on the measurement of the reflection factors of the classroom finishing materials and lamp replacement and lamp cleaning, nine luminaires for general lighting and local lighting for the blackboard were required, and a design considering illumination maintenance was called for.

  • In this study, the Relux program was simulated for optimum conditions of daylight and artificial light sources(LED) in the glass greenhouse. From the results of daylight simulation, the optimum design conditions for the glass greenhouse were established which were 90[o] installation angle and higher transmittance. In this case of growing lettuce in the glass greenhouse, the control method of the only artificial light source was compared that of daylight and LED. The result of illumination simulation produced a power consumption effect of 37.2[%] in the summer and 51.9[%] in the winter, respectively. From this results, we propose to suggest that we grow the lettuce in the energy saving glass greenhouse.

  • For making high-functional illumination environment and pleasantness to human beings, it is needed to analyze optical characteristics from lightsource as well as to analyze and examine emotional characteristics which respond to optical characteristics systematically. Also, it is Possible to classify lightsource according to function and use based on optical and emotional characteristics systematically and these results can be applied to practical data for professional illumination design field. The aim of this study is to develop technique for evaluating sensibility as well as to accumulate sensibility database through measuring and evaluating emotional reaction to optical characteristics from lightsource. Final aim of this study is to develop simulation and evaluation technique for interior illumination environment, the outline of this paper : 1) operating simulator for various illumination environment 2) developing evaluation methodology for evaluating illumination environment 3) preparing sensibility index through evaluation and analysis The process of this study is as follows. 1) Developing optical evaluation item of lightsource 2) Developing emotional evaluation item of lightsource 3). Analyzing, correlation between optical evaluation item and emotional eveluation item 4) Classifying and selecting object for evaluation 5) Optical measuring and evaluating for lightsource 6) Operating Simulator for illumination environment 7) Emontional measuring and evaluating lightsource and color 8) Developing estimative formula and sensibility index of emotional reaction The results of this study are as follows. 1. Simulator is operated for various illumination environment, and it is proved to be applicable to actual environment. 2. Evaluation and Analysis Techniques is developed for emotional measurement about illumination environment. 3. Estimative formula and sensibility index are prepared, which can estimate the characteristic of lightsource and emotional reaction to interior color

  • Precision screws have a wide range of industrial applications such as electrical and automotive products. To produce screw threads with high precision, not only high precision manufacturing technology but also reliable measurement technology is required. Machine vision systems have been used in the automatic inspection of screw threads based on backlight illumination, which cannot detect defects on the thread surface. Recently, an omnidirectional inspection system for screw threads was developed to obtain $360^{\circ}$ images of screws, based on front light illumination. In this study, the illumination design for the omnidirectional inspection system was modified by adding a light shield to improve the image uniformity. Optical simulation for various shield designs was performed to analyze image uniformity of the obtained images. The simulation results were analyzed statistically using response surface method, from which optical performance of the omnidirectional inspection system could be optimized in terms of image quality and uniformity.

  • In this paper, we present a simulation model for artificially generated winds which affect relatively restricted regions in comparison with natural winds. We first propose an artificial wind propagation model, and then propose an efficient way of calculating the effect of this wind model in the simulation environment. Through showing that our wind force calculation equation is similar to the typical intensity equation for illumination models, we can calculate the wind force indirectly by using the intensity equations for spotlights, and hence we can reduce the simulation time. Our method shows real-time capabilities, and thus can be used various real-time applications including computer games, virtual environments, etc.

  • The visual environment in an educational building, apart from providing the comfortable seeing conditions needed for the performance of a wide variety of work tasks, must also satisfy the psychological and emotional needs of learners. This paper presents study on actual illumination environment of college and comparison of economical efficiency in order to figure out illumination problems. Furthermore, it attempts to suggest an optimum design of lecture room illumination through computer simulation. We try to evaluate economical efficiency of lighting design in lecture room under the illumination plan which is based on illumination maintenance and uniformity ratio that KS. illumination standard sets.

  • A solar cell is primary parts to produce electrical energy from the Sun. And, we can utilize those solar cells as a power generation system in home, factory, and so on. In order to make proper power, the solar cells are configured in series and parallel lay down. In condition of uniform illumination, the solar array will produce an enough power by photovoltaic effects from the solar cells. In case of non-uniform illumination on the solar cells, the power will be dramatically decreased compared to design. Fortunately, there were so many research outputs regarding the illumination effects on solar array. In this work, we tried to find out the non-uniform effects on unit CPV solar cell, because there were no research outputs for unit CPV solar cell considering illumination. The CPV solar cell was used in CPV system to make a power by the Sun. We chosen the triple junction solar cell of GaAsInP2Ge for simulation, which has a 30 % of conversion efficiency. By simulation, we obtained the output performance of CPV solar cells in condition of various illumination by using Hamming Window function. Its performance was degraded by 10 % to 50 % depending illumination conditions.

  • Solar-sharing, which is an agricultural photovoltaic system installing solar panels on the upper part of crop growing field, has especially drawn attention. Because paddy fields for cultivating crops are large flat areas, there have been various attempts to utilize solar energy for solar photovoltaic as well as growth of crops in agriculture. Solar-sharing was first proposed in Japan, and has been actively studied for optimization and practical uses. The domestic climate differs from the climate conditions in which the solar-sharing has been widely studied, therefore, it is required to develop the solar-sharing technology suitable for the domestic climate. In this study, a simulation model was developed to analyze the change of solar radiation resulted from the solar-sharing installation. Monthly solar illumination intensity and the change of illumination intensity according to the various conditions of solar panel installation were simulated. The results of monthly illumination analysis differed by altitude of the sun, which was related to season. In addition, it was analyzed that the monthly illumination decreased by up to 42% due to solar-sharing. Accordingly, it is recommended that solar-sharing should be installed as a way to maximize the efficiency of solar photovoltaic system while minimizing the decrease in solar radiation reaching the crops.

  • A configuration of illumination for high-speed color document scanner has been proposed utilizing white light emitting diode and transparent plastic lightguide. The design of illumination system including lightguide for high optical efficiency and uniform image quality is performed based on a simulation using ray-tracing method. The device characteristics are also experimentally evaluated in terms of illumination distribution against longitudinal and transverse direction on document plane. Uniform illumination distribution about 85% of in longitudinal and transverse direction is realized by control of mechanical dimension and position of lightguide.
