Measurement of Combustible Characteristics of EC(Ethylene Carbonate) for Battery Electrolyte Organic Solvent (배터리 전해질 유기용매인 EC(Ethylene Carbonate)의 연소특성치 측정)

  • Lithium-ion secondary batteries are currently in high demand and supply. The purpose of this study is to secure the safety of the process by studying the combustion characteristics of EC(Ethylene Carbonate), Which is mainly used as an electrolyte organic solvent for lithium ion batteries. The flash points of the EC by using Setaflash and Pensky-Martens closed-cup testers were experimented at 141 ℃ and 143 ℃, respectively. The flash points of the EC by Tag and Cleveland open cup testers were experimented at 152 ℃ and 156 ℃, respectively. The AIT(Auto Ignition Temperature) of the EC was experimented at 420 ℃. The LEL(Lower Explosive Limit) calculated by using lower flash point of Setaflash was calculated at 3.6 Vol.%.

  • In this study, we analyzed the ignitibility of the wooden floorings used as the finishing materials for interior with the flammability tester and the ignition point tester. Also we analyzed the limit oxygen index(LOI) using the oxygen index tester and the flame resistance of the wooden floorings. We confirmed that all of the samples had a excellent flame resistance. The ignitibility of the floorings were ranked as the material lumber>the strengthening flooring>the veneer board(1)>the veneer board(2).

  • A numerical study is carried out to investigate combustion phenomena in a model SCRamjet engine, which has been experimentally studied at the Australian National University using a T3 free-piston shock tunnel. The Mach number is 3.8, the static pressure 110kPa and the static temperature 1100K in the main air flow. The fuel is hydrogen, which is injected in the cavity. Equivalence ratio is set to either 0.25 or 0.5 to access its effect on the fuel-air mixing combustion phenomena. The results show that the cavity generates several recirculation zones, which increase the fuel-air mixing. Self ignition occurs near the point of fuel injection. The flame is anchored by the cavity and generates the precombustion shock on the step. For a high equivalence ratio, the recirculation zones are bigger and the flame is present throughout the combustor.

  • Biodiesel is technically competitive with or offers technical advantages over conventional petroleum diesel fuel. Biodiesel is an environmentally friendly alternative liquid fuel that can be used in any diesel engine without modification. In this study, to investigate the effect of fuel injection timing on the characteristics of performance with DBF in DI diesel engine. The engine was operated at five different fuel injection timings from BTDC $6^{\circ}$ to $14^{\circ}$ at $2^{\circ}$ intervals and four loads at engine speed of 1800rpm. As a result of experiments in a test engine, maximum cylinder pressure is increased with leading fuel injection timing. Specific fuel oil consumption is indicated the least value at BTDC $14^{\circ}$ of fuel injection timing.

  • An electronic control system of the automobile engine for optimal start and idle speed control has been developed. This system employs the microcoputer-based electronic control unit and crank angle sensor for precise control on fuel injection, ignition timing, and idle speed more quickly and accurately at the start and idling. Consequently, the number of misfire can be reduced during been affected by air flow rate, idle quality(roughness), spark timing, fuel injection, water temperature, and load, Thus, this electronic control system strivers to reach the optimal idle operating point, defined the lowest idle speed(fuel economy) and idle quality(roughness), under any engine operating conditions.

  • The purpose of this paper is to study and analysis the failure examples for parasitic current leakage produced in starting system on gasoline engine. It verified the discharge of battery by electric leakage because of internal wiring damage problem for CD auto changer installed in car. Also, it verified the no-stating phenomenon because of deposit forming by chemical reaction of battery fluid between battery post and cable fixing parts. It verified the damage for brush holder and commutator mixing by internal short phenomenon because of brush carbon a particle and engine oil that was flowed into internal of starting motor. It verified the working phenomenon of audio by a point of contact even if the driver turn to "LOCK" position the key.

  • Simulation is performed to analyze the characteristics of turbulent spray combustion in a diesel engine condition. An extended Conditional Moment Closure (CMC) model is employed to resolve coupling between chemistry and turbulence. Relevant time and length scales and dimensionless numbers are estimated at the tip and the mid spray region during spray development and combustion. The liquid volume fractions are small enough to support validity of droplets assumed as point sources in two-phase flow. The mean scalar dissipation rates (SDR) are lower than the extinction limit to show flame stability throughout the combustion period. The Kolmogorov scales remain relatively constant, while the integral scales increase with decay of turbulence. The chemical time scale decreases abruptly to a small value as ignition occurs with subsequent heat release. The Da and Ka show opposite trends due to variation in the chemical time scale. More work is in progress to identify the spray combustion regimes.

  • The development of the effective computer simulation program which predicts the performances and emissions of the multi-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine has been described in the first paper. In this paper, the comparison between the predictions and experiments of the transient pressure at each point in the intake and exhaust systems was made to examine the validity and availability of the simulation models adopted. This test was performed for the engines equipped with different turbochargers under various operating conditions. The results of calculation showed good agreements with the experimental data and proved that the simulation program developed can be used for the matching of the turbocharger to the engine.

  • In past, transformer connection study was concentrated on efficiency improvement and life time broadening. But environmental side began to become important recently. In existing, quick transaction of mineral oil used to insulation oil of transformer is possibility to be difficult and causes environmental pollution in case of was outpoured and there is worry of fire occurrence. Accordingly, nonflammable performance becomes many interest in excellent vegetable oil because ignition point is high than mineral oil and environment friendly material. But, vegetable oil is cooling of transformer and insulation problem of insulating paper for cause of insulation oil special quality. Therefore, in this paper, special quality of vegetable oil that there are being a lot of mineral oil and the latest interest examined about problem and consideration item to be solved to analyzed comparison and applies vegetable oil to transformer for electric power.
