  • Design-build is expanding gradually in large construction projects over 10billion won, and continue to work in health care facilities is increasing in this way. This constructional method in health care facilities, despite the many advantages, many problems caused by design changes are being raised. Raises the question of design changes on the side of construction contract, such as approval systems have been studied in the field of construction. The purpose of this study design in aspects of architectural planning on changing the grasp of the issues outlined in the ITB and bid evaluation criteria through consideration of the basic plan for improvement guidelines and evaluation criteria is presented. In conclusion, Design build, according to the presence of existing users are more likely to lead to design changes. Thus, hospital architecture, depending on how it is considered that constructional methods. And evaluation items of ITB(Invitation To Bidder) for a large part of the change in the variables evaluated in the hospital building is not suitable for the design build. Instead, the overall shape of the building and department, unit type and size, vertical and horizontal parts of the circulation system in the shape of the building that does not change in structure and etc should be considered for evaluation.

  • EPC companies to continue operating overseas, it is increasingly becoming apparent that risk is no longer something to be avoided but a subject to be managed. During the bidding stage, the requirements, specifications and project line items within the bid package must be studied in details to analyze the various risk factors in order to avoid cost overruns. However, reviewing vast quantities of bidding documents is time consuming and labor intensive and is not an easy task and this is where automated information technology can help. For this study, I have constructed an ITB analysis model based on Watson AI that can analyze and apply vast amount of documents more effectively in a short time. Configuration of the Watson Explorer AI architecture for AI-based ITB risk management model research, the selection of learning procedures and analysis subjects, and the performance evaluation criteria were defined, and a test bed was constructed to conduct a pilot research. Consequently, I verified the effectiveness of the analytical time reduction and the quality of its results and VOC operations by professionals.

  • The Korean construction order volume in South Korea grew significantly from 91.3 trillion won in public orders in 2013 to a total of 212 trillion won in 2021, particularly in the private sector. As the size of the domestic and overseas markets grew, the scale and complexity of EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) projects increased, and risk management of project management and ITB (Invitation to Bid) documents became a critical issue. The time granted to actual construction companies in the bidding process following the EPC project award is not only limited, but also extremely challenging to review all the risk terms in the ITB document due to manpower and cost issues. Previous research attempted to categorize the risk terms in EPC contract documents and detect them based on AI, but there were limitations to practical use due to problems related to data, such as the limit of labeled data utilization and class imbalance. Therefore, this study aims to develop an AI model that can categorize the contract terms based on the FIDIC Yellow 2017(Federation Internationale Des Ingenieurs-Conseils Contract terms) standard in detail, rather than defining and classifying risk terms like previous research. A multi-text classification function is necessary because the contract terms that need to be reviewed in detail may vary depending on the scale and type of the project. To enhance the performance of the multi-text classification model, we developed the ELECTRA PLM (Pre-trained Language Model) capable of efficiently learning the context of text data from the pre-training stage, and conducted a four-step experiment to validate the performance of the model. As a result, the ensemble version of the self-developed ITB-ELECTRA model and Legal-BERT achieved the best performance with a weighted average F1-Score of 76% in the classification of 57 contract terms.

A study on the establishment of domestic criteria through analysis of shield TBM requirements in overseas ITB (Invitation to Bid) (해외 쉴드TBM 입찰안내서 분석을 통한 국내 발주 기준 정립에 관한 연구)

  • In many countries, most of the tunneling works have been ordered by the shield TBM, and also Korean companies are actively bidding and execute in this project. In case of Korea, refurbished machines are mainly using in power cable, gas pipelines, and water and sewage tunnel. Also in metro projects, shield TBM of over diameter 7m is required mainly by using brand new machine. Since the shield TBM is not easy to change once it is produced, it is necessary for the client to provide sufficient information on the production conditions so as to satisfy various characteristics of the construction. In this study, to manufacturing optimal shield TBM, the Client's TBM requirements of tunnel construction in Hong Kong and UK was analyzed and compared with the domestic requirements. The results are expected to provide as client's guidelines for bidding stage and manufacturing for shield TBM tunneling in Korea in the future.
