  • According to zoogeographic analysis, distribution types of Korean species of the subfamily Tryphoninae are as follows; Holarctic species (9.6%), Transpalearctic (38.4%), Transpalearctic-Oriental (8.2%), Eastern Palearctic (Trans-Far East Asia)-Oriental (4.1 %), Eastern Palearctic (17.8%) and Endemic (21.9%). Because of large numbers of palearctic and endemic species, we believe that the Korean Tryphoninae may have originated from northern hemisphere. The oldest fossil species of the Tryphoninae are the Catachoru rninor Townes and Urotryphon pusillus Townes in Creataceous amber from the peninsula Taimyr, Siberia. The world-wide distribution of the Tryphoninae appears to coincide with the continental movement.

  • An intensive survey of rice insect pests and their natural enemies with special references on parasites of rice stem-borers was made during the last 5 years(1973-77). The results were obtained as follows: 1. 15 species of hymenopterous parasites from the rice stem-borers were identified; Trichogrammatidae-2 spp, Scelionidae-1 sp, Braconidae-5 spp, Ichneumonidae-7spp. 2. The two Trichogrammatids species, Apanteles chilonis and Microgaster russata are first records from Korea. 3. Museum presence specimens of the 3 species: Trichogramma chilonis, Eriborus terebrans and Gombrus ruficoxatus, we previously identified in Korea, could not be located in this periods of study.

  • The genus Metopius is a relatively large ichneumonids group that includes 145 species worldwide. In this genus, 41 species have been reported from the Eastern Palaearctic region, while eight species have been reported from Korea. We reviewed Korean species of the genus Metopius and confirmed 13 species. We also report five species, Metopius (Ceratopius) maruyamensis Uchida, 1930, Metopius (Ceratopius) scrobiculatus Hartig, 1838, Metopius (Peltastes) fossulatus Uchida, 1933, Metopius (Peltastes) pinatorius $Brull{\acute{e}}$, 1846 and Metopius (Peltastes) sapporensis Uchida, 1930, which were recorded for the first time from Korea. A key to Korean species of the genus Metopius, redescriptions of newly recorded species and digital images of Korean Metopius are also provided.

  • The three newly recognized species of the genus Plectiscidea are reported in this: Plectiscidea aquilonia Humala, 2003, Plectiscidea bistriata (Thomson, 1888), and Plectiscidea collaris(Gravenhorst, 1829). Among them, P. bistriata is recorded for the first time in the Eastern Palaearctic region and this genus is reported for the first time from South Korea. A key to species of this genus and and photographs of each species are provided.

  • Two species, Plectiscus impurator Gravenhorst and Stenomacrus laticollis(Holmgren), of the subfamily Orthocentrinae are newly recognized from South Korea. This subfamily Orthocentrinae was represented in South Korea as 17 species belonging to four genera until now. In this paper, two additional species belonging to two genera are recorded for the first time from South Korea. Diagnoses of genera and two unrecorded species, illustrations of diagnostic characters are provided.
