  • Geum-Won dynasty is the era which totalized the every medical attainments of before Song dynasty and appeared some medical practioners who found new medical theory based upon this, and is important time for various developments of the oriental medical theory. At this time of the era, the representative practioners are called the four noted physician of Geum-Won dynasty. Jang Won-So who influenced the formation of the theory of the four noted physcian of Geum-Won dynasty, originated new theory by joining the theory of "Nae-Gyung" with his own medical experience. The results can be summarized as follows after studying his life and idea of medicine. 1. Jang Won-So, courtesy name is Gyeol-Go, came from Yeog-Joo and it is unknown that when he was born and dead, but he lived in 11C. At 27, after failed in a Jin-Sa examination, he started medical study, and widely spreaded his medical art by healing the Yoo Wan-So's Sang-Han disease. 2. There are many Jang Won-So's writings, such as "Eui-Hag-Gye-Won" which is the condensation of his idea of medicine, "Jin-Joo-Nang" which is greatly contributed to development of Herbology, "Jang-Boo-Pyo-Bon-Han-Yeol-Heo-Sil-Yong-Yag-Sig" which is the sample of Jang-Boo-Byun-Jeung-Lon-Chi, and "Yag-Joo-Nan-Gyung" "Gyeol-Go-Ga-Jin" "Gyeol-Go-Joo-Sug-Hwa-Mag-Gyeol" "Gyeol-Go-Bon-Cho" "San-Yog-Bo-Sang-Bang" which are known do not existing. 3. Jang Won-So's study about Jang-Boo-Byun-Jeung was influenced by "Nae-Gyung" "Jung-Jang-Gyung" "So-A-Yag-Jeung-Jig-Gyeol" etc. and outline by Han-Yeol-Heo-Sil and the change and prognosis of the state of disease can be decided by Saeng-Sa-Yeog-Soon, so he contribute to development of lang-Boo-Byun-Jeung-Lon-Chi of posterity. 4. Jang Won-So succeeded and develope the theory of the herbs of Oh-Jang-Go-Yog-Bo-Sa and about Ki-Mi-Seung-Gang-Boo-Chim etc. appeared on "Nae-Gyung", especially invented such as Kwi-Gyung-Lon, In-Gyeung-Bo-Sa-Seol, Jang Boo-Pyo-Bon-Yag-Sig and he enriched the content of pharmacological theory, so he motivated various development of herbalogical theory. 5. Jang Won-So's idea of On-Yang-Bi-Wi directly influence Lee Go's assertion of Bi-Wi-Lon, idea of Go-Geum-I-Gue-Seol presented theological basis of posterior medical practioners formation of prescription, so the way of drug usage greatly developed. 6. Jang Won-So's theory of the lang-Boo-Byun-Jeung and herbology directly influenced to Lee Go, Wang Ho-Go, Na Chen-Ik, lang Byeok etc. so he became the father of Yeog-Soo class and indirectly influenced to Seol Gi, Jo Hen-Ga, lang Gae-Bin, Lee Jung-Jae etc. of Myeng dynasty, so the On-Bo class has been formed. Like this, because, his idea of medicine developed at various aspect and greatly influenced to posterity, Lee Si-Jin said "Since the emergency of "Nae-Gyung", Jang Won-So is the only man who greatly enhance medical principle.", so it is clear that this is not unfounded expression at all.

  • The studies were conducted to investigate the combined effects of several combined preparation of crude drugs and mitomycin C(MMC). The combined effects on the proliferation of Molt-4 cells and activation of human lymphocytes were estimated by MTT colorimetric assays. The drugs itself enhanced the proliferation of Molt-4, but the inhibitory action of MMC was not affected by the combined treatment of the drugs and MMC. Among 9 kinds of the drugs, Sip Jeon Dae Bo Tang(SDT), Saeng Maek San(SMS) and Kwi Bi Tang(KBT) did not inhibit the action of MMC, but activated lymphocytes. When the mice were treated by MMC, the number of leukocytes was decreased significantly at the 1st day, but recovered at the 7th day. In the groups of MMC treated with SDT or KBT, the number of leukocytes was increased significantly than the group of MMC treated only at the 3rd day. The combined treatment of SDT, SMS and MMC retained the body weight of mice at the level of normal mice. The SDT, SMS and KBT did not change the number of plaque forming cells(PFC) and the proliferation of T cells. The combined treatment of SDT and MMC increased the number of PFC significantly than the MMC treated group. The combined treatment of SDT, SMS, KBT and MMC increased the T cell proliferation significantly than the MMC treated group. In conclusion, it is suggested that SDT, SMS and KBT can recover the side effects of MMC, such as weight loss, leukopenia and immunosuppression, without any intercalating the anti-proliferative action of MMC in vivo.

  • In this research, heavy metals and T-P removal characteristics of plated wastewater are derived using BPC(Break Point Chlorination) process. AA sedimentation pond outflow(Influence) was evaluated for the removal efficiency of heavy metal(Ni) and T-P at a reaction time of 25 minutes by NaOCl input volume(9, 11, 13 and 15 mL). In the case, the higher the NaOCl input volumes, the higher the ORP values were maintained and the higher the removal efficiency tended to be. On the other hand, T-P was judged to have a low relationship between the ORP value and the removal efficiency. In addition, the efficiency of removal heavy metals and T-P in the plated wastewater by injecting 10 mL, 15 mL, 20 mL and 25 mL NaOCl, increased as the amount of NaOCl injected increased, the amount of NaOH input for pH increased. It was found that suspended solid in effluence also increased. It was also observed that the color of the plating wastewater changed from yellowish green to green to charcoal gray to black as the amount of NaOCl injected increased. Treatment characteristics of the reaction time, the longer the reaction time with the substance to be treated after the input of NaOCl, the more the heavy metal removal efficiency tended to increase. Through XRF analysis of the sludge, the constituents in the sludge such as NaCNO, CNCl, Na3PO4, CrO4, 2Na2CrO4 and 2NaNO3 will be analyzed in detail, and the mechanisms of the reaction between the plated wastewater and the complex compound will be elucidated.

  • The purpose of this study is to determine the characteristics of Filipino marriage immigrants' acculturation stages in regards to their Korean family life culture and to identify the source of the support for each stage, hence to provide information for educational programs that would promote successful acculturation for each stage. The following findings have been obtained through in-depth interviews with 18 female Filipino immigrants to Korea. In a range of obstacles from the Honeymoon Stage to the Confusion stage, the first are the language and the aspects of the food/cooking/ingredients/diet that are different from their own culture. Especially, pregnancy/childbirth is a major change in one's life and the biggest challenge in the acculturation process. As food and cooking are the first change that the immigrants have to face and get accustomed to in the early stage of their Korean life, the food culture is rather easier for the immigrants to get accustomed to than other parts of Korean life. From the Honeymoon Stage to the Harmony Stage, the immigrants make efforts to help their family in the home, while they look to their future in their children during the Autonomy Stage. Regardless of how long they have been in Korea, from the Honeymoon Stage to the Autonomy Stage, the immigrants have a hard time with the patriarchal environment in Korea due to the bilateral nature of kinship in the Philippines. Secondly, the immigrants receive the most support from their husband, family, and the tutors in Korean culture, while their mothers-in-law are the main source of the support for the Korean diet. At the Confusion Stage, the immigrants start visiting the regional multicultural family support centers and get help from the friends they meet there while depending on the TV for cooking tips. From the Harmony Stage, they may seek a job through the community network with their own effort and their children's help. In the Autonomy Stage, they are concerned about their children rather than their own parents, and they find their own identity as a Korean and realize that their effort is important.

  • Azuki bean is the important bean crop in Korea, and is traditionally used as a filling material for red bean porridge, rice cakes, and bread, as well as for sediment. So far, the National Insititute of Crop Science has developed azuki bean varieties for various uses, such as for sediment, tea, and azuki bean sprouts. Among azuki bean elite lines, 25 strains were used to analyze the correlation between red bean quality characteristics and sediment yield. The crude protein of red beans was 25.0-28.9%, ash content was 3.8-5.3%, and fat was 0.4-1.0%. As for the appearance quality characteristics of azuki bean, one hundred seed weight was 11.1-19.5 g, the length of seed was 6.45-8.49 mm, the width seed was 4.84-6.45 mm, and the withd/lenght ratio was 0.72-0.89. When the azuki bean were boiled, the thickness of the seed coat was 0.14-0.27 mm and the length ratio of seed was 0.65-0.76 mm, showing that the length of seed was slightly larger than the width. The yield of azuki bean sediment was 239-284% for whole red bean paste, and 144-203% for fine azuki bean paste. As a result of analyzing the correlation between the quality characteristics of azuki beans, such as protein, husk and seed weight, and the yield of azuki bean sediment, the yield of whole azuki bean sediment showed a negative correlation with the seed coat thickness and the length ratio of the original grain at -0.62 and -0.45, respectively. The yield of fine sediment showed a negative correlation with the length ratio of whole azuki beans at -0.49, and a positive correlation with that of white beans at 0.41. However, protein and ash content did not show any correlation with sediment yield. In view of the above results, it is thought that it would be better to have a high seed weight or a low width/length ratio of seed to develope azuki bean cultivar for sediment.

  • This study was perfomed to investigate causes of the senile hypotension, pathogenic mechanism, symptoms, and therapies through medical literatures, recent chinese medical literatures and chinese medical journals. The results are as follows ; 1. The senile hypotension has major symptoms of dizziness, weakness, syncope, palpitation, shortness of breath, and deficiency of Qi. Additionally, it has minor symtoms of letharhy, isomnia, tinnitus, amnesia etc... 2. The prodromal symptoms of Kwul and Kwul are relating to the symptoms of tachycardia, facial pallor, sweating, anxietas, ambiguous consciousness, and fainting. Weakness and dizziness due to deficiency make the symptoms of exhaustion, fatigue, vertigo, lethargy, and brachycardia. 3. The most principal cause of the senile hypotension is deficiency of Shen due to aging, congenital deficiency, and chronic illness. The rest of causes are defciency of Qi and blood, phlegm of retention, stagnation of Qi, blood stasis, blood prostration etc... In the view of the occidental meicine, the causes of the senile hypotension came from the reduction of cardiac output, the decretion of cardiovascular system's extention due to aging, hereditary factor, secondary factor due to exsanguination, diabetes mellitus, C.V.A etc..., and factor of neurogenic system's degeneration. 4. The principal pathogenic mechanisms are the insufficiency of Xing-Yang, the deficiency of Qi in middle jiao, and deficiency of Shen-Qi. The rest of mechanisms are the deficiency of both Qi and blood, stagnation of the Gan-Qi, and the deficiency of Gan and Shen. Zang-Pu Organs have something to do with Xing, Bi, and Shen. 5. As principal therapies, there are warming and recuperation the Xing-Yang, strengthing the middle-jiao and replenishing Qi, replenishing vital essence to tonify the Shen, and warming and recuperation the Shen-Yang. Additionally, the therapies of invigorating the Bi and relieving mental stress, strengthning the Bi and tonifing the Shen, invigorating Qi and nourishing Yin, soothing the Gan and regulating the circulation of Qi, and tonifing the Shen and nourishing the Gan help the cure of the senile hypotension. • The concentration of terpene (18 species) was measured from spring to fall in ambient air and essential oil at three different forests located in Jeollanamdo province. Sampling was conducted at 4-hour-interval a day of each season. In the ambient air, ${\alpha}$-pinene, ${\beta}$-pinene and 2-carene were the most abundant compounds throughout the sampling periods and areas. The highest three-season average concentration of total terpene was 2,597 pptv at Jeamsan(Mt.) in Boseong which was predominantly populated by Pinaceae. The seasonal averages were observed to peak during spring with their max at Palyeongsan(Mt.) in Goheung and Jeamsan(Mt.) in Boseong, and during fall at Woodland in Jangheung. Most of terpenes had diurnal variations with higher concentrations during the daytime, and lower during the nighttime. However in essential oil, the highest annual average concentration of total terpene was $798{\mu}g/dry-g$ at Goheung which was predominantly populated by Chamaecyparis obtusa. Also, the component proportion ratio showed different distribution between ambient air and essential oil. From the results of this study, we suggest that Chamaecyparis obtusa species is more useful, and younger tree is more economical than older one, and spring is the best season for lumbering in order to use essential oil.
