A study on the analysis of Industrial difference in Skill & Job Requirements for IT Personnel (정보기술 인력의 스킬 및 직무요건 분석연구 : -산업간 차이에 대한 분석을 중심으로-)

  • Being in era of the digital economy, the influence of IT that effects on our economy is getting greater. Along with this effect, IT becomes origin of predominance of competition in every category of industry. Regarding new trends in industry, how companies mutate their IT skill become important factor. Every industry has their own color and environment of IT and uncertainty is different. For a company, It is most important to plan own strategy with strategic view on industrial environment. The idea of this study is to find the difference of Skill Requirement and Job Requirement in every category of industry by find what are the most important jobs and skills of IT in every industry and to analyze the results. The second idea is to find what kinds of skill are required in every sector of job. Base on the analyzed data, we classified the uncertainty in every industry by Duncan′s "classification of environment", and extracted some pattern within the skill and job in industry that found in our study by applying OIP model. We set skills by categorized curriculum of specialized IT education center, then with IT specialist, checked and retouched the results and surveyed with IT people in every industry on skill set and job of IT. The summery of this study is as follow : 1. Importance of IT skill is differentiated in each industry. It shows that IT skills, which requested in a field are differentiated by uncertainty of environment that comes from the character of industry. 2. Importance of IT job differs by the fields of industry. It shows as IT skills are differentiated, the importance of job that apply these skills is differentiated. 3. As the character of each job that work on is diversified, the importance of skills are diversified in each field of jobs. The Result of this study can give the idea to who designs curriculum and builds educational contentsthat would fulfill the need of fields. Also this study would be meaningful that it opens the field of study of skill requirement in Korea.

The Qualitative Trade Competitiveness of China in IT Industry: A Comparison to Korea and USA

  • Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to analyze the trade structure and competitiveness of China's information technology (IT) industry in comparison to that of Korea and the United States, particularly in terms of quality. Design/methodology/approach - Indices such as trade specialization index (TSI), Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA), and Market Comparative Advantage (MCA) are used. Further, an Intra-industry Trade (IIT) index is used to analyze qualitative changes in horizontal intra-industry trade and intra-industry trade of high- and low-quality goods. Findings - China's IT industry has a comparative competitive advantage over that of Korea and the United States, and mainly exports goods of inferior quality and imports goods of superior quality. Further, China's horizontal intra-industry trade has been decreasing, while its vertical intra-industry trade has been increasing and vertical trade of inferior quality goods outweighs that of superior quality goods. This shows that China is rapidly catching up with Korea and the United States, even though its qualitative competitiveness has not significantly improved. Research limitations/implication - This study has academic and political implications, as it analyzes changes in China's IT trade competitiveness. However, it is somewhat limited as factors determining qualitative aspects has not been considered. Originality/value - Most studies aggregate analyses of export competitiveness using methodologies such as TSI, RCA, and market share. However, the focus of these methods is price competitiveness. Hence, an examination of the objective and qualitative trade competitiveness of China's IT industry is necessary. this study the trade structure and quantitative competitiveness of the industry by analyzing intra-industry trade focusing on the quality of competitiveness. Therefore, the changes in China's IT industry in the USA and Korea and in foreign trade competitiveness and quality competitiveness are clarified. The results show that the academic and policy implications of these changes in the IT industry will be a useful resource. This is the first study in Korea to attempt such an analysis.   • As IT industries importance for economic growth, export and the promotion of employment increases, forecasting and analysing development direction in the IT industry & the meaning of the national economy is more important than ever. This study will contribute to policy making in IT industry through improving comprehension of IT and understanding development trend of the new fields of IT industry. Moreover, It will be helpful to formulating the various support programs for the IT industry. In this situation, this study has importance in the side of taking a triangular position in policy direction based on the future of IT industry.

  • In order to meet competitive power, foodservice should aim to satisfy customers through distinguished quality and service as well as speciality and know-how. Especially, in coming 2000 year will be openned ASEM, 2001 will be the "Year to visit Korea", 2002 will be openned Korea-Japan Soccer World Cup, with these event as a momentum the domestic foodservice industry would be continuously increased and improved. Foodservice industry is the tertiary industry with the potentiality, tremendous popularity, premanancy and future-orient, it is gradually taking root as a basic industry after going through the industrialization. Furthermore, foodservice industry aim to satisfy customer based on quality, services, cleanliness, atmosphere, timing and value, besides, it is customer closeby service which to supply value and satisfaction through systemization, being manual, being technological renovation. Strategic management of foodservice industry is as following: Firstly, marketing strategy requires positing strategy to recongnize self-brand to the customer, thus requires to get hold how to take firm in customers′ mind. And then distingushed strategy requires. So somehow it is important to secure competitive in customers′ mind. Secondaryly, it requires strategy of competive advantegy. It is not to improve unique core competence of industry which is developed and studies for a long time but to pursuit diversfication based on core of industry Thirdly, it requires strategy of customer satisfaction. In these modern days it is important how much to satisfy customer, as it could be not expect continuous frowth and development without strategy of customer satisfaction. Therefore strategy of customer satisfaction is a necessary condition for the foodservice industry.

  • The structure of industry has changed from manufacturing economy to service industry economy. Especially when it comes to the standard of the countries with OECD membership, the ratio of the service industry regarding the total industry as well as the total working labor has been reaching to 70%. Considering these facts in mind, the productivity of service industry has become crucial day by day. Under this situation, this study aims to help seeking the solution to enhance the productivity by comparing and analyzing the productivity level of theme park industry in Korea with that of an advanced country. The service productivity of two companies that represent tour and leisure industry in Korea and Japan are compared and analyzed, and through this it suggests ways to improve service productivity of theme park industry in Korea.

Causal Effect from IT Capital in the US Computer and Electronic Products Industry: Value Added Increase or Labor Decrease (미국 전자산업에서 IT자본의 효과: 부가가치 창출 또는 근로자의 감소)

  • Since many researchers were interested in measuring the performance of information technology investment, many studies have been conducted with various data sources and analysis methods, and most studies report that IT investment produces significant and positive results. Many of these studies have been conducted at the enterprise level, but different results may occur at the industry level. In the case of the electronics industry, if the performance of the IT highly increases, the sales of the IT produced in the electronics industry may decrease, and the added value of the electronics industry may also decrease. As a result of analysis, the increase in the IT capital of the US electronic industry did not increase the added value of the industry, but the increase in IT capital per worker in the industry had a positive effect on the increase in value added per worker (labor productivity) in the industry. In addition, the increase in IT capital in the US electronics industry has resulted in a decrease in the number of workers.

  • Recently, many graduate schools related to Cosmetic & Beauty have established, and it is very advisable. However, the following the curriculum or the teaching staff has to be made up well for making a substantial graduate school, and it will contribute largely toward to Cosmetic & Beauty industry. If it is used like a tool for only increasing the quorum of student, it is not a help to Cosmetic & Beauty industry even though many Cosmetic & Beauty courses in the graduate schools are established. The government and the industrial circles have to give thought and support to develop a university. Then special workers who train in this part will be a help to grow Cosmetic & Beauty industry. Hereafter, Cosmetic & Beauty industry is a big field of industry after medical supplies in the fine chemistry industry when we take the scale of industry and the national competitiveness into consideration. And Cosmetic & Beauty industry is a competitive field of industry with a small investment contrary to medical supplies. However, there are few educational institutions for special workers through the college of pharmacy in Cosmetic & Beauty contrary to medical supplies. Also, there is no position for managing the growth of Cosmetic & Beauty industry in the government agencies. At this point of time, it is very desirable situation that the graduate school related to Cosmetic & Beauty is established lately, and we hope that it is an opportunity for the growth of Cosmetic & Beauty industry through the interests of the university, the government, the industrial circles, and so on.

  • According to each developing type, we study a concept, contents and a consideration about in oriental medicine industry. The divisions of each developing speciality are followings: Urban industry type - The development of urban industry type has difficulties; The lack of technical development and social adaptation, etc. If it overcomes these difficulties, it will be activated in the oriental medicine industry. Rural industry type - The oriental medicine industry of rural type needs the model of rural oriental medicine industry which leads an activity and an independence of the rural region. Within the industrialization of the oriental medicine industry, if rural resource makes a specialized brand, it can have great effects in the future industry. Resort industry type - When The resort type is related the characters of natural circumstances, cultural industry and health management, it has many effects. If we gain the clear direction which is activated the regional specialities, the oriental medicine industry of resort type can estabilishs the high value industry. Event industry type - The event type is a festival, an exhibition, etc. Within this event, the promoter must provide visitors the specialized sights, the food things, the enjoyable things. And using traditional image, we have the regional resource is recognized good things and the nomination of open place can inform.

  • Recently, The Bali Road Map was approved, as it demands that developing countries should also have the responsibility of greenhouse gas reduction from 2013. This suggests that the greenhouse gas and environment should be controlled across industry sectors. Accordingly, this study was conducted to identify the application and effects of the IT convergence technology to the smart farm and realize the low-carbon green industry in Korea. The smart farm technologies within and outside of Korea were comparatively analyzed for the low-carbon green industry policy. The study subjects were determined to propose the necessity of the study efficiently. First, the studies on the smart farm for low-carbon green industry policy were examined. Second, the suitable IT technology for the smart farm as well as the effect and the improvement plan of the IT technology-based smart farm system were examined. This study now aims to promote the low-carbon green industry policy and IT convergence technology and job creation. These will be achieved by providing the plan for linking the system simulator organization with the low-carbon green industry policy.
