  • Purpose - In order for companies to be competitive and adapt to the trend of development, it is important for many airlines to secure outstanding human resources and the need to nurture them. It can be expected that by systematically analyzing and organizing the characteristics and types of competences considering the duties of the airline cabin crew, the personal and organizational capacities of the cabin crew can be defined and presented theoretically. Research Design, Data, and Methodology - This survey was conducted over a seven-month period from February 1 to September 30, 2018 and was designated as a domestic airline flight attendant. Direct visits to Incheon International Airport and Gimpo International Airport were also conducted through an online questionnaire. A total of 515 questionnaires were used for empirical analysis. To verify two hypothesis of this study, a regression analysis and exploratory factor analysis (EFA) were performed using SPSS WIN 26.0. Results - Analysis on the impact of personal capacity of airline cabin crew on job satisfaction showed that technical competence, knowledge capacity and ability capacity, which are sub-factor factors of personal capacity, had a positive effect on job satisfaction. Recovery resilience also plays a positive role in relationships between individual competence and job satisfaction. Conclusions - It has been empirically analyzed that the personal characteristics of the airline crew have a significant effect on flight attendant's job satisfaction. It can be seen that flight attendants tend to perform well beyond what is required in their duties, and that active and confident cabin crew members tend to perform well in the direction of improving their duties, and are also highly satisfied with their duties.

  • This paper presents an investigation on bearing capacity, load-settlement behavior and safety factor of rock-soil slopes reinforced using geogrid-box method (GBM). To this end, small-scale laboratory studies were carried out to study the load-settlement response of a circular footing resting on unreinforced and reinforced rock-soil slopes. Several parameters including unit weight of rock-soil materials (loose- and dense-packing modes), slope height, location of footing relative to the slope crest, and geogrid tensile strength were studied. A series of finite element analysis were conducted using ABAQUS software to predict the bearing capacity behavior of slopes. Limit equilibrium and finite element analysis were also performed using commercially available software SLIDE and ABAQUS, respectively to calculate the safety factor. It was found that stabilization of rock-soil slopes using GBM significantly improves the bearing capacity and settlement behavior of slopes. It was established that, the displacement contours in the dense-packing mode distribute in a broader and deeper area as compared with the loose-packing mode, which results in higher ultimate bearing load. Moreover, it was found that in the loose-packing mode an increase in the vertical pressure load is accompanied with an increase in the soil settlement, while in the dense-packing mode the load-settlement curves show a pronounced peak. Comparison of bearing capacity ratios for the dense- and loose-packing modes demonstrated that the maximum benefit of GBM is achieved for rock-soil slopes in loose-packing mode. It was also found that by increasing the slope height, both the initial stiffness and the bearing load decreases. The results indicated a significant increase in the ultimate bearing load as the distance of the footing to the slope crest increases. For all the cases, a good agreement between the laboratory and numerical results was observed.

  • Accidents involving portable ranges occurred total 133 cases for the last five years(2008~2012). It accounted for 18.0% of all gas accidents(739 cases). Major causes of accidents are using of excessive hot grill, leaving a butane can near fire and overheating of a butane can during cooking. In this study, it is a desire to investigate the relationship between thermal behavior mechanism depending on characteristics of cooking equipment materials of portable gas ranges. It shows that slope of temperature change curve correlates with difference of heat capacity on thermal behavior characteristics experiment depending on materials of cooking equipment. In conclusion, temperature characteristics appear differently depending on variables such as materials of cooking equipment. Especially, it is necessary to restrict using cooking equipment made of stones, because it is very dangerous that temperature of can is rapidly increasing caused by high heat capacity of stone.

  • The estimation of pile bearing capacity is important since the design details are determined from the result. There are numerous ways of determining the pile design load, but only few of them are chosen in the actual design. According to the recent investigation in Korea, the formulas proposed by Meyerhof based on the SPT N values are most frequently chosen in the design stage. In the study, various static and dynamic formulas have been used in predicting the allowable bearing capacity of a pile. Further, the reliability of these formulas has been verified by comparing the perdicted values with the static and dynamic load test measurements. Also in cases, these methods of pile bearing capacity determination do not take the time effect consideration, the actual allowable load as determined from pile load test indicates severe deviation from the design value. The principle results of this study are summarized as follows : A a result of estimate the reliability in criterion of the Davisson method, in was showed that Terzaghi & Peck > Chin > Meyerhof > Modified Meyerhof method was the most reliable method for the prediction of bearing capacity. Comparisons of the various pile-driving formulas showed that Modified Engineering News was the most reliable method. However, a significant error happened between dynamic bearing capacity equation was judged that uncertainty of hammer efficiency, characteristics of variable , time effect etc... was not considered. As a result of considering time effect increased skin friction capacity higher than end bearing capacity. It was found out that it would be possible to increase the skin friction capacity 1.99 times higher than a driving. As a result of considering 7 day's time effect, it was obtained that Engineering News. Modified Engineering News. • We try to test the pecking order theory of Korean fisheries firm's capital structure using debt capacity. At first, we estimate the debt capacity as the probability of assigning corporate bond rating from credit-rating agencies. We use logit regression model to estimate this probability as a proxy of debt capacity. The major results of this study are as follows. Firstly, we can confirm the fisheries firm's financing behaviour which issues new debt securities for financial deficit. Empirical test of SSM model indicates that the higher probability of assigning corporate bond rating, the higher the coefficient of financial deficit. Especially, high probability group follows this result exactly. Therefore, the pecking order theory of fisheries firm's capital structure applies well for high probability group which means high debt capacity. It also applies for medium and low probability group, but their significances are not good. Secondly, the most of fisheries firms in high probability group issue new debt securities for their financial deficit. Low probability group's fisheries firms also issue new debt securities for their financial deficit within the limit of their debt capacity, but beyond debt capacity they use equity financing for financial deficit. Therefore, the pecking order theory on debt capacity come into existence well in high probability group.

  • These days, a penetration of distributed generation(DG) has increased in power system. Due to increased penetration of DG, a whole system is forced to install the maximum hosting capacity of DG. Therefore analysis between the maximum hosting capacity of DG at the target bus and the whole system is important. If we know the maximum hosting capacity, it will be able to satisfy the demand of system planner and customer. In this paper, we use a genetic algorithm to calculate the hosting capacity with optimization program using Design Analysis Kit for Optimization and Terascale Applications(DAKOTA). To consider a real system, we establish constraints and use IEEE 34 node test system. In addition, through the correlation coefficient between the target bus and the other buses, when capacity of DG at the target bus increases, we analyze which capacity of DG at the other buses will be decreased.

  • Recently, Korea's electric industry is in the midst of a period of profound changes in the structure and function, including the introduction of market competition in the generation sector. Therefore, it is difficult to promote long-term capacity planning and new generating capacity construction which have been driven by KEPCO so far, after the introduction of market competition, so new generating capacity construction and security of reserve margin is needed through self·regulation plan of private generation producers by market mechanism. According to the competition in the generation sector, a new paradigm is necessary to the long-term capacity planning driven by the Government. This paper analyzes the plan and the incentive level able to guide the new generation capacity construction considering the uncertainty risk in a period of introduction of competition. In addition, this paper analyzes the plan able to guide the new capacity construction by market function at the stage which market become established and Government's role to solve the anxiety about the capacity supply and demand.

  • In the vertical drain method, discharge capacity is generally one of the most important factor which affect on the estimation of the drain efficiency. However, adopting the drain considering discharge capacity only is not sufficiently considered method so that systematic criteria for adoption is necessary to choose the most suitable drain. Therefore, this study represents the application method considering behavior of the ground and vertical drain which is coupled together and ground improvement efficiency analyzing various cases of discharge capacity test performed in the recent soft ground improvement projects. According to the analysis, most drains tend to satisfy the required discharge capacity. It presents that deformed shape of the drains and well resistance estimation along the ground settlement, improvement efficiency by water content ratio along the depth and shear strength obtained after ground improvement should be considered altogether with the discharge capacity to select the proper drain. Also, appropriate adoption of drain material considering the ground condition is vital through analyzing the field measured data and comparing the result of the discharge capacity test as various vertical drain materials are being constructed continuously.

  • The fifth generation (5G) mobile communication has been commercialized and the 5G applications, such as the artificial intelligence (AI) and the internet of things (IoT), are deployed all over the world. The 5G new radio (NR) wireless networks are characterized by 100 times more traffic, 1000 times higher system capacity, and 1 ms latency. One of the promising 5G technologies is non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA). In order for the NOMA performance to be improved, sometimes the additive signal-dependent Gaussian noise (ASDGN) channel model is required. However, the channel capacity calculation of such channels is so difficult, that only lower and upper bounds on the capacity of ASDGN channels have been presented. Such difficulties are due to the specific constraints on the dependency. Herein, we provide the capacity of ASDGN channels, by removing the constraints except the dependency. Then we obtain the ASDGN channel capacity, not lower and upper bounds, so that the clear impact of ASDGN can be clarified, compared to additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN). It is shown that the ASDGN channel capacity is greater than the AWGN channel capacity, for the high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). We also apply the analytical results to the NOMA scheme to verify the superiority of ASDGN channels.

  • Estimating fishing capacity is one of current hot issues in the international fisheries. It is because that increased fishing capacity has caused not only fish stocks to be reduced, but also additional fishing costs to be incurred without additional incomes, which resulted in decrease of economically viability of fisheries. In order to solve this problem, FAO adopted 'the International Plan of Action for the Management of Fishing Capacity' in 1999 and recommended that member countries to measure fishing capacity and to implement the domestic action plan to reduce excess fishing capacity. This study is aimed at assessing fishing capacity of the octopus coastal trap fishery(OCTF) using data envelopment analysis(DEA) which is a method recommended by FAO. The DEA results on 10 individual OCTF vessels showed that the capacity utilization(CU) was a 0.93 on average, indicating some differences in CU among vessels(0.79-1.0). In addition, results of the sensitivity analysis revealed that under the current level of catch, the gross tonnage, horse power, days fished, and traps per trip could be reduced by 35%, 33%, 16%, and 18% on average, respectively.
